Where do I place my faith, in a world in such despair. I'm left in a spinning circle, with nowhere to go. I wish to keep in touch with a life left without repair. I can only keep moving on, with comfort in what I know. Life will lead me out, just as it led me in. I can only guess the outcome, and never know the end. I'll make it through the struggle that started from within. I don't know where I'm going, but have the knowledge of where I've been. I feel the pull of temptation, and I can't help but to relent. The mistakes I've made today I will pay for with regret. I can only hope my salvation lies in my ability to repent. Though, life is a hard road, I know my path is nev…

For those of you who dare follow my ranting on twitter I mention my novel, Ricochet a lot. Spawn recently asked if there was a preview up anywhere, and while I thought I had posted one, I hadn't. This is it. This isn't the beginning, it's taken from the middle of the novel where the story takes a turn. I snipped a little bit of it to spare you all some spoilers. Anyhow, grammar is probably atrocious, but it's in it's roughest state. It was an accident. You were driving way to fast on an icy road. Blinded by your anger you never saw the turn coming, although in hindsight you should have known better. After all, you drove this road every day. But everything is different whe…

Wrote this the other night at work. May revise, add or scrap it all together. Figured I'd share it either way. Room Number 8 The smoke dispersed from the barrel like a man's last dying breath in a frigid winter's night. His last breath was not as beautiful. It was only spent uttering a final plea, a whisper of her name, too late. It was only a few moments ago he was telling her that he loved her, oh, how he had loved her. But, he couldn't see. No, he couldn't see the cold steel held behind her back in knuckles turned white with her grip. His gaze was focused on her instead, scantily clad in white lingerie. He could not peel his eyes away from her body. The pale yellow lig…

May as well post about another graphic novel series that was pretty great. Scott Pilgrim is at times down to earth and fairly serious, while at other times over the top and stylized like a video game. Tons of awesome references in it. I read this series back around the time the movie was coming out, and the movie is yet another great adaptation. The books are even being rereleased in colorized versions. Anyone else ever check these out?

As the title implies, this is something that I wanted to share. I had a creative paper project that was due for my Arts and Humanities course on Sunday. I was supposed to come up with a monument that I would have erected in my honor and describe why, who I am, and include what I learned from the course this semester. This was a unique project for me, because this is also child abuse awareness month. I found this in a way therapeutic that I could tie my childhood past into this project. This is what I wrote. I cut it off where it starts to turn into boring class crap. As a child, I did not feel much love if any love from my mother and as a young girl who dreams wer…

A mysterious stranger appears in Corpus Christi, Texas as a Category-5 hurricane rolls in off the coast. As families make an attempt to prepare for the worst, they have no idea that they have front-row seats to the beginning of the Apocalypse. The Four Horsemen have come down to end it all. The stranger is looking for a young-boy named Caleb Hodes, a boy that might be the key to stopping the world from ending. But how do you save the world when God is the one trying to destroy it? The Ending by Mikey Neumann (The Returners, Borderlands) is an epic for a new generation of readers. It raises questions of faith, creation and existence against an action-packed coming-of-a…

Anyone read this series of books? I'm incredibly late, but I just started on them. A lot of people I know kept telling me to pick these up, and I never got around to it. I saw the trailer for the movie adaptation and thought it was interesting, so I went and bought all 3. I'm a few chapters in the first one at the moment, but I absolutely love it.

This is another young adult series by Rick Riordan that makes me wet my pants. I'm not sure how many of us read young adult books, but I love them, It has 3 books in total: The Throne Of Fire, The Red Pyramid and The Serpent's Shadow. The books follow the adventures of Sadie and Carter Kane as they learn they are Egyptian magicians and well, they have to save the world..no pressure. If you enjoy YA books, they're def worth reading. I find Riordan to be an incredible author, and dare on the same level, if not better than Rowlings. He just doesn't have the same fame, which is unfortunate because his book are really good.

Not everyone can be a hero. This phrase, and ones similar to it, have been spoken throughout generations. Teachers, parents, leaders, they have all said it, and everyone has heard it. Not once or twice but a hundred thousand times. If everyone had a super power then what would the world even be? Just a bunch of beefed up super dudes bro fisting each other so hard that they collapse a nearby building. I get it, not everybody is special, but that doesn’t stop us from dreaming. Nobody knows how the heroes came to be, there are the rumors and tinfoil hat theories. Most people? They just don’t care. They go about their normal lives, with some minor hero inconveniences. D…

This is a good read by the writer of the first Borderlands game. http://www.amazon.com/The-Returners-Season-Omnibus-ebook/dp/B00AUA9QV4/ref=pd_sim_kstore_3 Alex Heton is living a second life and so is his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend, Chloe. Before long, they find out that there are many out there like themselves, from Eliot Ness to a thirteen-year-old Albert Einstein. As the group tries to band together and figure out how they have returned, they are hunted by a crazed killer who is just like them: a retu…

JB included this book into my awesome Secret Santa package last Christmas. I'm really glad he did. It is a fascinating history lesson. My son is now reading it, and he's already hooked. I didn't like the format of the book at first. It'd state facts and stories, and intermingled direct quotes from the people behind the games/companies. I soon loved the format, though, since it gave time capsule-esque rantings and sour grape quotes (Trip Hawkins, I look at you). The video game world is CUT THROAT. The people can be vicious and especially, underhanded. It starts at the coin op era, before they released Pong. Many of the big names in gaming today, had their fingers in gaming…

This kinda spawned from Av's thread, but I was curious. Who are your favorite authors? Personally, my top three are J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter is my favorite series of all time), Cormac McCarthy, and Ayn Rand.
