  1. Elon Musk, the South African-born scientist who also oversees operations of the Tesla electric car, revealed on Monday the most information yet about his Hyperloop project, a transportation system that he previously said could move people from Los Angeles, California to San Francisco in half an hour. Details about Musk’s most elusive endeavor have been scarce until now, but on Monday he disclosed plans that could help push the project towards becoming a reality sometime soon. Musk’s concept, which came along with futuristic renderings of sleek aluminum passenger pods, the Hyperloop system would travel in an enclosed environment shielded by steel tubes, mounted on pyl…

    So I was going through some gaming forums and found numerous threads pointing out that they found the game offensive. The main complaint was the death sequences of the main character, which appears to be a small boy. There are also images of what appear to be other children hung by their necks. Now, I don't agree that the game is offensive, per se, but I could see where some could be offended by the imagery. I want to get your thoughts. What do you think, offensive or no? {This should go without saying, but don't start any arguments or I'll kill the thread. Be nice!!}

Very interesting read, and I do believe we'll be hearing more about this very soon. In fact, it could hold Skype coming to the 360 and other places.

  6. It appears that Twisted Pixel Games who brought ‘Splosion Man, Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley, and The Maw to an Xbox Live Arcade near you might be adding a Kinect Xbox Live Arcade to that list. If what appeared on Xbox.com earlier (it has since been removed) is true then The Gunstringer, the newest game on Twisted Pixel’s lineup is headed for the Arcade. The Gunstringer which is a western style Kinect friendly game will have gamers controlling a puppet as he seeks revenge on the western frontier. No news on an official release date, however Twisted Pixel stated that they expect it be completed in 2011. via Joystiq Tweet This Post View the full …

  7. A new report at SOFREP, a website for U.S. special operations forces, claims to shed light on the issue of why photos of slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's body were never released to the public. According to unnamed sources within the special ops community, the images would have been excessively gory, because contrary to reports from officials and those involved in the operation, U.S. troops fired countless rounds into bin Laden's body after killing him. In his book, "No Easy Day," Matt Bissonnette, a member of SEAL Team Six involved in the bin Laden raid, writes that he and another SEAL fired "several" rounds into bin Laden to make sure he was dead. But sources t…

  9. Well, it's almost here. This Tuesday, I have a(nother) bicep repair surgery at 9:30 in the morning. I'm going to be off work for 3 weeks...my surgeon wants me to take 8 weeks off, but there's not way I can afford that, so I talked him down to 3. This is my second bicep repair surgery in less than a year. *sigh* Sadly, it's the other arm this time...my right arm. Ugh...and I drive a stick shift. It's gonna be interesting to say the least. Wish me luck. At least I know what to expect...kinda sorta. Lot's of pain and difficulty bathing. Luckily, my b/f has offered to be my sexy male nurse.

    As I'm sure everyone has seen, the father of the Xbox and Zune, J Allard is leaving Microsoft. He will remain in and advisory role directly to Steve Ballmer. I didn't report on this on the main page, mainly because so many sources are doing it, I figured why bother. I do however doubt that many sources will report on the email from Allard that Major Nelson linked to earlier today on Twitter. I encourage everyone to read it and think about your job or hell, even your life in general. If you can't think some of these same things about what you do or aspire to do on a day to day basis, then maybe it's time for a change. http://blogs.technet.com/b/microsoft_blog/archive/…

    It seems that a new You Don't Know Jack game is going to be coming out as a downloadable release (XBLA, PSN, Wii) later this year. I am very excited to hear this, and the game may be one of the few 1200 MS point purchases I make (I can almost guarantee it will be $15). I loved the old YDKJ games, they were funny as hell. Especially the wacky commercials, which will also return in the new game.

  16. PlayStation 3 and PSP owners had cause to celebrate over the weekend, when Sony announced that it had begun enabling some functionality of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity, as well as relaunching Sony Online Entertainment games. However, despite Sony's claims to have rebuilt the services with a greater emphasis on security, Japanese officials are demanding greater transparency before authorizing their relaunch. Sony still faces hurdles before relaunching the PSN in Japan. The Dow Jones Newswire reports that Japan's Media and Content Industry department at the Ministry of Economy is holding up the relaunch of the services until Sony offers greater transparency on the s…

It created quite a stir on Twitter and other social media. I actually watched the podcast that video was made from, live and just knew it'd create controversy. When more than a week went by, I thought I was wrong. I guess TMZ just caught wind of it or something. Also, I'll share my thoughts on this later.

    A study of 42 gamers aged 15 to 21 who played for at least ten hours a week revealed that most have experienced ‘games transfer phenomena’ – doing or thinking things in real life as if they were still in a fantasy environment. The report said a few participants reported ‘criminal thoughts’ such as recreating Grand Theft Auto, which awards points for ‘wrecking things and killing people’ while they are driving. This video may upset some, so I've hidden it behind a spoiler button. It's a dad (also a judge) out of control whipping on his 16 year old daughter. Is it too far? Was there a time in the confrontation when it wasn't too far? How would you have punished your daughter for downloading games/music illegally? Should he still be a judge? Should his daughter have put this on the internet?

  22. In a case that’s sending a frightening message to the blogger community, a U.S. District Court judge ruled that a blogger must pay $2.5 million to an investment firm she wrote about — because she isn’t a real journalist. As reported by Seattle Weekly, Judge Marco A. Hernandez said Crystal Cox, who runs several blogs, wasn’t entitled to the protections afforded to journalists — specifically, Oregon’s media shield law for sources — because she wasn’t “affiliated with any newspaper, magazine, periodical, book, pamphlet, news service, wire service, news or feature syndicate, broadcast station or network, or cable television system.” The Obsidian Finance Group sued Cox in Janu…

  23. It's a tough decision, but I think I'm going to finally give it a rest. On June 6th, 2010 (if everything keeps going the way it is): I WILL HAVE PLAYED MY XBOX 360 EVERY DAY FOR THE PAST ONE THOUSAND DAYS STRAIGHT!!!! Yup, you read that correct. 1,000 days of straight gaming. Even if I didn't play for hours on a given day, I still found time to turn on my 360 for a quick round of an XBLA game or something. So, I'm going to let my "gaming streak" come to an end. I'm currently ranked as the #47th longest streak in the world on 360Voice with 951 consecutive days currently. It would have been longer, but I lost my streak back in 2006 during a super flood in my area. We…
