  7. EA is no stranger to controversy. Their push of making gamers pay for every little thing that they have to offer is just one example of the type of controversy that EA has been dealing with, but what about the heated controversy surrounding the upcoming Medal of Honor’s playable Taliban characters? Is EA in the wrong with this one especially when they almost lost support from the US Army? View the full article

  8. This is what's going to happen to most of us, as Cloud features become more prominent, and Netflix usage increases. We will effectively be cut-off from the internet, with no recourse and zero alternatives for cable access, thanks to the Comcast monopoly. Read this article and start getting mad. The more people who are informed and tired of this, the better for us all. http://bit.ly/qKGjAs Fuck you, Comcast.

No this is not replacing the Fail Award, which I plan to start up again here soon in October. This is something completely different. I think the name of the award says it all. If you guys like it, I'll keep doing it. The First Dumbass Award

  12. Occasionally we read something that is so far out there in the world of all things gaming that we have to take a moment and acknowledge those dumbasses with “The Dumbass Award”. Have you ever found yourself playing a game Frogger and thinking, “Gee, I want to play a real life version of Frogger.”. If you answered “yes” to that question, then you are just as insane as this guy who failed at playing a real life version of Frogger yesterday. A 23 year old dumbass from South Carolina was struck by a 2010 Lexus after attempting to navigate a four lane highway like the video game Frogger. He stood beside the highway and when traffic was coming he yelled, “Go!” and jumped in f…

I re-posted this back on the ATC, but I feel it needs to be read again. http://bunnyears.net/dan/?p=1057 Seriously, ellipsis' are rude and very much annoying, when not used appropriately. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis It's intended for a slight pause in speech. It's even fine for chat or IM's, when you want to indicate you're about to continue your discussion with another big block of text. It's not something you end each sentence with, or to leave as an insult. If you're annoyed with someone or something, say what it is. One period is the perfect number to end your sentence with. I put this in General Discussion, because I take this seriously. If you do, too, ple…

When talking about the Call of Duty series we tend to only think about the developer, publisher, release date, and recent controversies involving Infinity Ward and Activision, but what about the person who gives the series it’s behind the scenes story to ensure that gamers are having an aunthentic experience for what the game is based on? In a recent interview with AOL News, the real life Persian Gulf veteran and military history teacher at West Point, retired Lt. Col Hank Keirsey talks about his video game consultant job with the Call of Duty series. Most interestly in the interview, Keirsey notes the only people (soldiers and veterans) who have a right to complain abou…

  19. Next Generation Storage Media As games and film get bigger, ISP will struggle to find new ways of moving large amounts of data in a timely manner without clogging their servers. Regardless of how fast that industry moves, it will almost always be two, three or four steps behind companies like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and major movie distributors, when looking for the quickest and most cost effective way in getting media out to the consumer. In the future I'm certain the industry standard will be a 3 or 4 terabyte HDD on newer consoles and PCs, but with some games in the current market reaching has high as 40Gb, I don't think it's unreasonable to say in the next 5 or 10 …

This is srs business. I don't want to see this community cease to be nothing, and while I understand we all have busy lives etc etc, we need fresh blood. 90% of the people who come here don't get past the new users hello forums. etc blah blah whatever, this is about a grand idea I had while at work. This is an idea in process, so input is appreciated. I'd like to actually do this, and hopefully bring some life back to our community. Gamercide is going to host an UNO COMPETITION. Why uno? Because it's easy, and anyone can play. It's also a great social game, so we can get to know each other better. And it's a lot of fun. Some of you may remember our uno games in the past.…

  22. Here's a long, but good article on GPUs from Techspot. http://www.techspot.com/article/650-history-of-the-gpu/ The evolution of the modern graphics processor begins with the introduction of the first 3D add-in cards in 1995, followed by the widespread adoption of the 32-bit operating systems and the affordable personal computer. The graphics industry that existed before that largely consisted of a more prosaic 2D, non-PC architecture, with graphics boards better known by their chip’s alphanumeric naming conventions and their huge price tags. 3D gaming and virtualization PC graphics eventually coalesced from sources as diverse as arcade and console gaming, military…

Some of you may remember back in May, some indie developers got together and put on a cool little pack of games for charity called the Humble Indie Bundle. Enticing you with a hilarious video, you could choose how much you wanted to pay for the bundle, and how you wanted your money distributed between developers and charities. It turned out very successful, and it seems they’re at it again, with even more great games. The best part is you can still choose what to pay. You could donate a pittance, or you could donate a sizeable amount for bonus Karma, or “feel-good points” if you’re not into that sort of thing. Check out the video after you hit the jump 20 pixels belo…

  25. So I got a kilt. I posted a couple dorky pics in another thread, but here they are again. This Sunday I went to the 148th Annual Scottish Highland Gathering and Games in Pleasanton, CA and I used that kilt to participate in The Kilted Mile. I got fourth with a time of about 6:11, while the winner finished in 5:03. Pretty good, I'd say. My brother recorded this video for me, but only the first and last parts really matter because the track is so big that you can't see anyone once they get to the other side: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=665601880136386&saved
