General Discussion

For the serious or semi-serious. Just don't go off the beaten path.

Alright guys, I know everyone is wondering what the heck happened. Basically we moved to a new server at our hosting, which changed our DNS servers slightly. The hosting moved our site, but left a copy on the old server as a backup. The DNS didn't update correctly for everyone and in some cases bounced back and forth for people. Basically we were running 2 instances of the site and forum. I've been in contact with them all weekend working on the issue and I am in hopes that we have things resolved or in the process of being resolved. I have backups of all of our old posts and will be working tonight to get everything restored from both instances of the forum. In tha…

  2. http://feeds.wired.c...~3/tOWjpysx7Pg/ Most StarCraft II players can only own a few battlecruisers. Maybe 10 or 15, if they play their cards right, but even with that kind of titanic fleet, your average gamer will still fall to the proper combination of opposition spacecraft in the real-time strategy game. StarCraft II player gm0ney did things a bit differently. Using a “trainer” program he downloaded from the website Cheat Happens, he found he could remove the game’s supply limit and steamroll his opponents with hundreds of gargantuan warships. If it looked like he might lose, he could switch to God Mode and watch his units turn invincible. He was clearly cheat…

  8. Greeting fellow Gamercidists and random internet guests. Pretty much all of you know who I am and most of you have been subjected to my random and quite frequently repulsive/gross/strange/obscure postings around these forums. But for those who don't know me here goes. My name is Chris, my avatar has always been a panda, and frequently I come across things that downright piss me off. Enter the Pejorative Panda. This month saw the release of a game I was greatly looking forward to and yet at the same I was extremely concerned over the new direction the sequel was taking. The game in question was Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Heavily relying on the use of Microsoft's…

Seriously, I can't stand the direction game design is headed these days. It started with achievements and DLC, piecing out games and letting the consumers be public beta testers for patches and extra paid content, then kept getting worse with every game having you do dumb RPG nonsense like do X Y times to get Z. Experience points, unlocks, ranks, collectibles. In Assassin's Creed III they have bonus objectives for every mission that I stopped caring about (do all that nonsense just to unlock an Altair skin, nothing that special), but there was no way to stop the game telling me I failed the objective every two goddam seconds. Now I'm seeing gameplay from Far Cry 3 and…

It created quite a stir on Twitter and other social media. I actually watched the podcast that video was made from, live and just knew it'd create controversy. When more than a week went by, I thought I was wrong. I guess TMZ just caught wind of it or something. Also, I'll share my thoughts on this later.

In the landmark decision US Supreme Court strikes down Defense of Marriage Act defining federally recognized marriage as a union of one man and one woman. The ruling means that the Federal Government will have to recognize state sanctioned same sex marriages. It will give gay couple access to numerous federal benefits such as tax brakes, survivor benefits etc. Same sex marriages are reconnized in 12 states and the District of Columbia. http://rt.com/usa/supreme-court-same-sex-marriage-268/

  17. Ugh, this is just patent trolling again at its finest. Super frustrating. http://www.trademarkia.com/candy-85842584.html Apparently they flat out trademarked the word Candy, specifically pertaining to all Computer & Software Products & Electrical & Scientific Products , Clothing Products , Education and Entertainment Services. The filing was done last year but was recently approved for publication as of last week. I imagine their lawyers are going to start sending out a gratuitous amount of court notices.

  18. A new report at SOFREP, a website for U.S. special operations forces, claims to shed light on the issue of why photos of slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's body were never released to the public. According to unnamed sources within the special ops community, the images would have been excessively gory, because contrary to reports from officials and those involved in the operation, U.S. troops fired countless rounds into bin Laden's body after killing him. In his book, "No Easy Day," Matt Bissonnette, a member of SEAL Team Six involved in the bin Laden raid, writes that he and another SEAL fired "several" rounds into bin Laden to make sure he was dead. But sources t…

(when asked how she was doing and if our care package to her and Logan arrived) Hey PK! Yes it did and thank you so much and please pass the word around Gamercide that I said thank you as well. That bear is so adorable and what you had on the little note part made me tear up a bit. It was really sweet and we all loved it! Everyone is doing fine too. Logan is healthy and I'm doing good. It was an uncomplicated labor and delivery in fact it went quite fast. It's awesome to see his brother stepping into his big brother role too. He adores Logan so much! I'll be posting pictures soon for Gamercide to see their newest member. I have about 500 to go through on my camera, lol. I…
