For the serious or semi-serious. Just don't go off the beaten path.

 1. Nolan Bushnell, the creator of Atari, recently came back to his old home. Today, he joins Atari's executive board. When Atari was on top of its game and making risky, borderline decisions... it was Bushnell behind it. He is the mad genius. Back in the early 70's, his warehouse would be visited by investors and the like. The one thing they all agreed upon, was that the place was scary. It smelled of marijuana, and the assembly line crew all had long, stringy hair. One executive, even found a few syringes on the bathroom floor. Why though? Because Bushnell would take any order, no matter how big. That often meant he had to hire people off of the streets. When Atari went so…

 2. A 36-year-old man who had tracheal cancer has received a new lab-made windpipe seeded with his own stem cells in a procedure in Sweden they call the first successful attempt of its kind, officials said Thursday. The Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm said the surgery was performed June 9, and that the patient is on his way to a "full recovery." He will be released from a hospital Friday. Dr. Paolo Macchiarini says the first synthetic tissue engineered windpipe that has been successfully transplanted. 4. As gamers, we are always anxious and eager to hear news regarding new technology in the world of video gaming. THQ on the other hand is not. In an interview with Eurogamer, THQ’s Danny Bilson said that new consoles “would be horrible”. “It would be horrible, But I think they all know our model’s broken anyway. “It still costs us a fortune to make games on this platform. If they’re going to up the scale, up the art, up the content, I don’t know how to make that and sell it to anybody for under $100 a game. Who wants to do that? It’s bad for everybody.” We can’t really argue that point. Who really wants to pay over $100 for a standard version of a video game in store a…

 5.

It appears that the story of the characters from Final Fantasy XIII may not be over. Spotted by superannuation was the registration of domain name for a new website that is being called at the moment, “whois.domaintools.com/finalfantasy13-2game.com“. The domain name was registered on January 11 under the alias “Coporation Service Company” which Square Enix has used in the past for websites for other Square Enix titles. Final Fantasy X, the story of Tidus and Yuna was the last Final Fantasy game to get a direct sequel and many fans were hoping that it would remain that way considering that FFX-2 was almost a complete disaster. Here’s to hoping that …

 12. “Unfortunately, the circumstances didn’t allow us to make a 360 exclusive,” stated Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon in a statement to Eurogamer regarding the question that left many wondering why the Xbox 360 did not get an exclusive character like the Playstation 3 version did with one of Sony’s most recognizable characters, Kratos from the God of War series. With the tight lippedness that is going on around NetherRealm Studios many are speculating that NetherRealm wanted to include Master Chief or Marcus Fenix however their contract with Sony regarding the exclusive Kratos has some underlying terms about what the term “exclusive” meant or that Microsoft wants to add an ico…

 15. Here is the last major speech that I did for my speech class, on Wednesday. The topic is Peace Through Violence, how learning violent martial arts like Shou Shu can bring you greater discipline in your behavior. I got a bit nervous in the beginning and had a couple brief pauses to catch my thoughts, but considering that I had memorized the entire speech to perform without my notes (again; despite the teacher's urging that we do the speech extemporaneously from notes), I think I did quite well. Also, here is another demonstration of the aggressive vs. joint lock variation of a technique that I show in the speech:

 17. http://gamepolitics.com/2012/04/12/gog-steams-discounting-practices-hurt-gamers-devalue-games This interview kind of pisses me off. I've been fed up on paying full retail on games for a long time. I recently sold 123 games on craigslist for $600. Most of which were bought brand new at $60. Sure, I could have sold each individually, but by the time I was done, I would have gotten maybe a few hundred more and wasted way too much time with shipping and meeting people on craigslist. Not only that, only the good would sell first, leaving me stuck with the crappy ones that no one wants. So yeah, I know the value of my games very well. Less than 10% of what I originally paid for…

 19. Did anyone else read the story about the former Marine turned waitress who claimed "discrimination" by a couple she was serving due to her "lifestyle"? Here is a link to one of the original stories. Dayna Morales, pictured just above, claimed that she was not only treated harshly by customers of hers and subjected to ridicule (being called "Dan" for example) but also that upon her customers leaving she suddenly discovered they had left a note that they could not tip her because she was gay. A line was crossed through the tip box with the note, "Sorry, I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and the way you live your life." Dayna proceeded to u…

 22. It was August 6, 1991, at a CERN facility in the Swiss Alps, when 36-year-old physicist Tim Berners-Lee published the first-ever website. It was, not surprisingly, a pretty basic one — according to CERN: Info.cern.ch was the address of the world’s first-ever web site and web server, running on a NeXT computer at CERN. The first web page address was http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html, which centred on information regarding the WWW project. Visitors could learn more about hypertext, technical details for creating their own webpage, and even an explanation on how to search the Web for information. There are no screenshots of this original page and, in any …
