It's soup season so I made this: Includes potatoes, bacon, green onions, cilantro, parsley, butter, flour, sour cream, shredded cheese, and milk. Anyone else like to cook, soups or otherwise?

September was childhood cancer awareness month, but Granite's school is showing support tomorrow by having all of the kids and staff wear yellow shirts. This is especially important because yesterday we found out that a family that goes to the same church where Granite has Sunday School....their little 2 year old boy was diagnosed with Leukemia after they took him to the emergency room for what they though were belly issues. The boy was immediately flown to the Hershey Medical Center which in this area is the best place to receive care. So far he has had five blood transfusions, 1 platelet transfusion, and will be receiving a pic line in his spine for chemo and also a …

  5. ..... my mother asked me if I wouldn't mind tidying up the house since my grandparents are coming over for dinner. I can't really say no, I've been living here rent free, aaaaaand I love my ma. Anyways, I raided the cleaning supplies and grabbed the Soft Scrub and a good scrubbing sponge. *puts Soft Scrub on the range top* ... *begins scrubbing range top in a circular motion* ... *stops for a moment and notices some cool looking waves* ... *puts down sponge and begins finger painting* Ladies and gentlemen, I may or may not have been smoking previously to this bout of kitchen cleaning I was embarking on, but I could not help but finger paint for a couple minutes. It j…

How's this for an innovative startup: four African girls — the eldest of which is just fifteen years old — have worked together to invent a generator that's powered by urine. The group presented their creation at this year's Maker Faire Africa, and it's so freaking brilliant it makes me want travel back in time and punch 15-year-old me right in the solar plexus. The Next Web lays out how it works: Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which cracks the urea into nitrogen, water, and hydrogen. The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder. The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which i…

Y'all need to stop having social lives and entertain me on the weekends. I live vicariously through you. Seriously, though, this weekend was balls. It's not even 9 PM right now, and I'm seriously considering going to sleep. There's just nothing to do and no one to talk to. I was so bored, I went over each map in Borderlands 2 to get two achievements I was missing. Ended up clearing out 3 of them.

Hurricane Sandy is going to hit me almost dead on in a few hours. They're saying mass power outages until the weekend or so. Mass flooding until at least midweek. I'll take some pics and upload them once I get back on the grid. Almost guaranteed to be out power for the next few days. At least I'm stocked up on beer!

  12. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Ben The story of Ben is a classic creepypasta, begun in a dark corner of the internet and propagated widely due to its sheer sinister appeal. The story involves a second-hand copy of Majora's Mask, its origin unknown. This particular cartridge had a save file named simply "BEN." The unfortunate player who spread the original story erased the file and started his own, but something was off. The NPCs in Clock Town still referred to him as BEN; music played backward; Link would spontaneously erupt in flames; and he was hounded by a strange statue—the same one that appears when you play the incredibly creepy "Elegy of Emptiness" on your oc…

  19. I found this on reddit a while back. Here are your choices. _____ Assume that you found a lamp, rubbed it, and out popped a genie. The genie says to you "I am a genie with the power to grant you wishes. However, I didn't finish genie school, so I only know how to grant a short list of possible wishes. Also, I am not so strong, so you only get two, not three." The genie then hands you the list of possible wishes, listed below. The genie is not malevolent and there are no "tricks" in wording or the like: you will get the obvious, standard interpretation of the wishes in plain language. Which two do you choose and why? A. You lose the physical requirement to eat, drink, and …

So, I'm bored and feel like something fun would be to troll the Internet for different scary stories you may or may not have heard before and post them, one a week. _____ Three days ago, my last living grandparent, my mother's father passed away at the age of 89. He was a WWII vet, and my mom tells me that after returning home from the Navy, he was never quite the same. In factm he was pretty paranoid about nearly everything. I was never really allowed to stay at his house. In 1965, his wife died suddenly, with no real explanation. My mother tells me that my grandfather became extremely fearful of a nuclear was with the communists, and that he started to dig a bomb shelte…

  21. Welp, it's been a while since I posted a daily WTF. This is too good to pass up. Have you eaten yet? If you have you may want to wait a little bit before clicking the following. Don't worry. It's not sexual or violent or particularly offensive, but damn is it hard to look at. It's a new "body modification", currently pretty popular (for reasons beyond me) in Tokyo. WARNING: Pretty effed up shiznat here

Mila Kunis was voted sexiest woman of the year. Who would you choose? I'm not talking all time or anything like that. Just someone this year who may slipped onto the radar or you just found to be incredibly sexy. For me I have to give it to.....Kate Upton. She's gorgeous, has a beautiful body and she totally blew off being called "fat" by some super skinny reporter who clearly has some body images issues because she is definitely not fat.
