December 15, 201015 yr comment_25545 When the trailer for the newest Elder Scrolls V was shown at the Spike Video Game Awards last Saturday there excitement, squealing, and then confusion amongst fans of the series who have waited years to hear anything regarding a new Elder Scrolls game. The confusion came from a tweet from Bethesda later that night in which Bethesda said, “Seeing lots of speculation about #tesv game engine. It’s brand new… and it’s spectacular!”. Well consider yourself confused no more, because Bethesda’s Community Manager, Nick Breckon has sorted the issue out. According to Breckon, Skyrim will feature a completely “brand new, internally created, gameplay and graphics engine”.The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to a PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 near you on November 11, 2011.via GameSpyView the full article Report
December 15, 201015 yr comment_25547 It'll still probably be Gamebryo based. I'll reserve judgement until we hear official stuff and actually get to look at it/play it. Report
December 15, 201015 yr comment_25549 I'm still kind of weary on what they consider "new", IE, newer version of the current engine that is "all new" because this is the first game it's used in, stuff like that. Report
December 15, 201015 yr comment_25553 Makes sense, I have the LE copy of Oblivion and they say specifically that for every ES game they've started from scratch so a new engine would only support that. Report
December 15, 201015 yr comment_25569 You know what's effed up too? Some of those games on that list were actually pretty damn good, examples being Divinity II: Ego Draconis, Civ IV and Pirates. An even better example? Warhammer Online. That MMO is awesome and graphically sound and stable. Why do games like Elder Scrolls and Fallout get FUBARd so much? Report
December 16, 201015 yr comment_25573 Sweet. Guess the other topic is a moot point. I'm glad it's an internally developed engine. I have high hopes. Report
