Sad news. The original creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books has passed away this previous Sunday at the age of 78. R. A. Montgomery began creating what has now become the 4th best selling childrens series of all time in 1977 with the release of Journey Under the Sea. I have to admit for me this is sad because when I was growing up I friggin' LOVED these books and read them over and over. Sure, I would cheat sometimes and try to backwards figure out the best way to "get through" the books but they were really fun. Anyone else grow up with these books? Did you have any favorites? I loved ones like The Forbidden Castle, The Dragon's Den,…

So I stumbled across this recently while reading something Stephen Hawking recently said. Hawking was talking about how we should all just STFU and not try to contact alien life because there is a possibility that it would be like Columbus stumbling upon the Natives. "We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn't want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach." He concludes that trying to make contact with alien races is "a little to…

Just finished reading All In by, Paula Broadwell. Though, sometime a bit of a love affair with David Petraeus, I doubt it will change anyones already negative opinion on the man. It's still a fantastic read, giving some great insight into the single most influential figured in the modern American military. With alot of very compelling and heartbreaking stories from central figures in his battalion and other who'd worked closely with General Petraeus over the years. And it also touches on his views about support for the war dwindling over the years. The author really got a chance to pick the brain of General Petraeus and found a very dynamic and convicted man. Agree or di…

Anyone have any ideas on how to figure out comic values and/or what they're worth? Been going through a bunch of my dad's old comics that I helped him store and bag and put away when I was a little kid that we all completely forgot about and I ran across this gem .... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You're looking at Avenger's issue #1, original from 1963 and in pretty fantastic condition despite the stupid camera phone picture (picture was taken in low light basement so I had to brighten it up a little). No rips, no tears, all pages intact and unstained, cover in great shape and no stickers (the sticker on the front is on the plastic sleeve, not the com…

I decided to throw this down on the table for fans of the elder scrolls universe. I am a huge fan and have played all the games from start to finish, and with Skyrim just around the corner I wanted the community to know what happened in Morrowind and Cyrodill after the Oblivion crisis ended. With Lord Vivecs absence came tragedy, the giant rock floating above the city of Vivec on the province of Vvardenfell in Morrowind fell onto the land with the same force as if it had just entered the atmosphere, causing the volcano in red mountain to erupt completely leveling Vvardenfell. So all the countless hours us fans have spent in Vvardenfell are now in vein, because the land is…

You never know who you’ll meet on the internet. Maybe it’s the Craigslist killer, or maybe it’s the author of a book you need to read for your summer school assignment. For Yahoo! user ♥ Idiot America ~ ϟƘƦІןן∑x ♥, the latter held true. He (lazily) took to Yahoo! Answers to have someone else review his summer reading book for him, The Boy Who Couldn’t Sleep And Never Had To by DC Pierson. Surprisingly enough, Pierson himself responded to the post. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215 Wow. This woman rips the book apart in quite a hilarious fashion, animated GIFs included. I love this line. "Christian's supposed sexual prowess makes a bit more sense now, as does Ana's assertion that he has a giant bologna wand. She has absolutely zero experience, and she's never once had anything "in there". Thing could be the size of a baby carrot and she'd still be like, "Oh, my glob! How is it ever going to fit?!"

This is the beginning for a short novel I'm hoping to write. It's been plauging me in my sleep so I finally sat down tongiht and started to put to words waht my dreams have been playing out in my head. I plan on posting bits and pieces of it here for you all to read/comment/etc and hopefully if all goes well, I can maybe get a publish out of the final product. Obv, this is a rough draft ( I wrote it last night, and it's 7 am now) Chapter 1 Celebrations Realm Of Souls. Harvest Moon “Celebrate love. It is the breath of your existence and the best of all reasons for living.” -???? Daylight flirted with the oncoming night. The tendrils of light intertwining with the dar…

http://www.amazon.com/Conquered-Clippy-Erotic-Digital-Desires-ebook/dp/B00UJ01WBW/ Yes, someone seriously wrote an erotic fan-fiction digital novella..... about a paperclip. Christie Aackerlund doesn't need help with anything. So when the world's biggest technology company offers to fly her to a remote location and investigate an alien artifact, all by herself, she's all like "I'll do it! But the artifact isn't what it seems, and soon an overly helpful giant living paperclip is getting her all bent out of shape. I'm afraid, very afraid, but I can't wait to check out the user reviews of this in a few weeks once word starts getting around the internet.

Well, I finally got word that after much deliberation my short story Daemon didn't make the final cut. (huge sad face)... o well. As promised back in August, i am now posting it here for reading pleasure and if you feel like commenting or offering criticism, please DO. I can't grow as a writer without knowing what i might be doing wrong. Now, i will try to get this all nice and neat, but remember it was originally posted in double spacing in a word document so it might have a few glitches. And now, without further ado, I give you ... This is a short story i wrote last year, i recently re-wrote it in 3rd person for a new contest. Let me know what you think, i know this type of viewpoint is usually reserved for comics, but i felt like it might work here too. Daemon by LGWyant Fall has truly come to Carlton Park as the cool November breeze sends leaves flittering around the browning grass. Oak and Elm trees that once were proud stood leafless, like penitent worshippers raising their hands to the sky praying for help. The Pines and Cedars contrastingly seemed to have a heavy coat of needles. They stood over the pathetically bare limbed deciduous like predators grinning at the thought of an easy m…

Keeping up with the Scifi slant of our Literary thread, i have a book series to recommend. I just started to read the Entire and the Rose series from Kay Kenyon, and I must say she's the best breakout novel artist I've read since Terry Goodkind came on the stage with the Sword of Truth books. Kay Kenyon's first book in the series is Bright of the Sky..... consequently you can get it for free right now from Amazon as a Kindle Book download, which makes checking out this talented author a no-brainer. P.S. why is it that whether they're male or female they're still called Authors?

So it seems the final book in the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr) is going to be released on November 8th. I have it preordered and am excited to read it. I started rereading the first three books yesterday and got 66 pages into Eragon already lol (and I haven't read any yet today, since I'm setting my computer back up after my parts got back today). I'm rereading because it's been a while since I've read them, and I want to remember the specifics since Inheritance will be the final book. Anyone else read the series or getting the new one?

Charlie Frazier sat hunched over in his little cubicle. He sat with his legs drawn up to his chest which gave him about two inches grace from the width of his shoulders. With his back to the wall behind him, Charlie could just reach out to the wall in front and place his palm on the surface. The steel-like material should be cold to the touch, yet it seemed to emit warmth as if to say this is a metal your planet has never encountered. Which only made sense, as Charlie knew he was no longer on the planet of his birth. It’s a strange feeling knowing you’ve been taken and may never see your home again. Charlie had cried with fear and despair…

Long ago, in the magical land of Skyrim. There was a man who embarked on an incredible journey, a journey that made him legend. This man, well, his name was Spaghetti. He was a Dark Elf, Dunmer if you will, with a very strange look about him. He was average height, slender, and everything else seemed normal about him, except for his face. When I first encountered this man, Spaghetti, at the Winking Skeever, I swear to Akatosh I thought that n'wah was going to snap my arm right off my shoulder, and use the bones to smoke his steamed "skooma" or whatever the kids are calling it now-a-days. Anyway, so Spaghetti sat down next to me and ordered a drink. I could see him lookin…
