Yea. Like the title says, I'm feeling on top of the world right now. All this week has been leadership tryouts for band. And today was drum major tryouts. And what do you know. I'm a drum major! I've never felt this happy before.

The Tsar Bomba. During the Cold War, American and Soviet military leaders temporarily forgot why nuclear bombing yourself was a bad idea. The "nuclear weapons tests" conducted on home soil were officially for research purposes. In reality, each explosion was the military equivalent of punching your fist into your open hand and pointing at the guy whose *** is totally grass. Anyone close enough to wonder why it was suddenly so windy and blinding were told the explosions were being set off at a safe distance. For instance, Area 51, the army base in the middle of the Nevada desert (where conspiracy theorists believe the Army is reverse-engineering UFOs), was actually one of …

In the ER I work in we screen almost everyone for HIV/AIDS. We have to because it's so common in the area. Anyhow, I was blow drying my hair (which of course for whatever reason led me to think about HIV/AIDS) and while Medicine is still making a ton of progress on the disease it still exists, it's still deadly and the only prevention is safe sex. Getting everyone to have safe sex is about as probable as living on the moon. \So I was thinking, one of the biggest problems with HIV is that a lot of peopel who have it, don't know it, and could be passing it around to unknowing sex partners. A lot of places offer free HIV testing but honestly, if you had no reason to suspec…

This sounds like incredible fun, especially if alcohol is involved. The long version: (worth the read) The short version: Werewolf“Werewolf is a simple game for a large group of people (seven or more.) It requires no equipment besides some bits of paper; you can play it just sitting in a circle. I’d call it a party game, except that it’s a game of accusations, lying, bluffing, second-guessing, assassination, and mob hysteria.” – Andrew Plotkin

Sorry for my absence around here the past week. I broke my tailbone in a rather blonde manner and have not been able to sit down for about a week...well comfortably anyway. I had some PM's while I was gone and I haven't been ignoring you, just trying to get my rear end feeling better, lol. Yes I am butt hurt, laugh it up.

So, last night after playing Bioshock for a while I checked my emails. I received a UPS shipping notification from Microsoft. I have not ordered anything from them to be expecting a package from them. I immediately thought it was spam (Although not in my spam folder) and/or a trojan/virus link. I dared not click it on my wife's laptop, so I jumped on the iPad to check out the email header and what not. Everything seems legit in the header. IPs belong to Microsoft, as do all the domains, etc. Copied and pasted the tracking number from the link and went to the UPS site directly...Sure enough, it's a real package. Weighs in at 0.10 lbs. and is expected to be here 4/9. I wen…

  12. ...after reading the reviews on a few places I found out that the PS3 versions has MORE content!? WTF? Seriously? That really upsets me that they do crap like this, especially because the PS3 version is apparently noticeably not as good looking as the PC/360 versions. This is just a blip from Destructoid: The PlayStation 3 Advantage While for this review I played the game to its completion on the PlayStation 3, I spent some time with both the Xbox 360 and PC versions for comparison. It needs to be said upfront that the PS3 version of Mafia II is the least visually impressive of the bunch, missing a number of subtle game effects that were pulled from the game, reported…

It seems the Empire has fallen on hard times. Presumably to get finishing funds for his latest Death Star, Darth Vader—or a man pretending to be Darth Vader?—was reduced to robbing a bank on Long Island this morning. Impotent Rebel Alliance security forces tell Newsday (paywall) that Vader marched into a Chase bank in Setauket around 11:30 a.m. today. Brandishing a completely unnecessary handgun—as he had the power to choke the oxygen out every teller's throat—the fallen Jedi demanded cash. It's unclear whether he also found their lack of faith disturbing, but one Rebel policeman says, "The teller complied with the robber's demands and gave him money from the drawer. Be…

  17. Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop. It has a catchy ring to it I guess. Apparently this dude thinks so also. Ladies, meet Mr. Zopittybop-Bop-Bop. He's single, lists his favorite activities on Facebook as "standing", "walking", "thinking" and "diamond". He was recently arrested this past Thursday for a list of charges, none of which include a ridiculous sounding name. And yes, that's legally his real name as of October of last year.

It's mardi gras weekend and I've managed to go to one parade so far. (It rained all day Saturday so I didn't go out, but I do plan on doing things tomorrow) The pics aren't the greatest quality, and I didn't get many as my phone died. The parade these first pics are from is The Krewe Of Centurions, Excalibur.

  22. Ok trying not going to drag my story out but the simple version is: My granddaddy was put in the hospital yesterday after going to the doctor at about noon. He got to the hospital at 5 pm and was finally put in a room at 6 pm. The doctors didn't start running tests until 11 pm (he had an ultrasound), then he had some blood tests done at around 1. Surgeons came in at 2 am to talk to him and my Mama, they wanted to run a CT scan and said it would be scheduled for 10 am. Well someone (i.e. multiple people) dropped the ball and he didn't end up going for his CT scan until 6:15 pm only after my Mama and Aunt kept making a fuss to the nurses on the floor. They wouldn't …

We dropped Comcast awhile ago and I didn't think we'd regret it this bad....BUT we switched to Century Link which is the only other high speed internet people that come out here in this area and this is what we get and we sure as hell aren't getting what we pay for. At least w/ Comcast we got 25mbps. This is like turtle poo speed.
