General Discussion

For the serious or semi-serious. Just don't go off the beaten path.

  1. So I was browsing the internet today and came across something I can't even begin to describe. I found it through RockPaperShotgun (a gaming site I sometimes read articles on). I present to you.... Super Barbie Brain Doctor So I played through that, strange enough, but holy shit when I was done playing it up pops something to try out Pregnant Super Barbie Spa So fucking weird hahahaha.

Massive heart attack. We were in the car together, I was just taking her Christmas shopping. I haven't slept, still drinking. I don't even know what to say. I got her to the hospital so fast and they couldn't save her. We were supposed to get married in may. I'm dying right now

For my final project in English class, I'm doing research into videogame violence, and its effect on people. I need to find two "voices" on the subject. One that is against violence in games, and one that is for (or at least not against it). I was thinking about using Jack Thompson as my anti-violence voice, but he seems a bit too crazy/extreme, and I can't think of any great voices for games with violence off the top of my head. Does anyone have any suggestions that I could use for either? It'd be a great help.

Final Fight AND Magic Sword!? Damn that's sweet. I really wish it wasn't 800 MS points though. I don't really care for Final Fight so much, but I sank LOTS of money into Magic Sword at the arcades when I was younger. Anyone else maybe getting these? I was thinking about picking them up and it looks like you can play them online. It just sucks that it's $10.

.. well it's not that bad. I've been easing up on the internet lately since I really should be more productive in my life, but after my birthday-anniversary-Canada Day experience my memory of those 3 weeks is cloudy at best and I'm pretty sure my liver and kidneys aren't too happy with all the overtime they've had to do. So what do I do once I start feeling better .. we completely tear apart and rearrange all the furniture in our apartment of course. I started this on Tuesday and am only have done. Tam and I are planning on adopting two kittins at the begining of August and I wanted to make our place more cat friendly (and safer for them) by opening more window for them …

Major Nelson released a video showing the new Xbox 360 controller that is slated for November 9th. It sports a newly improved D-Pad and new more comfortable triggers. The D-Pad twists and becomes an actual D-Pad instead of the disc based pad of the current design. The new controller will sell in a Play And Charge Kit for $64.99. 21. As part of the Game Developer's Conference celebrations in San Francisco this week, publisher THQ decided to unleash a wave of balloons advertising its upcoming shooter, Homefront. Unfortunately, some S.F. natives were not particularly pleased about the stunt, especially once the balloons started landing in the San Francisco Bay. CNET reports that many people upset about the balloons polluting the Bay (as pictured above) mistakenly aimed their anger at retailer GameStop, whose logo also appeared on the balloons. GameStop provided the following response: "We understand the concerns consumers have regarding the impact balloons can have on the environment. However, the ball…

  22. The disaster that seems to be swirling around THQ’s day old release Homefront keeps getting worse. Walmart and Amazon have both already discounted the price of the much hyped first person shooter PS3 and 360 versions to $41.96. For Walmart that includes in store and online purchases. No news on whether this is permanent or just for the time being. via Thrifty Nerd Tweet This Post View the full article

  23. Those of you hoping to cash in on THQ’s rocky release of their newest title, Homefront, by taking advantadge of the reported price drop by Amazon and Walmart are going to be in for a surprise if you try to go pick up a copy today. THQ issued a statement today in defense of selling Homefront at full price, which basically states that they disapprove of the price drops advertised by Amazon and Walmart: “Amazon and Walmart.com have raised the prices back up and it was a one-day plan to gain market share on the biggest title in the industry right now. THQ did not support this in any way, shape, or form.” There you have it folks. Did you have a chance to pick up Homefront …

  25. If you have experienced the underrated and very innovative first person shooter meets portal and gravity manipulator then you know that the gameplay from Prey rests heavily on making portals to transport the main character Tommy to and from areas in the game. Human Head Studios has announced that the portals and gravity manipulation will not be making their return in Prey 2. The announcement came from lead designer Chris Reinhart as he spoke to PSM3. “We explored a lot of the ways you could use portals and gravity in combat, and I really wanted to shift away from making it too much of a puzzle game. Portals and gravity were the functions of The Sphere [the mothership in…
