2. In Nintendo’s world there are two different types of indie developers. The “Garage” developer who has an idea, but little to no experience that apparently according to this little quote are only envisioning themselves of a developer and are not passionate about their “craft” and then there is the full on “Indie” developer who has a lot of experience and worked with bigger developers and publishers and that is who Nintendo wants to work with. No surprise there Fils-Aime. “We’ve been clear that we want to work with independent developers who understand this business, who have experience in this business. These are people who spent time working with larger publishers and la…

  3. Russian scientists discovered a fully-grown female mammoth with blood and well-preserved muscle tissue trapped in ice in Siberia. The findings come amid debates on whether the extinct species should be resurrected using DNA. Scientists say they have managed to find mammoth blood during the excavation of a grown female animal on the Lyakhovsky Islands, the southernmost group of the New Siberian Islands in the Arctic seas of northeastern Russia. The dark blood was found in ice cavities below the belly of the animal. When researchers broke the cavities with a poll pick, the blood came flowing out. The fact surprised them because the temperature was 10C below zero. "It ca…

  8.

Analyst Michael Pachter says that, “I’m certain to my core,” when it comes to whether or not Activision will start charging gamers to play Call of Duty online when it comes to the newly announced project that is being taken on Beachhead.

According to G4TV, Pachter said that Project Beachhead will be charging for the mulitplayer and that there might also be charges for weapons or $1.00 each or a monthly subscription to access all of them.

If this turns out to be true, it will interesting to see which console’s sales will go up and if fans will revolt or will fall in line and pay to play.
<br&gt…

Not really entering this contest so to speak, since I know I've been in and out of here so much lately that you're all probably tired of me. Anyways, just wanted to say hi to you all. Crap's been rough lately, with my job, family, and friends. I could create a 9-pararaph post to explain it all but I'll spare you that lol. Just wanted to say hi and although I don't participate as much as I lurk, I still consider you guys part of my family. Hope you're all doing well.

  15. EA is no stranger to controversy. Their push of making gamers pay for every little thing that they have to offer is just one example of the type of controversy that EA has been dealing with, but what about the heated controversy surrounding the upcoming Medal of Honor’s playable Taliban characters? Is EA in the wrong with this one especially when they almost lost support from the US Army? View the full article

  16. It recently came to my attention that Sony recently shut down Psygnosis studios (which was currently known as Sony Liverpool). This REALLY gives me a huge case of teh sads. So many games from my past (many of which a bunch of you young-ins have probably never even heard of) came out of this place. They had been making games for almost thirty years now. They were also responsible for creating one of the HARDEST games I've ever played. Shadow of the Beast. More specifically the NA Genesis version. (due to some sort of issues with the normal refresh rates of televisions between Europe and NA, the NA version ran almost 17% FASTER than normal. Combine that with NO cont…

Wasn't sure where this topic might fit best so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to notify Gamercide crew of awesome gaming deals going on that they may not be aware of via Steam, Humble Bundle, GoG.com, etc etc. I got this idea today when I was looking through the Steam Sales and saw Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition on sale for $7.49 (originally $29.99). This pack includes: Dragon Age: Origins ($19.99)Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Expansion Pack ($19.99)All Nine Content Packs (Prices Vary) That's at least a $40 value for $7.49 and a very awesome game definitely worth a look. The only thing making me…

  22. When the trailer for the newest Elder Scrolls V was shown at the Spike Video Game Awards last Saturday there excitement, squealing, and then confusion amongst fans of the series who have waited years to hear anything regarding a new Elder Scrolls game. The confusion came from a tweet from Bethesda later that night in which Bethesda said, “Seeing lots of speculation about #tesv game engine. It’s brand new… and it’s spectacular!”. Well consider yourself confused no more, because Bethesda’s Community Manager, Nick Breckon has sorted the issue out. According to Breckon, Skyrim will feature a completely “brand new, internally created, gameplay and graphics engine”. The Elder…

  24. Scientists believe it may be possible to clone a woolly mammoth within five years after finding well-preserved bone marrow in a thigh bone recovered from permafrost soil in Siberia. Teams from Russia's Sakha Republic's mammoth museum and Japan's Kinki University will launch fully-fledged joint research next year aiming to recreate the giant mammal, Japan's Kyodo News reported from Yakutsk, Russia. By replacing the nuclei of egg cells from an elephant with those taken from the mammoth's marrow cells, embryos with mammoth DNA can be produced, Kyodo said, citing the researchers. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2069541/Woolly-mammoth-brought-life-cloned-bone-ma…
