I haven't owned a portable gaming device since the game boy and even then I didn't use it much outside of my home. That story has changed now that I own an iPhone. I just purchased GTA 3 for my phone. That is just amazing to me. I can take a game I spent hours in front of a tv playing anywhere. That's not to mention tons of great classics like Final Fantasy 1-3 and Chrono Trigger. Plus new games that just amaze me like Infinity Blade 1&2. Now, my question is do you see a phone as a mobile gaming device? I do. Granted it takes some good design to make them playable but there are tons of games that will work. I actually would love to see more classics brought to the …

  2. Developer: Nintendo Publisher: Nintendo Genre: Action-Adventure Platform: Nintendo 3DS Release Date: November 22, 2013 When The Legend of Zelda released in 1987 I was 8 years old and it quickly became one of my favorite game franchises of all time. Through the years I have played and still own every single Legend of Zelda game that has been released. From the 1987 classic, to the downright travesties of the CD-i games, all the way through the latest A Link Between Worlds, I’ve played them all through to completion. While the original is still my favorite, I have loved them all (Yes even the terrible ones). I’m proud to say A Link Between Worlds is not terrible and is on…

So I stumbled across this awesome downloadable program on Nintendo's downloadable DSWare service. It's a beautiful little thing called "Art Academy". Currently there are two downloable titles, First Semester and Second Semester. I downloaded the First Semester and gave it a go. It REALLY imitates drawing in a very lifelike fashion and allows you to select multiple kinds of pencils (hard/medium/soft), as well as a wonderful watercolor painting utility to switch to after you're done with the pencil work where you can adjust the amount of paint and water to use to make some amazing effects. The "game" basically teaches you how to draw and paint, starting with very simple pe…

  9. If you have a PSP, and enjoy RPG games, I HIGHLY recommend downloading Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. It's half off right now on the Playstation Network for the next few days. Retails for $29.99 and you can pick it up for only $14.99! Well worth it! Was a great RPG when it came out a long time ago on SegaCD, and now it has updated graphics and additional content. Great game and pretty funny. Here's a comparison screen of the original to the update:

Great game if you're into MLB The Show, has a My Player mode where you can retire your player and build him up and stronger. Just added achievements to Gamecenter, it's a $3 or $5 game, can't remember exactly but worth it.

In my efforts to beef up the handheld section of the forums I wanted to mention this game that carries the Shin Megami Tensei name: I picked this up recently and this game feels like a hidden gem. It was not immediate at first. I had to play a couple hrs and it really ramped up. The graphics look classic since this is a re-release of a DS game for 3DS, but the gameplay is amazing. I am a sucker for turn-based combat and even more so if it involves a tactical grid and character customization like the latest XCOM. It is challenging as well which I welcome. One or two wrong moves and it could cost you. Its got an interesting story and a demon collection system that…

  14. So I used to draw a bunch on my DSi when I had it a while back. I think I posted some pictures too back then of some of the digital scribbles I've done with it. The 3DS has an even better program called "Colors 3D", and it lets you use 5 different "layers" to add depth to the picture through the use of the 3D slider thingy on the handheld. And yes, you'll probably be able to discern that I like anime and draw a lot of cartoon crap. Blah blah blah, here's some of the crap I've done in the past couple months. Do you like to draw? I'd love to check out your stuff too! Vegeta from Dragonball Z Some little girl from Full Metal Alchemist Kratos from God of War Deidar…

So it looks like there is going to be an Evil Dead game on the iPhone. It looks like Nintendo Miis getting chainsawed and tree raped. Honestly don't know what to think about it just yet. There needs to be a "scared" face for the little Miis though. Something about a straight faced Mii Ash that is just odd. Take a look at the trailer:

  16. So I played the demo for that Gladiator game on the PSP. My god, it's SUUUUUCCCHHH a blatant rip-off of the Spartacus TV show. LoL Right down to the ludus (gladiatorial housing/training complex) looking almost exactly the same, having a black guy as your mentor/trainer, etc.

Christmas/Birthday is coming up, and I've always wanted a Wii however I always wanted a 3ds also. Not really sure why, I guess because I haven't played a nintendo game since the 64 and I miss it. So my question is what should I get, I would love to have a Wii so me my girlfriend and the kid can play it together, but then again I wouldn't mind a handheld so if I get bored I can fire it up real quick and play. Should I just get a wii? I was looking at the 3ds or the playstation equivalent. What do you guys think?

  18. I saw this on an unmentionable other gaming website. While the new 3DS is going to be awesome, I have to admit some of the screens look a tad jaggy. We'll have to see how it turns out and how well it runs but check this out. Looks pretty good right? How about this one. Hey, that doesn't look all th.... MOTHER OF GOD WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH RYU'S FACE!? *pulls a CSI* ENHANCE!!!!! That face is priceless. LoL

Carmack went on to explain that although the pocket-sized iPhone lacks things like tactile feedback, it offers a comparable amount of muscle to the original Xbox or PlayStation 2. In fact, he said the device could kill anything done on a previous-generation console, adding that it's not far off from the current-generation machines -- a bold claim to be sure, but the preview does look stunning. http://www.techspot.com/news/39954-ids-rage-coming-to-iphone-kills-xbox-and-ps2-games.html Reason to buy one? Not really, but cool non the less if the control scheme is workable.

So, I've finally received my DSi an hour ago, and bought Pokemon Heart Gold because Pokemon is the ****. Now, good folks of GC, I must know what other games I should buy. I already have a list of sorts. Don't get me wrong, it's an AMAZING device. It's powerful, has a super sexy screen and is capable of some serious console quality gaming. The problem is there is NO GAMES. Sony is failing hard on this one. I thought for sure they would strike out hard with their new handheld, considering it has dual analogs and all that beefy hardware. I can only play so much PSOne Classics (mostly RPGs). I don't have much else to play considering I've been through Gravity Rush, the Metal Gear HD Collection, Ragnarok Oddysey and Uncharted. Anyone else have a Vita who feels the same way?
