General Discussion

I read this article in GI this month, and I have to say it really hit home. This sums up exactly how I feel about gamerscore and achievements in general. I've been known to go out of my way for the occasional pick up and cheevo, but in general I tend to let them go. I play through and pick up those sparkly whatevers if I see them, but I don't look for them outright. The only achievements I'm concerned with are story related. I really don't care if it gives me points or even avatar items. I'd rather get something out of the game for it. I've always felt this way, and, though I know some people do like achievements, achievements seem like a waste of development resou…

Before I announce the winner of the Remember Halo personalized prize pack, I want to say thank you to everyone who participated. We had a great response from the Gamercide community. The winner of the personalized Halo pack was decided by an old fashioned hat drawing of the names of the gamertags that participated. The winner of a personalized custom wireless controller and a personlized framed Halo photo done by myself is……. STEALTHY SHADOWS Congratulations go out to Stealthy and again many thanks to all those that participated in Remembering Halo. View the full article

Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Children of all ages. Gamercide proudly brings to you an all new site design. If you don't frequent the main site, I urge you to do so and check it out. A lot of work went in to getting it done and setup correctly. I can't thank Dat enough for working so hard on the Live Streaming page. He's done such an awesome job making it match the main site and dealing with all my flighty changes as I've made them. I'm still working on getting the new forum design going to make it match a little better, but for now they look good together and everything should work well. If you run in to any problems, please PM me or post it here. Thanks f…

Next Generation Storage Media As games and film get bigger, ISP will struggle to find new ways of moving large amounts of data in a timely manner without clogging their servers. Regardless of how fast that industry moves, it will almost always be two, three or four steps behind companies like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and major movie distributors, when looking for the quickest and most cost effective way in getting media out to the consumer. In the future I'm certain the industry standard will be a 3 or 4 terabyte HDD on newer consoles and PCs, but with some games in the current market reaching has high as 40Gb, I don't think it's unreasonable to say in the next 5 or 10 …

One prawn was born to rule them all... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SPAWN!!! Have an excellent birthday, man.

Came across a tidbit of America's early history last night. Something that I had never heard of, and was never taught in school. This is why I'm making this post. I want to see if any of us, no matter what age (wider the range the better), knew about it before reading this thread. Please reply in this thread, if you have heard of the "Culper Ring" or were taught about it in school. Don't google it beforehand. If you were taught this in school, it'd more than likely still be in your memory. It's that bad ass. Thank you.

And ended up on top of a mountain. Hike MT Timpanogos yesterday in UT County, it is about 6.5 miles with about 4400 elevation gain. The summit is just over 11,900. Here are some pics.

I'm in a line with about 1000 people right now, anybody else going out to deal with this madness?

Happy BIRTHDAY!!!!

Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48. Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46355454#.TzcRvtU8Z8F

So I've had an idea I've been kicking around for a little while. I still like to write and I think occasionally, maybe once a week, I think I'm going to write up a short and humorous response article just here on the forums to something that irks me that I've read recently on the other major gaming sites or a counterpoint to something I disagree with. I was going to just call it "Chris's Counterpoint", but lately I like the idea of "The Pejorative Panda", because I'm a sarcastic *** and probably will be writing an article that may be a little belittling. That being said I'm looking for some sort of graphic I can pin to the top of my article. I'd save the base image but …

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Avahra!!!

http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/ I tried to embed, but it was the wrong video, even though I copied it from the right one. Anyways, yeah. Right?

So, I decided spending a lot of money would be a good idea... (regardless of what my wife really wanted) Anyhow! I want it. I haven't upgraded video cards in about 3 years and finally decided it was time again. AND, I managed to find one in stock on NewEgg yesterday and ordered it right up! I should have that bad boy by Thursday. I'm excited

Where it all started. Ebert's blog. http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/04/video_games_can_never_be_art.html IGN's rebuttal. Excellent read. http://pc.ign.com/articles/108/1084661p2.html

Hello. I'm eminutia and I'm a Gearsaholic. lol really, I love the game but I can't seem to compete with these pros, they take me out with their shotgun every time. I'm back into playing it because I want to prepare for the third and final installation in the series, to get my skills up. The guys (Cliff, Rod et al) say that the shotgun mechanics are going to remain the same, and I really want to learn how to use it but I always miss, and I can't seem to strafe and shoot, my reticule is always off a bit and the ******** get me every time. This is a weird post for many of you, because the majority of you don't play the game much but I KNOW theres some Gears guys around here …
