One of the main competitors in the fighting game market, Dead or Alive, will be adding another sequel to its roster, Dead or Alive 5. The announcement of Modern Warfare 3 made many Call of Duty fans rejoice, but that happiness went away when it was followed by the little fact that Modern Warfare 3 is being handled by two different developers instead of being directly developed by Infinity Ward. Infinity Ward is providing assistance on some level and now rumors are flying that there is a big reveal on the way. No exact details have been released regarding the big reveal rumor other than a huge number 3 in green appearing on the Playstation UK Magazine that says, "The biggest game in the world returns". Rumors are also on the rise that Infinity Ward will be making a Call of Duty game in the future and it will most likely be a prequel starring Ghost, the masked operative from Modern Warfare 2 once the legal battle ends between Activision and former Infinity Ward employees. Modern Warfare 3 has no confirmed release date, however the wiki for the game states that Activision is trying to make a fall 2011 release. In the upcoming Battlefield 3, there will be nine multiplayer maps. These maps are the ones 'that combined bring out everything we want both veteran and new Battlefield players to experience in Battlefield 3 multiplayer' says DICE's David McDonagh. So here is the list and names of the maps you can expect to run, duck, and drive in on Oct. 25th. Caspian Border This map is one of the few that is 'lush and green' and is supposed to be an obvious choice for players who want to play with vehicles. This is a large map where base distances are usually too long to cover just on foot, so vehicles will play a major part in this map. Damavand Peak This map takes place on a mountain ridge above a mining facility, and features the most extreme height differences ever in a Battlefield map. Because of the extreme change in terrain as you progress in the map, vehicles will come in handy on this map as well. Grand Bazaar A close quarter map where you can get up close and personal with your foes, this map is set in the urban center of Tehran. Kharg Island Set in the Persian sea, you will be able to use boat gameplay to help beat your foes in this map. Noshahar Canals This is an industrial harbor, and the canals will have a mix of infantry, land vehicle, and boat gameplay. It is a smaller map than most of the others with vehicle gameplay, so there will be some tight combat moments for sure on this map. Operation Firestorm This is one of the largest maps in the game, and it will offer many possibilities for infantry to hide and spot vehicles, and then take them out with an RPG or mortar strike. Operation Metro This is a map everyone who played the beta will be familiar with. It has constantly changing areas that keep you on your toes and is good for those that can adapt to new classes and loadouts quickly. Seine Crossing This map features and bank building, and has one of the largest indoor environments in the game. It will allow infantry to sneak through tight alleyways and staircases to surprise the opposing team. Tehran Highway This map is a nighttime map. EA and DICE have announced that new downloadable content is on the way for Battlefield 3. First DLC that will be available in June is Close Quarters which includes, you guessed it "CQ" style multiplayer maps, weapons, dogtags and new assignments. Months after that gamers will see Armored Kill which happens to be DICE's hugest multiplayer map ever for a Battlefield game. New vehicles will also be introduced. The fiscal year ending in March 2011 has proven to be a bloodbath for Nintendo as their loss of earnings has been reported. Nintendo's shares dropped 66% and according to Joystiq, this marks the third year for profit declines which is not what Nintendo previously predicted. Also reported from Nintendo's camp is that the previously rumored "Wii Successor" will be at E3 in the form of a playable model. According to IGN, Nintendo will be revealing a new console that is higher powered than the Xbox 360 and PS3 at this year's E3. Game Informer is also claiming the same thing by citing mulitple sources and that the new console will be able to run games at HD resolutions. The new console is expected to get a 2012 launch and Nintendo is supposedly hoping that they can bring back third-party developers and "hardcore" fans. Click here to view the article

One of the most successful casual gaming companies in the industry is bringing a new slightly edgy studio into the mix. PopCap Games announced that their new studio "4th & Battery" will be situated in Seattle and that the name comes from where the studio is located. Jason Kapalka, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at PopCap Games says to "expect weirdness" from the new label that gives their designers free range. "4th & Battery is a purely experimental, creative label with none of the typical concerns like schedules, profitability, or even target audience. It’s kind of the video game equivalent of B-sides or short films. Expect weirdness." The studio has already announced their first game, Unpleasant Horse. Retailer GAME Australia has revealed the new DLC map "Escalation" coming to Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops before Activision had the chance to announce details about it. News about the new under developement title exclusively for the Kinect, Rise of Nightmares has been rather quiet since Sega announced the horror game at the Tokyo Game Show in 2010. Sega can now thank the ESRB for not only letting the plot out of the bag, but also doing so in the "breast" describing way possible. According to the ESRB description of the game, Rise of Nightmare will can contain: "This is a horror-adventure game in which players assume the role of an American tourist who must rescue his wife from a deranged scientist. From a first-person perspective, players use brass knuckles, knives, hatchets, and chainsaws to kill zombie-like creatures and disfigured monsters inside a mansion environment. Combat is highlighted by exaggerated sprays of blood, and damage often results in dismemberment or decapitation—stray body parts sometimes litter the ground. Some sequences and cutscenes depict more intense acts of violence: a man screams loudly as spikes impale his body; a restrained character's hand is chopped off before he is killed; a character (cut in half) crawls away in a pool of blood; a soldier is ripped apart by a monster, causing blood to stain the screen. During the course of the game, some female creatures are depicted in revealing outfits (e.g., 'pasties' that partially cover their breasts); in one sequence, a woman sits on the central character's chest and engages in suggestive dialogue (e.g., 'Oh, how I've thought of this—night after night. How I've missed these lips.'). Dialogue also includes phrases such as 'Best sex of my life.'/'Worst sex of my life,' 'f**k,' and 'sh*t.'" and yes, those asterisks are in the ESRB explanation. From now until May 10, Microsoft will be accepting submissions for the Kodu Cup 2011 that uses Microsoft Kodu Game Lab technology for the PC and allows younger gamers to develop a game fron the ground up and according to Lili Cheng, the General Manager of Microsoft's Future Social Experiences Labs will help promote creativity and self confidence. "Our research has shown that Kodu Game Lab appeals equally to girls and boys and helps promote creativity, self-confidence, critical thinking and technology skills. Kids don't feel like they're programming so much as playing, even though they're creating sophisticated worlds, characters and storylines." The competition is open to younger gamers that are between the ages of 9-17 who will then be placed into one of the two age appropriate categories, 9-12 and 13-17. Major Nelson announed today that Xbox Live is looking for help from Xbox Live users for network testing in order to improve service. In the Community Channel on the dashboard you will find a new "Xbox Live Labs" tab. You can sign up for the volunter testing from there and with each test you complete, you will receive three different avatar awards that include a lab coat, crazy lab hair, and a brain helmet. You will also hear everybody's favorite "blip" giving you three zero point achievements showing that you completed the testing and have helped out Xbox Live. While running the network test from your console to Xbox Live you will not be able to play games, watch movies, and download items. Your internet connection might also be slower during the test. The Xbox Live Lab testing will last from March 10 - 27 and is only available to users in the US for now. EA announced yesterday that they are planning on releasing a new multiplayer mode for their successful hit Medal of Honor. The mode, "Clean Sweep" will have gamers relying on their skill and their teammate's skill in this elimination style gameplay.
