So here's "my" Costume Quest review that Assassin asked me to do for WouldYouKindly. I put "my" in sarcastic quotation marks, because there were quite a few edits I was unaware of when it was suddenly published after I couldn't find Assassin last night to help me reupload the images and finish it. Someone who I won't name for certain reasons from WYK (not Assassin, he has problems with the guy too) made some serious edits to the review and suddenly released it (i.e. hijacked), but for the most part my review is in there if anyone wants to check it out. I think Siren's review here was pretty good, Assassin just wanted me to help him with one for WYK. http://www.wouldyouk.…

Developed by: Mercury Steam / Kojima Productions Published by: Konami Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3 Players: 1 Rated M (Mature) by the ESRB There aren’t many games these days that can boast a history spanning 26 years and more than 30 seperate releases across multiple platforms. The Castlevania series is one of them. Konami has continually reinvented the gameplay of the Castlevania series over the years from the simple two buttons mechanics of the brutally difficult original side scrolling 1986 title. Some highlights include RPG-Lite entries such as Simons Quest and Symphony of the Night, slick touchscreen mechanics from the Nintendo DS titles like Portrait of…

Developed by: Klei Entertainment Published by: Electronic Arts Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC Players: 1, with 2 player local co-op Rated M (Mature) by the ESRB We gamers love violence. It’s a well known fact. So a game about a dude running around shanking fools and cutting them up with a chainsaw already has enough to appeal to the average hardcore gamer. But is it just an overindulgent cash in, or is it a finely crafted outlet for your murderous rage? As it turns out, it’s both. It’s a delightfully overindulgent outlet for your murderous rage. And it has a fairly good story as well. Sure it was published by EA and released for the usual $15, but the design behi…

I found this article and found it a very interesting read. To summarize, 200 students in a Strategic management class at the University of Central Florida were accused of cheating by their professor since they used online materials (a test bank) provided by the publisher to study and/or cheat on the exam. It is unknown to me if this was publicly available on the website (article seems to claim it was), but reguardless of that, would you consider this a form of cheating? Is the professor right in the action that he is taking? If you have time, be sure and take a look at the article, it explains it much better along with the videos than I do. http://www.techdirt.com/arti…

Read an article over at CVG this morning. If you got a couple minutes, read it and maybe some of the comments. I was pretty surprised not only at the article, but also the comments. Not sure if they moderated out any comments, but it looks like a well behaved discussion about console exclusives. Nary a fanboy in sight. Take a gander and discuss what you feel, here. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=276561

I wanted to get a bug thread started for the portal pages. The portal is in a working state now, and I would love to see people participating. However, I do know it has its issues. Dyyno is working very closely with us to resolve these issues as they arise. So, I will start with a list of bugs they know about and are working on. Then, if everyone would post issues as they come across them that would be great. This will help us develop an increasingly more enjoyable portal for us to use. Regarding the Hotmail ads, we were not able to reproduce this issue in the office. Our QA Manager mentioned that he has seen Hotmail ads before but once the ad is completed, the br…

Two major British retailers are threatening to ban the selling of games tied to Steam and are demanding that publishers remove Steam from their game or suffer the consequences. According to MCV, the two retailers who are unknown at this point are claiming that Steam is ruining the PC market and that Valve has created a monster. One of the bosses even had the following to say. “If we have a digital service, then I don’t want to start selling a rival in-store… “Publishers are creating a monster – we are telling suppliers to stop using Steam in their games.” What do you think? Has Valve created a monster and in doing so, have they begun destroying the market of PC games? …

The numbers are in and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold a combined 5.6 million copies on it’s opening day in the US and UK, making Activision not only $360 million, but also very happy. As reported on Eurogamer, Bobby Kotick, Activision’s CEO was extremely pleased with Black Ops first day numbers. “The game’s success underscores the pop culture appeal of the brand. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the finest game that Treyarch has ever made and raises the bar for online gameplay by delivering the deepest and most intense Call of Duty experience yet.” Black Ops has already outsold Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 who managed to make $4.7 million on day one. I know most, if not everyone, likes the Reaper design and would like to keep it as it. I don't, however, have a good version of the file that I can use for some of the ideas and projects that I want to do. With that said, I have lined up a graphics artist that works in the industry and is willing to do a redesign/update for us. They guys at Hyperduck recommended him and he worked with X10 Studios on A.R.E.S. I think he will do a great job for us. Now I need your assistance. I'd like a few ideas and maybe a few donations to cover some of the cost for the redesign. I'd like to get something done that all of us like and that we can use for special gifts/prizes. I thi…
