Ok, so you went off the beaten path, be sure to post it here.

  1. I found this on reddit a while back. Here are your choices. _____ Assume that you found a lamp, rubbed it, and out popped a genie. The genie says to you "I am a genie with the power to grant you wishes. However, I didn't finish genie school, so I only know how to grant a short list of possible wishes. Also, I am not so strong, so you only get two, not three." The genie then hands you the list of possible wishes, listed below. The genie is not malevolent and there are no "tricks" in wording or the like: you will get the obvious, standard interpretation of the wishes in plain language. Which two do you choose and why? A. You lose the physical requirement to eat, drink, and …

  4. Hamill took some convincing to sign on for the sequel. "My answer to [developers Rocksteady] for the sequel was, 'Guys, we're never going to be able to top the original.' It was so claustrophobic. There were so many abilities like the stealth mode, and all those things you can do with the new technology. I wanted to be able to say I'd gone out on a high note." It was the same reaction he'd had when Rocksteady first approached him about the role in the original Batman: Arkham Asylum. "When they said, 'We want you to come back [to the role of The Joker] and do Arkham,' I said the same; 'I left on a high note, I don't think we could ever top that.' But they said, 'We got Pau…

  5. So Anonymous hacked into that U.S. Security Firm HBGary, defaced their page and called out some CEO guy. Well apparently in their hackings they also stumbled across a fairly big part of the source code for the Stuxnet supervirus which took out Iran's nuclear reactors. I guess this has some people worried that they could reverse engineer it somehow, but I don't see how they can with only part of the source code.

  7. Started by CHINESE BABOON,

Yesterday, I finally graduated from Penn State and begin working full time in Pittsburgh on June 10th. It's kind of surreal finally finishing school and that I'll prob never set foot in a classroom ever again. I was fortunate enough to have my family come and my girlfriend too from Brooklyn. I'll try and maybe post some pictures later. Hard to believe I was a freshman in High School when I joined the ATC and now I'm a college graduate entering the real world...

engadget This just full on creeps me out. It looks like a real person and mimics facial expressions. It's being used in hospitals in Japan to gauge peoples facial expressions. Click on the link for the video of it in action.

  10. So Stealthy has been bugging me about getting a Mic for my PC. LoL I haven't had one, and I've been using a really crappy pair of earbuds from an old MP3 player on my PC in the evenings when Coy was sleeping. Hit up Best Buy today and ended up getting a set of these. http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/computer/gaming-headsets/gamecom-377 On sale, unopened for $19.99! What d'ya think? Good buy? I think I like them so far. Pretty comfortable and sound actually decent even though they're only a stereo set and not "surround".

  11. This is pretty sweet. I'm glad that they're trying to at least give them things like a little mini-projector, MPEG player and other amenities since they're going to be stuck down there for 4 months. I wonder how they're going to deal with the battery life of the PSPs though. Yikes. http://gizmodo.com/5...miners-get-psps I love the comment on the Giz site though. 12. So, I FINALLY won the battle with my new 680GTX and made my water block fit today. It didn't go as easy as I could have hoped. Had to do some modifications of the card to get the water block to fit. Pulled the 480GTX: Had to pull out all my bags of tricks: I thought these tabs were the only thing in the way. Ground them down: Installed everything. Looked and felt like everything was making contact: This wasn't the case. It must have had just a tiny gap. My temps were just about the same as on air. In other words. Complete failure. Back to the Dremel board: With a little, lot? more modification I made some clearance: This time I was confident that it was making ful…

  15. So if it's not enough that they needed to big an even larger atom smasher (CERN Labs), now they are going to try to build a laser that is so powerful it's theorized it may be able to rip a hole in space-time. http://dvice.com/archives/2011/04/new-laser-will.php "At peak power, the fourth laser in Europe's Extreme Light Infrastructure project (or ELI) will combine ten beams into a single pulse measuring 200 petawatts. 200 petawatts is significantly more power that our entire race generates at any given moment, and in fact more total power than Earth receives from the sun. The 200 petawatt pulses will only last 1.5 x 10^-14 second, which is about the same amount of time…

  18. http://gawker.com/the-chilling-case-of-fat-longpig-the-cannibal-with-a-493196615 I want to cry after reading this article. Granted I don't know if he actually DID anything (other than distribute and look at child pornography which in itself is atrocious), but people like this who actually go THAT FAR in creating the scene where they will do the deeds need to be locked up and the key thrown away.... ...or hit in the head with a brick repeatedly. Preferably the second option. During the execution of the search warrant at PORTWAY’s residence, HSI agents also discovered a locked door in the basement of the residence. Inside the door was a sally port that led to …

  19. Started by Avahra,

So I've been writing my entire life, as most of you who've known me already know. Usually I share it with a few people but never really put myself out there. I finally sucked it up and started sending out short stories to lit magazines to see if I could get any bites. I collected a handful of things I had written recently, had some other inspiring author friends pick their favorite and sent it out to a couple lit magazines. I just got my first rejection. I anticipated being rejected, these magazines have really shit/low acceptation rates. but it doesn't lessen the sting of it any less. So anyways, here is the short story that was ultimately rejected (their l…

I never thought it would happen, but Brock got brutalized. Cain Velasquez managed to weather the storm as Brock came out strong and hard at the start of the first round. He then showed that technique triumphs over horsepower. Giving up a significant 20 pounds to the champ, he not only won, but won decisively as he beat Brock into a bloody pulp at about four minutes into the first round. Jake Shields made his UFC debut with a lackluster win over Martin Kampman. Though there are questions about whether the 20 pound drop in weight to make 170 was a decisive factor in his conditioning. He looked absolutely exhausted by the third round, but managed to pull off the W. Die…

So, for a while I haven't been on here and I miss all you guys. I'll start with that. Anyway, despite being swamped with work, college starting soon, all my friends leaving me, and whatnot, we decided to have some fun. I went skydiving roughly 9 hours ago. Here are some pictures and the quick sample video. I'll have the full one soon when it comes in the mail! And the link to the video is right here unless I can embed it. http://www.funskydiv...eo=NITE0312.swf

http://feeds.wired.com/~r/wired/index/~3/P3hGcp3kM0E/ A new holographic display can transmit three-dimensional movies from one location to another almost in real time. If Princess Leia had to send her “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope” message from Earth today, it would now be technologically possible.
