  1. For all of the Gears heads out in there, be prepared to dig deep into those pockets if you want an 33% off of all game add ons for one of the most highly anticipated releases slated come out this September, Gears of War 3. Epic Games announced that you will be able to purchase a "season pass" for the bloody awesome shooter that will "guarantee a 33 percent discount on the game add-ons". The newly announced "season pass" will cost you an extra $30. Fans of Gears better choose wisely, because the first round of DLC for Gears of War 3 will be releasing this November. via Joystiq Click here to view the article
  2. In an effort to prove that GameStop is sorry for their recent tampering with new PC copies of Deus Ex: HR, the gaming retail giant is offering a $50 gift card and a "Buy Two Get 1 Free" used game offer. Keep in mind gamers that this tear jerker offer requires you to spend money for a 1 free used game and the paltry gift card is not enough to buy a new game at the usual $59.99 asking price. via Ars Technica Click here to view the article

  6. Ding ding! Today's Fail of the Day is being brought to you by a war of words between two video game titans, Sony and Microsoft. Last week, Sony's Sony's Senior VP of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer went on the defensive by taking a shot at Microsoft's right to deny downloadable arcade games that appear on the Playstation Network first after Microsoft admitted that they are "biased". "We're a little biased, so obviously we're going to look to protect our own space..." ~European Xbox Boss, Chris Lewis in an interview to Eurogamer. " Whilst I can't be specific about the terms and conditions, you can be very confident we seek to maximise our own advantage to ensure the playing field is even, and certainly plays to our advantage wherever possible. As you can also imagine, our partners have to be mindful of the relationship they have with all platform holders, and they need to be equitable. But there are contractual situations where we get agreement with different people to do different things, and through what we have available on Xbox Live, we are able to offer things other people can't offer, that allows that exclusivity and unique elements to it that might not otherwise be available elsewhere." Sony fired back at their competitor, accused them of trying to "protect" an inferior and outdated technology. "I think what [Xbox Europe boss] Chris [Lewis] and the other representatives at Microsoft are doing is protecting an inferior technology. I think they want to dumb it down and keep it as pedestrian as possible so that if you want to do anything for Blu-ray, or you have extra content above 9GB, or you want to do anything of that nature, you'd better sure as heck remember that Microsoft can't handle that." ~ Sony's Senior VP of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer in an interview with IndustryGamers Dyer further ranted, "And that’s a huge problem with them. It first started on the smaller pubs, and we can talk about what’s happened on XBL and the policy they have there that requires publishers to have a whole litany of things in order to get onto their network or they have to go through and be published by Xbox, by Microsoft, which essentially lets them dictate how long they’ll be exclusive and whether or not they own the IP, etc, etc. They - for instance, if you want to be able to do something on XBL, you need to have an office, there’s all kinds of restrictions. We don’t do that. We don’t have any kind of policy like that. We’re not pushing that. In fact, we’ve gone the other way to try and encourage publishers through our Pub Fund... We want to welcome the indies and we've seen that become a very big part of our business because indies are recognizing that we aren’t demanding a pound of flesh in order for them to get a game published on our network." Sony taking advantage of Microsoft's strict content submission and release policy a surprise? No. Microsoft revealing that they are biased towards protecting exclusive content? No. Nintendo not making a peep about this ordeal? No. That is why all of these companies are receiving The Fail of the Day. Click here to view the article
  7. It appears that Xbox 360 owners will also be able to get their hands on the Devil May Cry HD Collection. While Capcom has yet to confirm anything, the ESRB appears to have beaten them to the punch. Ratings for the collection that includes Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3 have surfaced online and those ESRB ratings clearly include both the PS3 and 360. The collection has been rumored to be a PS3 exclusive since June after it was spotted on a Spanish shop list. via Eurogamer Click here to view the article

