  1. I just read this article on Wired.com about how Android phones are beginning to get non-removable trial apps on phones, much like the bloatware that plagues PCs. Love or hate the iPhone and how controlling Apple is with the phone, it's nice that Apple won't let AT&T add anything to their phones and shoots them down whenever the topic comes up. I know that Google did the same thing with the Nexus One, but, unfortunately, that's not the case with all phone makers. HTC and Samsung have both given in to the carriers requests to add apps that cannot be removed without hacking the phone. Has anyone bought an Android that had these bloatware apps? Would a phone having bloa…

So I finally caved in and ordered a set of wireless Astro A40s, which includes the Astro Wireless Mixamp 5.8 and the Astro A40 headset. The only real difference between it and the newest model, wireless Astro A50s, is that the wireless components are built into the headset of the A50s (the headset itself is the same funcionally and quality-wise), so the A40s are better off in the long run. With the mixamp I can make any stereo headset wireless (plugged into a little transmitter you can pocket or clip on a belt) and surround sound (virtual surround sound from the mixamp; from what I gather the surround sound works on stereo headsets because it involves different tones an…

  5. The Samsung Galaxy S 4 was just released a few days ago, going on sale across the US through most carriers (root already achieved). Reviews are somewhat mixed, with some claiming this to be the latest best thing in smartphone history, while others are not so impressed. US carrier versions seem to suffer from carrier-itis, which is a medical term for “severely crippled and loaded to the eyeballs with bloatware“. If history has taught us anything since the Galaxy family has been around, it is the fact that Verizon Wireless tends to lock the daylights out of every phone in in their line up. It is in fact, one of the only carriers world wide that actually sell bootloader lock…

Is this a big no-no or something? I read conflicting reports online about stuff, but I can clearly find some Apps for it in the Market (Like PDANet and EasyTether, both which cost about $9.99) Apparently I can use my Droid (unlimited data plan) as an internet service provider. The programs claim you can even use it to use your 360 or PS3 wirelessly with the connection. Any truths to this? Would I get in trouble with Verizon for using it in this way? What could they possibly do even to stop me?

I bought these after an intensive investigation of all the wireless headsets out there. I had a lot of input from members in the Gamercide community and I would like to thank them for their efforts. My conclusion was that the Astro A 40's seemed to be the best out there. I was all set to buy them until I found out they wanted $30 to ship them in 3-5 days. I thought that was an enormous amount of coin to shell out so I looked elsewhere. Glad I did. The Turtle Beach PX5's are just awesome! Sound is clear as crystal. Presets are easy to use and a voice prompt tells you what mode you're in.Those I spoke to in chat said I sounded clear and clean. No feedback to report or backg…

I have prettymuch decided that I want an Android tablet. I have been looking at the new Nexus 7 Tablet, but am somewhat turned off by the idea that there is no sdcard slot. I know a few of you have tablets and am interested in recommendations. Here is what I am looking for: Price Range: $150-$300 GPS: yes MicroSD: yes Memory: ~1GB Processor: Tegra 2 or Tegra 3 WiFi: yes 3G/4G: no Android Version: 4.0 ICS or 4.1 Jellybean preferred. Good development community for rooting, custom ROMs, etc. Any ideas? Been looking at the Samsung Galaxy series and a few from Asus so far.

  13. Not necessarily a product review from myself, but I wanted to say that this thing is seriously AWESOME. Very well made, looks pretty great and super sturdy with an absolute TON of space to put things in and hold stuff! http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/aaa5/ I picked one of these up because they were half off last week, and it is so worth it. Fits my laptop perfectly with plenty of space to spare. Even can lug around my PS4, two controllers, cables, and a bunch of games with extra room also. If you're looking for a pretty great messenger bag, even just something to pack stuff to travel with, I would recommend this highly. Two panda thumbs up.

So under PK's recommendation I set out upon the world and got myself a new Tritton headset. I must say it is one of the best purchases I have made in awhile lol. Thank you PK! The sound quality is amazing. Now I don't feel so compelled to buy a home theater system one day. The ones I got are the Tritton AX 720. I went mid grade because head sets cost way more than I thought they would. It's weird that it never crossed my mine as a must have. Now I can mute the TV and play my games in full sound without bugging anyone. They also work on any console and my Mac! I am very happy with the ones I got and recommend getting something even if you go a little cheaper than I did. It…

  15. So I have some money together and am thinking of getting the first wave of parts for my PC rebuild. I already have a 1k watt modular PSU, GTX 680 GPU, good SB Recon sound card, and BlackMagic capture card to transfer over. I will decide on a mobo/cpu (probably a good mobo and an intel i7 hexacore) when I have the rest to comfortably buy it (within a month or so). But here's what I might order tonight: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=32567288 I also have a second of that 8GB stick of RAM, so the other is for proper dual-channelling. The case that I already have is the NZXT Phantom 410 in white, that totally looks Portal-themed: …

Well. I just made my after Christmas, probably getting a new job, my birthday is in a week, and don't tell the wife the total cost purchase. Brand new Astro A40 Wireless System. http://www.astrogaming.com/ Astro needs to call Tritton and thank them for selling me the worst pos ever. The AX180s. My experience with them has been so horrid that I had to have the opposite of fail and opted for a great headset ( I hope ) . I'll be honest that I think they are over priced. Well, the headset is. The mixamp is worth it. Especially the wireless one that was on sale the past month. 100 bucks for xbox 360/ ps3 surround compatibility with any standard headset is a great pi…

Well, I've been following XCM since I first bought my Xbox 360 and wished I could use a mouse and keyboard with it. They have finally released a version of their hardware that I am very interested in. http://www.totalconsole.com/servlet/the-1063/XFPS-5.0-for-PS3/Detail http://www.xcm.cc/xfps_5.0.htm The old versions were hardware based only and you had to take the time to individually map the keys one at a time. The latest one connects directly to a PC or laptop and uses their keyboard/mouse . All the keys are mappable in software which makes switching between games MUCH easier. I just ordered it today, and I'm hoping it will arrive sometime next week. I'll let yo…

The A40's I was going to buy on Amazon are not eligible for prime. So ok. I have to pay for shipping. W/E right? Shipping on this item is $30 for 3-5 days! 2 day shipping is: *Wait for it* $61! I just am not going to do that. It's the same on the Astros website. WTF?! NO. Anyone else feel this is excessive?

Got my hands on this the day it launch, stood in line for 9 hours at an AT&T store. 16GB black. Worth every dime I invested into buying it and waiting for it through the rain. Maybe, I'll get some pictures up of it if I can ever find my damn memory card for my camera. Until then for those who were thinking about it and are scared about the issues plaguing the phone. Nothing on my end to report.
