Police in a central Florida town say George Zimmerman was taken into custody Monday after his estranged wife reported that he was allegedly threatening her and her father with a gun.

Last week, his wife, Shellie Zimmerman. filed for divorce.

CNN quotes police as saying that Zimmerman is in "investigative custody."

Orlando TV station WKMG reports that Shellie Zimmerman's parents, David and Machelle Dean, live at the home in Lake Mary, Fla.

WKMG's SKY 6 helicopter of the scene shows at least a half-dozen police squad cars outside the house.

Zimmerman has been pulled over twice for speeding since his acquittal in the killing of a black unarmed teenager, Trayvon Martin.

Her attorney told ABC News that George pulled a knife on her today after she discovered a firearm in the house they shared. He then pulled a gun on her and her father after a verbal altercation went bad, according to attorney Kelly Sims.

Shellie Zimmerman told ABC News last week her husband was "selfish" and has been making "reckless decisions."

"In my opinion, he feels more invincible" since his acquittal, she said.

I'm confused. She said her Dad's nose was jacked up and looked broken, but the fire officials (why was it the fire officials that responded when she requested an ambulance?) were quoted saying "But fire officials who responded to the scene “checked everyone physically” and found that “no one had any visible marks or needed any treatment,” according to Hudson."

Anyhow, domestic disturbance. People do stupid shit when divorce time rolls around.

She said it looked jacked up and could be broken. And that's a good thought to have, even if it isn't broken.

I just hope the witness across the street gets interviewed and we get to hear/see it. When you're in the middle of the dispute and things get crazy, you're not always the best witness.

I also would like to know who is paying for Zimmerman's bodyguard.

Update on story

In an audio recording of Shellie Zimmerman's 911 call, she can be heard saying Zimmerman smashed an iPad she was holding and cut it with a pocket knife, struck her father in the nose and threatened both while putting a hand on a gun.

Deputy Police Chief Colin Morgan said officers did not recover a gun, and Bracknell said Shellie Zimmerman later dropped her claim that a gun was involved.

"Domestic violence can't be invoked because she has changed her story and says she didn't see a firearm," Bracknell said.

The dispute "was between him and his wife and her father,'' Morgan said. "There were some allegations that there had been an assault, but we could not confirm any of it.''