Before you start applying makeup and curling your hair, there is one more tiny piece of info. The cotton candy colored 3DS will only be available in Japan. 9. The previous 2011 release date for the upcoming Kinect enabled Project Draco apparently was just a tease. The Xbox Live Arcade game which is "inspired" by 1995's widely successful dragon rail shooter, Panzer Dragoon now has a new release date that has been listed by Joystiq as sometime in 2012. Project Draco is being developed by the Ground Inc. and will follow a human trying to train a dragon to aid them in combat. Sound a tab bit familiar? via Joystiq Click here to view the article

  11. Looks like Santa is going to be delivering a special gift to gamers who want to dump their expensive cable or satellite provider. Microsoft has announced during a financial meeting that their Xbox Live TV service is on track to launch this coming holiday season. According to CNN, Microsoft's demonstration of the tv service showcased voice and motion control technology through Kinect and a sleek interface where Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that gamers will be able to access their favorite channels, live tv shows, news, sports, videos on demand and more. Many financial analysists and executives from all across the board are reporting that Microsoft is in a unique place and have the opportunity to succeed where many others have failed. One thing that Microsoft failed to do throughout their meeting was mention a price, what their lineup will be, and who they have parterned with. That hasn't stopped rumors though. Some rumors have been circulating that Microsoft will allow cable and satellite providers to stream their tv schedules through Xbox Live TV so that gamers do not miss a single episode of their favorite show. via CNN and Eurogamer Click here to view the article
  12. Not sure how many of you will pop some excitement in your pants for this news, but Square Enix has announced that two somewhat dismal characters from Final Fantasy XIII will be making a return in the upcoming second part of the story, Final Fantasy XIII-2. Snow and Hope were shown briefly in a trailer at the Tokyo Game Show marking their return to your flat screen. Hope appears to have matured physically and Snow is barely recognizable when he reappears towards the end with Lightning's younger sister, Serah. http://youtu.be/vGXurqAKE0I Not sure about you, but I would take Fang and Vanille over those two clowns anyday. via G4TV and Click here to view the article
  13. Is Sony branching out from the Eye Toy and trying something Kinect like? According to a report on E-mpire, Sony is not just thinking about developing a new camera, they are already in the process of filing for a patent. The detailed description for the new infrared motion sensing device included drawing plans for motion controlled devices similar to the Wii. The devices included a pistol and bat like controller. 14. Gamers have succeded where scientists have failed. It's been over a decade since scientists have set out to break down a protein called protease that allows AIDS to multiply. Three weeks ago scientists reached out to the University of Washington's program "Foldit" which takes science figures and turns them into competitive games. It took the student gamers a little over three weeks to build models of the protease protein and scientists have hopes of being able to use their computer models to aid them in developing new HIV drugs. 15. The gorgeous and crisp upcoming FPS from EA and DICE, Battlefield 3 might be getting a beta very soon despite the fact that it's launch is about a month away. The eyes over at MP1st have picked up on three hints from DICE concerning a beta announcement at the beginning of this week. The first hint was found at the italian Battlefield website where DICE teased that fans should "follow" them, that there is a "long awaited" announcement coming tomorrow. That was then followed up by a tweet from Daniel Matros of DICE that stated, "this week is going to be off the hook BF3," and later on David Goldfarb agreed stating "gonna be a great week. BF3." http://youtu.be/8pNOxynC1Dc While a beta announcement would be exciting, because I have been waiting to get my hands on this since it was announced, however isn't it a little late in the game to release a beta when your game is scheduled to launch October 25th of this year? via MP1st Click here to view the article

