I will be going out of town from Friday June 1st and won't be back until Sunday June 10th. I'll have my phone with me to check in from time to time, but if there are any major problems I may not see them immediately. If any site problems arise during that time shoot me an email at admin@gamercide.org or message me in twitter @dateranoth

Famous Russian singer and internet sensation, Eduard Khil, passed away today (whatever time it is over there) at the age of 77. I know he had a really bad stroke last week and wasn't going well. Looks like it took a turn for the worst and wasn't able to recover.

In what will go down in history as one of the biggest ****-moves in the video game industry, THQ has fired its San Diego team right when E3 was going on. According to Kristan Reed from Pocket Gamer, they hoped that with all this E3 news going on, the recent sacking of an entire team would get buried under it. Let’s hope it doesn’t. “THQ fired everyone at THQ San Diego today Dan. They did it on an E3 day to bury the news. Bad form.” Sources here Here

So I've had an idea I've been kicking around for a little while. I still like to write and I think occasionally, maybe once a week, I think I'm going to write up a short and humorous response article just here on the forums to something that irks me that I've read recently on the other major gaming sites or a counterpoint to something I disagree with. I was going to just call it "Chris's Counterpoint", but lately I like the idea of "The Pejorative Panda", because I'm a sarcastic *** and probably will be writing an article that may be a little belittling. That being said I'm looking for some sort of graphic I can pin to the top of my article. I'd save the base image but …

Okay. I know that I have been MIA for the longest amount of time. I've been working really hard with some friends about some business ventures. I can't really go into too much specifics since it's still a work-in-progress. All I can ask is that you imagine a lounge/bar with an eatery and has gaming consoles and computers for entertainment. I need the community's help in this. This is not a joke. This is a friend's dream on the line. I would like to know what everyone, specifically, would like to see in that place that would make them continue to be a frequent customer. Right now, the general consensus is that people would want: in-depth game coverages of tournaments, tou…

Below are a few resources for the Steam Summer Sale. To start, here is a wonderful Google doc that lists all the bundles for the sale as well as tips, rumors, and other general info: Original Google Doc Mirror (If above has trouble loading) Also helpful is the following thread on slickdeals that will be updated throughout the sale and link to all the items currently on sale: http://slickdeals.ne...igital-download Aside from the deals, Steam has also added Steam Badges to profiles. No idea what their purpose is yet as Valve does not seem to have said much about them. Lastly, if you have not already done so, I would add the Summer Camp group to your groups. Have fun, but …

Ok, I think I've finally brought everything back online. Let me know if anything is missing or not working for you. However, the web host is still in a hardware transition phase, so the site may get pretty slow at times. Welcome back.

I just noticed something and it got me thinking. I really feel that we're going to see an increase in standard game pricing now. What brought this up? $69.99. Seventy friggin' dollars for a game. It's been pointed out that this is probably the "deluxe" version but I am going to wager that the "deluxe" version is actually the "full" game they created. The "standard" editions of games are going to now be stripped down, weapons removed, character skins not included, maps not included, and so on. We all hate Day 1 DLC. It's been known for a while now, and now companies are beginning to see that and looking for other ways to make money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ag…

Tragedy strikes a denver suburb when an armed assailant enters a rise of the dark night showing through the theaters emergency exit and unloads an automatic rifle into the crowd. After taking him into custody authorities found an explosive device as well. 14 were injured with 10 dead at last update I saw, several were children. I for one am glad colorado has death penalty.

Famous patent troll Uniloc is suing the creators of popular indie title Minecraft (PDF), which it claims infringes a patent it holds on copy protection software. But it might need to improve its own game, as the filing misspells its target as "Mindcraft", and developer Markus "Notch" Persson has already vowed not to give in. "Step 1: Wake up. Step 2: Check email. Step 3: See we're being sued for patent infringement. Step 4: Smile," Notch wrote at Twitter. "Unfortunately for them, they're suing us over a software patent. If needed, I will throw piles of money at making sure they don't get a cent." Filed in 2001 and awarded in 2005, Uniloc's patent describes a system for "p…

Greeting fellow Gamercidists and random internet guests. Pretty much all of you know who I am and most of you have been subjected to my random and quite frequently repulsive/gross/strange/obscure postings around these forums. But for those who don't know me here goes. My name is Chris, my avatar has always been a panda, and frequently I come across things that downright piss me off. Enter the Pejorative Panda. This month saw the release of a game I was greatly looking forward to and yet at the same I was extremely concerned over the new direction the sequel was taking. The game in question was Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Heavily relying on the use of Microsoft's…

It's an older game, but it's so good. I don't know about you guys but when I look at a sequel to a game series I've never touched, I get frightened by how much I've missed and whether I will understand what's going on, but with DE:HR, after hearing that it's the prequel to the earlier games, I jumped at the opportunity to pick this up. Knowing how much I love RPG's and how I can spend hours in one room just snooping around, indulging was necessary here. The game's beginning cinematics are conspiracy based, which would make any such theorists' mouth water. There are a few people discussing a prototype which has not been released, but one they are definitely interested in.…

This is really awesome. It's a slingshot controller used to play Angry Birds. http://www.soundplusdesign.com/?p=5428 Would this renew your interest in the game? I think it would for me, if only for a little while.
