General Discussion

CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon, apologized on Wednesday for publicly opposing marijuana legalization, saying science was clearly on the side of the drug. “I think we have been terribly and systematically misled in this country for some time, and I did part of that misleading,” he told CNN host Piers Morgan. http://youtu.be/1Tqg2y3yYR0 http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/08/07/cnns-sanjay-gupta-americans-terribly-and-systematically-misled-about-marijuana/

Edward Snowden email host Lavabit shuts down rather than continuing to comply with secret US gag orders. https://lavabit.com/ My Fellow Users, I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit. After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations. I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot. I feel you deserve to know what’s going on--the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this. Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

NSA controls global Internet traffic via private fiber-optic cables http://rt.com/usa/nsa-fiber-optic-cable-790/ Here’s what can go wrong when the government builds a huge database about Americans http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/07/08/heres-what-can-go-wrong-when-the-government-builds-a-huge-database-about-americans/ Happy reading.

So, I always get a lot of questions about computer upgrades and computer builds. I often refer to this for my own suggestions. Anyone looking to upgrade or build should certainly refer to this guide. It lists builds from ~$600 all the way to ~$5000 and explains why it chose the products it did. Usually linking to reviews of the products. It's a great place to start researching a new build. http://www.techspot.com/guides/buying/

Just recently I've started to notice a whole bunch of ads and stuff on our forums page. Something from Toparcadehits? Anyone else see or notice any ads? I'm even using adblock, it's weird.

My dad started noticing money going missing from our account so he went to check out where it was going. Turns out Barnes and Nobles has been charging my sister for books that they have labeled as "Free". So while ym dad started to try and get it fixed by calling them I googled it real quick and found(http://websearch.about.com/b/2009/07/21/free-ebooks-at-barnes-and-noble.htm) turns out alot of people are coming across the same issue. So if you have a Nook and use their eshop make sure you stay away from these so called "Free" books.

Figure I'd create a thread for this. If your looking for trading cards, I currently have extras for: Prison Architect Skyrim Torchlight II

Hey all! I'll be gone for a week (maybe 8 or 9 days) and am taking a MUCH NEEDED vacation. My parents own a house down in Florida so I'm going to be staying down there. I'm super excited. I think I'm going to go to Sea World (Disney is a RIPOFF it's so damn expensive now, and I have corporate discounts I can use on for Sea World tickets), and I'm thinking I may go check out this Sleuth's Mystery Dinner show also which sounds kind of cheesy and fun. That being said, I won't be around for my regular streaming hours so someone is going to have to take over for me on that Friday and following Monday. Not sure if I'll be back for that next Friday's stream either! Dam…

BECAUSE WE'RE ALL PEDOPHILES,RIGHT?

Ryan Davis passed away on July 3rd. He was 34. Obviously we’re all stunned over here. Ryan was a good friend to all of us. It’s odd to remember that, for someone who could be so acerbic at times, and despite knowing him for almost a decade, I honestly don’t recall ever actually being mad at him. He had an unconventional type of kindness that expressed itself more strongly the longer one knew him, and despite his teasing nature, he always managed to make his close friends feel loved when his attention turned towards you. Many of you know that Ryan was recently married. In the face of this awfulness, many of us will at least always remember him as we last saw him: outra…

President Mohamed Morsi has been stripped of his power by the Egyptian army and the constitution has been suspended, General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said in a statement. Egypt's chief justice of the constitutional court will become the interim president. Morsi has moved to an "undisclosed location," a presidential aide told AP.
