It has been claimed Ms Ramage severed her hand on the jagged edge of a hand basin after it broke while the pair was having sex. But family member said Ms Ramage "would never put herself in that sort of a predicament''. "She's a good Christian girl. I've known her all her life and she has strong principles ... I just can't believe it. It doesn't sound like Amy at all,'' she told Fairfax Media. Croatian authorities were still searching for the Englishman, who reportedly fled after the accident, the woman said. It was August 6, 1991, at a CERN facility in the Swiss Alps, when 36-year-old physicist Tim Berners-Lee published the first-ever website. It was, not surprisingly, a pretty basic one — according to CERN: Info.cern.ch was the address of the world’s first-ever web site and web server, running on a NeXT computer at CERN. The first web page address was http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html, which centred on information regarding the WWW project. Visitors could learn more about hypertext, technical details for creating their own webpage, and even an explanation on how to search the Web for information. There are no screenshots of this original page and, in any …

Police in Idaho Falls have told a man to stop wearing a bunny suit in public after people complained he has been frightening children. Residents in the northwestern U.S. city of 54,000 people also reported William Falkingham, 34, occasionally wears a tutu with the bunny suit, police said in a statement Tuesday. Police warned Falkingham after a woman said she saw him dressed in the costume, peeking at her young son from behind a tree and pointing his finger like a gun. While a police report said other residents were "greatly disturbed" by his activities, one neighbor defended Falkingham as eccentric but otherwise harmless. Read the rest, here. Thoughts on this?

via Fox News "Pittsburgh police say a man tried to carjack a plainclothes officer near filming for the latest Batman movie -- and allegedly told him it was part of the script. Detective Robert DiGiacomo was in an unmarked vehicle around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, looking for a suspect in an assault. That's when police say a man opened the car door, sat down and told the officer to get out. The officer drew his gun and ordered the suspect, 21-year-old Micah Calamosca, out of the car. He says the suspect told him he was part of filming for "The Dark Knight Rises" and that taking the vehicle was in the script. Calamosco was taken into custody and faces a charge of robbery…

This Is Topiary, LulzSec Mastermind Topiary's been unmasked. 18-year-old Jake Davis, the alleged hacker chief behind LulzSec's many prominent internet assaults had his first day before a judge. And if the court's claims are true, the kid's pretty screwed. Neo shades notwithstanding, the police have some pretty damaging evidence against the teen, TNW reports: a purported cache of 750,000 personal information files and a draft of the fake Murdoch obit on his laptop. That's a lot of smoking guns. Read the rest at, Gizmodo. When asked why the judge handed Topiary an extra 10 years on top of his original sentence, he wryly replied "Derp. For the lulz" I made that up, but it'd …

MS-DOS lol. It's 30 today! Thirty years ago, on July 27 1981, Microsoft bought the rights for QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) from Seattle Computer Products (SCP) for $25,000. QDOS, otherwise known as 86-DOS, was designed by SCP to run on the Intel 8086 processor, and was originally thrown together in just two months for a 0.1 release in 1980. Meanwhile, IBM had planned on powering its upcoming Personal Computer with CP/M-86, which had been the standard OS for Intel 8086 and 8080 architectures at the time, but a deal could not be struck with CP/M’s developer, Digital Research. IBM then approached Microsoft, which already had a few years of experience un…

Astronomers have discovered the largest and oldest mass of water ever detected in the universe — a gigantic, 12-billion-year-old cloud harboring 140 trillion times more water than all of Earth's oceans combined. The cloud of water vapor surrounds a supermassive black hole called a quasar located 12 billion light-years from Earth. The discovery shows that water has been prevalent in the universe for nearly its entire existence, researchers said. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43859868/ns/technology_and_science-space/

Researchers at Cornell have designed, built and demonstrated the first "cloak" that hides events in time. The process relies on similar methods of distorting electromagnetic fields as invisibility cloaks, but it exploits a time-space duality in electromagnetic theory: diffraction and dispersion of light in space are mathematically equivalent. Scientists have used this theory to create a "time-lens [that] can, for example, magnify or compress in time." Keep reading, here. via - Gizmodo

This is what's going to happen to most of us, as Cloud features become more prominent, and Netflix usage increases. We will effectively be cut-off from the internet, with no recourse and zero alternatives for cable access, thanks to the Comcast monopoly. Read this article and start getting mad. The more people who are informed and tired of this, the better for us all. http://bit.ly/qKGjAs Fuck you, Comcast.

So, I'm gonna pop in my Halo 2 disc and play through the singleplayer a bit tonight. But, that's not what I'm here to discuss. What I am going to comment on, however, is the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc that I bought (I saw it when I was looking fr my Halo 2 disc and it got me thinking). I just checked dates on wikipedia and the disc was released on July 5th, 2005 (the full length game was released on November 9th of the previous year, so this was a rather lengthy and well thought out addition). What I also remember was the price of the disc. My brother bought it for $15. The disc came with 9 multiplayer maps as well as some documentary footage. And they were all kick…

A 36-year-old man who had tracheal cancer has received a new lab-made windpipe seeded with his own stem cells in a procedure in Sweden they call the first successful attempt of its kind, officials said Thursday. The Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm said the surgery was performed June 9, and that the patient is on his way to a "full recovery." He will be released from a hospital Friday. Dr. Paolo Macchiarini says the first synthetic tissue engineered windpipe that has been successfully transplanted.
