Well, I finally got word that after much deliberation my short story Daemon didn't make the final cut. (huge sad face)... o well. As promised back in August, i am now posting it here for reading pleasure and if you feel like commenting or offering criticism, please DO. I can't grow as a writer without knowing what i might be doing wrong. Now, i will try to get this all nice and neat, but remember it was originally posted in double spacing in a word document so it might have a few glitches. And now, without further ado, I give you ... I recently got this in the mail...... winners haven't been announced just yet, but either way it's cool. I got invited to attend the winners award ceremony, and it's close enough to be doable. Got the day off from work, and even if i don't win, i'll get to schmooze with some pretty prominent authors, including Kevin J. Anderson and Larry Niven.

  5. Sad news. The original creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books has passed away this previous Sunday at the age of 78. R. A. Montgomery began creating what has now become the 4th best selling childrens series of all time in 1977 with the release of Journey Under the Sea. I have to admit for me this is sad because when I was growing up I friggin' LOVED these books and read them over and over. Sure, I would cheat sometimes and try to backwards figure out the best way to "get through" the books but they were really fun. Anyone else grow up with these books? Did you have any favorites? I loved ones like The Forbidden Castle, The Dragon's Den,…

Wrote this the other night at work. May revise, add or scrap it all together. Figured I'd share it either way. Room Number 8 The smoke dispersed from the barrel like a man's last dying breath in a frigid winter's night. His last breath was not as beautiful. It was only spent uttering a final plea, a whisper of her name, too late. It was only a few moments ago he was telling her that he loved her, oh, how he had loved her. But, he couldn't see. No, he couldn't see the cold steel held behind her back in knuckles turned white with her grip. His gaze was focused on her instead, scantily clad in white lingerie. He could not peel his eyes away from her body. The pale yellow lig…

I know we have some talented people in our forum who like to write; so i was wondering if any of you had tried the long ridge writers group course. I've heard both positive and negative things about it and wondered if any of you have experience with them.

  10. http://www.amazon.com/Conquered-Clippy-Erotic-Digital-Desires-ebook/dp/B00UJ01WBW/ Yes, someone seriously wrote an erotic fan-fiction digital novella..... about a paperclip. Christie Aackerlund doesn't need help with anything. So when the world's biggest technology company offers to fly her to a remote location and investigate an alien artifact, all by herself, she's all like "I'll do it! But the artifact isn't what it seems, and soon an overly helpful giant living paperclip is getting her all bent out of shape. I'm afraid, very afraid, but I can't wait to check out the user reviews of this in a few weeks once word starts getting around the internet.

These are quotes, not the entire poem “You could tie my tongue My lips, my teeth Split them into surrender Into a foreign language And I would still manage To cough up your name.” - Danielle Shorr, “Let” “They don’t know I only speak in runaway train stations and everybody is always a few minutes too late to the platform. No one has ever gotten the chance to get too close because it is never romantic to fuck the girl who makes love to her own sadness every single night.” - Katelin Wagner, “Disappearing Acts (after Miles Hodges)” Our love is hitchhiking across the California desert and no one is slowing down. Is a lie still a lie if you say it pretty? You’re saying…

  13. A mysterious stranger appears in Corpus Christi, Texas as a Category-5 hurricane rolls in off the coast. As families make an attempt to prepare for the worst, they have no idea that they have front-row seats to the beginning of the Apocalypse. The Four Horsemen have come down to end it all. The stranger is looking for a young-boy named Caleb Hodes, a boy that might be the key to stopping the world from ending. But how do you save the world when God is the one trying to destroy it? The Ending by Mikey Neumann (The Returners, Borderlands) is an epic for a new generation of readers. It raises questions of faith, creation and existence against an action-packed coming-of-a…

  16. JB included this book into my awesome Secret Santa package last Christmas. I'm really glad he did. It is a fascinating history lesson. My son is now reading it, and he's already hooked. I didn't like the format of the book at first. It'd state facts and stories, and intermingled direct quotes from the people behind the games/companies. I soon loved the format, though, since it gave time capsule-esque rantings and sour grape quotes (Trip Hawkins, I look at you). The video game world is CUT THROAT. The people can be vicious and especially, underhanded. It starts at the coin op era, before they released Pong. Many of the big names in gaming today, had their fingers in gaming…

Anyone have any ideas on how to figure out comic values and/or what they're worth? Been going through a bunch of my dad's old comics that I helped him store and bag and put away when I was a little kid that we all completely forgot about and I ran across this gem .... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You're looking at Avenger's issue #1, original from 1963 and in pretty fantastic condition despite the stupid camera phone picture (picture was taken in low light basement so I had to brighten it up a little). No rips, no tears, all pages intact and unstained, cover in great shape and no stickers (the sticker on the front is on the plastic sleeve, not the com…

This is a short story i wrote last year, i recently re-wrote it in 3rd person for a new contest. Let me know what you think, i know this type of viewpoint is usually reserved for comics, but i felt like it might work here too. Daemon by LGWyant Fall has truly come to Carlton Park as the cool November breeze sends leaves flittering around the browning grass. Oak and Elm trees that once were proud stood leafless, like penitent worshippers raising their hands to the sky praying for help. The Pines and Cedars contrastingly seemed to have a heavy coat of needles. They stood over the pathetically bare limbed deciduous like predators grinning at the thought of an easy m…

Some of you probably do not know that I am big on graphic design and art . I absolutely cherish this subject , but Kilian released his book OBJECT 10 which is a follow up to his OBJECT 5 . The book is a new volume featuring some of the artist’s recent illustration work. He has some of the most creative art work to this date and is someone I am influenced by myself . Soon , I am going to try and get into a college for Art & Graphic Design . Here are some pictures though and a little promotional clip .

What happens when the haggling is done and the shops are closed? When the quest has been given, the steeds saddled, and the adventurers are off to their next encounter? They keep the world running, the food cooked, and the horses shoed, yet what adventurer has ever spared a thought or concern for the Non-Player Characters? In the town of Maplebark, four such NPCs settle in for a night of actively ignoring the adventurers drinking in the tavern when things go quickly and fatally awry. Once the dust settles, these four find themselves faced with an impossible choice: pretend to be adventurers undertaking a task of near-certain death or see their town and loved ones destroy…
