  2. Two scientists programmed a bunch of robots to play hide & seek. What they're researching is how to make the hiding robot "deceive" the hunters. Great, now we're not only going to have robots that will hunt us down and kill us, but they'll be able to hide and cover their own tracks so we'll have NO EFFING CLUE where they're coming from!. /facepalm "The hider's set of false communications was defined by selecting a pattern of knocked over markers that indicated a false hiding position," explains Wagner. This fiendish plan apparently fooled the hunter droids 75 per cent of the time. "We have developed algorithms that allow a robot to determine whether it should …

  4. Ok. So maybe it's not the vault from Fallout, but it's still pretty cool. They're digging massive caverns under Chicago to keep sewage from flooding into Lake Michigan. http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/artificial-caverns-expanding-beneath.html Don't be mad about the misleading topic title though! LoL

*Scottie picks up computer mouse and begins to talk into it* "Hello computer." Remember in Star Trek IV (one of the crappier sequels in my mind), when they need material to re-fit a storage bay to contain the humpback whales? It was supposedly 1986, and they needed a material strong enough to hold that many gallons of water but it didn't quite exist yet? What was the magic material? TRANSPARENT ALUMINUM!!! Well it's been a pipedream for a long time now. We've kind of known how to create it for a little while but it was near impossible to sustain. From Wiki: To create transparent aluminium, more power than is used by an entire city had to be focused into a dot with …

Imagine waking up, showering and then spraying on your clothes. Sipping your morning coffee, while your newly sprayed on clothes are drying onto you. What I find most fascinating about it all is, it's reusable. Once it's applied, it can be removed, washed and worn again. http://www.fabricanltd.com/ Still want my hover board. Get to work, you so called "scientists".

That the person who does the voicework for Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War series is also the voice of.... BENDER FROM FUTURAMA? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0224007/ Also, my mind is even more blown. The person who did the voice for Shredder in the original TMNT cartoon? UNCLE PHIL FROM THE FRESH PRINCE! hahaha! Wow.

I know there's a game deals thread..... but i didn't want to post in it right now and draw attention away from the browser problem currently going on. any ways here's the deal...... amazon.com seems to be having game deals in it's lightning deals thread all day long. they only last for an hour on average, but some of the deals are good, and they're newish games like madden on ps3 and what looks to be shattered dimensions among others.

  16. Well? What would happen? Who knows. It's pretty crazy though, to try to imagine putting a hand or body in front of a proton beam going at 99.9999991% the speed of light. Well the researchers at the LHC were asked that question, and honestly they had no idea either. It's strange though. Have they THOUGHT about it? I mean who creates a device that can shoot things at nearly the speed of light and DOESN'T think about shooting an actual living object with it? http://blogs.discove...the-lhc-stream/ A bunch of the scientists have different answers and theories about what would happen. I like the one scientist who says that the amount of energy travelling in that bea…

  21. Sad. Ironic, but sad. The multi-millionaire owner of the Segway company died Sunday when he fell off a cliff while riding the famous motorized scooter, the Telegraph reports. Jimi Heselden, 62, died after skidding off a cliff at his estate in Yorkshire, England. He was reportedly testing a cross-country version of the upright, two-wheeled scooter when he plunged from the cliff. Heselden's body was later found in a river by a passerby, the newspaper reports. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8027301/Segway-company-owner-dies-riding-two-wheeled-machine-off-cliff.html
