There is a casino in Atlantic City who is celebrating all things bacon this week with "...Bacon milkshakes. Chocolate-covered bacon shaped like roses. Bacon-flavored toothpaste, dental floss and lip balm. Bacon bourbon, margaritas, beer and vodka. Bacon ice cream sundaes. A BLT sandwich with a full pound of bacon." There is also ".....chocolate covered pretzels with crumbled bacon bits; chocolate-drizzled potato chips with bacon, two kinds of pasta dishes with bacon, bacon cupcakes, and bacon wrapped around a fake green stem to form roses, which were then dipped in chocolate." I like bacon and all during Sunday breakfast, on a cheeseburger, potatoes, or grilled ham and…

So today marks Day 5 of eating (drinking) only Soylent. If you haven't heard of it, it's supposed to be a quick meal that provides all your daily nutrients. Day 1 was a little tough purely for the sake of the taste of it. I'd rate it somewhere between sawdust and oatmeal. However I haven't been hungry at all since I switched over. It also helps that you prepare a batch for the day in the morning, then for every meal you simply grab a cup of the stuff and chug. My time spent preparing food and eating has gone from 1-2 hours to about 15 minutes total in a day. Plus it seems to be helping turn the tide on my weight gain lately. So that's a bonus point. Anyone else con…

Explanation: Is this an alien? Probably not, but of all the animals on Earth, the tardigrade might be the best candidate. That's because tardigrades are known to be able to go for decades without food or water, to survive temperatures from near absolute zero to well above the boiling point of water, to survive pressures from near zero to well above that on ocean floors, and to survive direct exposure to dangerous radiations. The far-ranging survivability of these extremophiles was tested in 2011 outside an orbiting space shuttle. Tardigrades are so durable partly because they can repair their own DNA and reduce their body water content to a few percent. Some of these m…

This is likely not interesting to some, but it was cool they grabbed him. Shut the plant down for a weekend while they filmed it. Looks like he will be directing and starring in these commercials for the next couple of years.

  15. So I finally got my first smartphone today. A Samsung Galaxy S4. Pretty nifty device. Sure there are bad things about AT&T, but it's awesome to have a device with me that can do so much. I had originally been thinking about getting an iPhone 5 until I had heard about this one and did some comparisons. So now I don't have to have another Apple product besides my iPod, yay.

  18. Welp, it's been a while since I posted a daily WTF. This is too good to pass up. Have you eaten yet? If you have you may want to wait a little bit before clicking the following. Don't worry. It's not sexual or violent or particularly offensive, but damn is it hard to look at. It's a new "body modification", currently pretty popular (for reasons beyond me) in Tokyo. WARNING: Pretty effed up shiznat here
