is expected to raise an estimated $317 million a year in new state and local government revenue. The 25,000 plus affiliates in California combined paid $152 million in state income taxes last year Many of the people who use the affiliates program on Amazon, do so because they're not able to join the workforce. Some are retired and can't afford their medicine and other living expenses. Jerry Brown is effectively forcing these people to move to another state, so they can tack on a little extra income. It's not a question on if some of these people will move, it's a question of where. Most that I've read about today on the Amazon Affiliate's message boards, said they will mo…

Came across a tidbit of America's early history last night. Something that I had never heard of, and was never taught in school. This is why I'm making this post. I want to see if any of us, no matter what age (wider the range the better), knew about it before reading this thread. Please reply in this thread, if you have heard of the "Culper Ring" or were taught about it in school. Don't google it beforehand. If you were taught this in school, it'd more than likely still be in your memory. It's that bad ass. Thank you.

http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/26/skypes-worthless-employee-stock-option-plan-heres-why-they-did-it/ Talks about the recent firings of its employees, just before the sell-off/acquisition, and the shady stock practices they might have used with their own employees. Very interesting read, and I do believe we'll be hearing more about this very soon. In fact, it could hold Skype coming to the 360 and other places.

http://www.naturalnews.com/032815_sunscreen_chemicals.html Here's #1 #1) The FDA refuses to allow natural sunscreen ingredients to be used in sunblock / sunscreen products It's true: If you create a truly natural sunscreen product using exotic botanicals with powerful sunscreen properties, you will never be able to market it as a "sunscreen" product. That's because the FDA decides what can be used as sunscreen and what can't, regardless of what really works in the real world. And there are really only two natural ingredients the FDA has allowed to be sold as sunscreen: Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Any other non-chemical sunscreen ingredients, if sold as "sunscreen," w…

All this hacking crap is really starting to get old. Got this email last night... --- An important message about your BioWare account. Aaryn Flynn GM BioWare Edmonton <bioware@em.ea.com> Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 11:25 PM To: skylark95@live.com We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our invest…

Two women who say they suffered severe medical complications from a generic drug lost their Supreme Court appeal Thursday, essentially ending their separate lawsuits against pharmaceutical manufacturers. The justices in a 5-4 ruling said generic drug companies do not share the same level of responsibility as makers of brand-name equivalents, to update their warning labels when significant new risks emerge. Game developers should know this isn’t a yes or no question. Unlike old school bankers stuck in the vainglorious days of million-dollar pool parties, or alarmist CEOs who call for massive layoff’s at the first sign of trouble, most game developers have had the privilege of seeing things from the underdog perspective. By their nature underdogs tend to challenge the status quo and eschew the easy answers. Rather than sink or swim, we might make a sail, build a submarine, or find a hundred different ways to get out of the water. We’ve just never been as limited in our thinking as those other guys, right? Then why is it that game developers are beginning to drown in a culture…