  17. Real Steel staring Hugh Jackman might be getting attention for it's intense and almost futuristic robot fighting action, however a pair of good eyes spied an Xbox 720 logo in the back of the arena where the robot fights take place. Watch the video and you'll see towards the 46 second mark it appears quickly in the background. Could this be Microsoft beginning to advertise for a new console? 18. It appears that the much rumored Halo movie is back on the front burner of the rumor mill after a french press release claims that Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks are backing the film set to release in 2012. The press release which happens to be for the Forerunner based Halo novel, Halo: Cryptum clearly states, " A film adaptation is set in 2012. It will be conducted jointly by two heavyweights of American cinema: Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks." Does this mean that a Halo movie might release around the same time as Halo 4 in winter 2012? Or is this just simply another rumor that needs to be put to rest until Microsoft steps forward and says, "yes a Halo film is being produced at this very moment"? via Eurogamer Click here to view the article

  20. The Battlefield 3 beta has been live for a little over a week and gamers have already found ways to cheat in order to gain the upper hand in battle. DICE has come forward and is threatening to swing the mighty banhammer towards any gamers who are caught using any kind of cheats and/or glitches. "The hammer will fall swiftly and accurately," noted DICE's CM Ian Tornay on the Battlefield 3 forums. According to Gameranx , DICE has disabled cheating protection in multiplayer beta so that they can see and monitor what extremes players will go to just to anger other gamers and rack up those kill counts. So far during my playing of the beta I saw a few gamers glitching out of the map, so here is to hoping that DICE and EA can get this under control or else their hopes of beating Activision's Modern Warfare 3 in the sales department will be like throwing a dummy grenade into a group of enemies who are advancing swiftly on their position. via Gameranx Click here to view the article

  23. One of the most toughest and frustrating bundles of joy to grace your Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Dark Souls, has been beaten on a speedrun in an amazing one hour and 26 minutes. http://youtu.be/x9ymysN3qQ8 The tough as nails RPG was released less than a month ago and gamer SexyShoiko proved that despite the reputation that this game comes with, the difficulty was no match for their knowledge and skill set. You have been warned. via PSX Extreme Click here to view the article
  24. What's a developer to do when their third installment of their popular series, Resistance sells rather poorly in the United States? Go on the defensive of course. Insomniac Game's Resistance 3 was not as huge of a hit as they might have hoped here in the United States. The followup to 2008's hit Resistance 2, only managed to sell a meger 180,00 copies during it's first month release compared to Resistance 2 which sold 385,000. GamersMint who posted an article detailing their let down first month sales, compared Resistance 3's sales to Dead Island's first month sales which released on the same day. Dead Island happened to move over 2 million copies. So what did Insomniac have to say about Resistance 3's low sales. "Comparing Resistance 3′s sell-through number on one platform to Dead Island’s copies shipped number on 3 platforms isn’t really an Apples to Apples comparison." stated CM James Steveson. Okay I can see that. Let's compare Playstation's exclusive Resistance 3 to another popular shooter that just so happens to be an exclusive to the Xbox 360, Gears of War 3. Gears of War 3 moved 3 million copies. 'Nuff said, right? Nope, not according to Insomniac. Insomniac later responded to a twitter post by a fan who said they were sorry to hear of the sales numbers by saying "What bad news?" and followed another question up with "oh, no, the numbers are accurate, but that was still good enough for #7 on the US charts". Here's to hoping that Insomniac will have some better luck with Ratchet and Clank which is releasing this week and maybe learn some better marketing techniques to boost those sales of a supposed AAA shooter. http://youtu.be/bFWKWICUOXUvia Gamersmint Click here to view the article
  25. Last week the brillant minds at Ninja Bee which happen to be behind one of the Xbox Live Arcade's most addicting games A World of Keflings, announced that new alien-friendly downloadable content would be arriving soon. Details were a tad bit fuzzy at the time regarding a release date and price, however my fellow kefling addicts can calm down now because Ninja Bee has released the details. On October 25th , the It Came From Outer Space DLC will release on the Xbox Live Marketplace for a tiny lumpsum of 320 points. Not too shabby considering that the content will add anywhere between two to four hours of gameplay and increase the game's total content to 30%. It Came From Outer Space will also feature new buildings, characters, and of course a new kingdom for you to build up your little green alien, friendly town. Click here to view the article
