1. What’s the story behind your gamertag? It’s actually quite a complicated story. Bacon when I first got Xbox Live, I was bwler263, which is what most people here first knew me as. I soon outgrew that gamertag, and became CivilizedBacon. Yes, I do love bacon so I didn’t hesitate in making that my tag. AFter a while with that as my gamertag, I was tired of having it as something so long, so I changed my name to Sabaid, which means fight is Scottish Gaelic. I was bored of that, so I finally switched to Bacon v3 a few years back. It’s v3 because it’s my 3rd iteration of my newer gamertags, and I kept around my love of bacon. I told you it was complicated. 2. What game are …

Over the past few years games have become more and more dependent on real world situations, social commentary, and political correctness to drive their narratives along. The days of the simplistic story and overall fun gaming seem to be slowly coming to an end, with little resistance from us, the gamers. The se…

Do not call the upcoming Playstation 3 and Vita Final Fantasy X a “remake”, because Square’s Shinji Hashimoto will be the first to remind you that it is a “remaster”. During the Taipei Game Show the media asked Hashimoto if the popular love story of Tidus and Yuna was going to be a remake or remaster and Hashimoto quickly responded with “remaster” citing the HD overhaul and according to Joystiq, Hashimoto is claiming the HD “remaster” is prettier than the original that released in 2001 with cutscene graphics that would rival many games to this day. No release date has been given yet for the FFX remaster however as Andriasang points out, there was a mysterious Twitter mess…

Resident Evil 6, meet boobies. Boobies, meet Resident Evil 6. Capcom has made a questionable decision with putting full fledge frontal nudity minus genitalia in their new entry into the long running Resident Evil horror series with Resident Evil 6. The nakedness has been introduced in the form of a female spider boss who according to CVG will straddle your character and caress her breasts all while you hear the words fuck and shit being yelled in the background. Before you even ask, yes that is Ada in the video and yes you get to play as her in the campaign. Tweet This Post Post to Facebook View the full article

An update for Netflix on the Xbox 360 rolled out yesterday adding a new section that is “Just For Kids”. This new update is perfect for a family with small children who are looking for more family friendly oriented television shows and movies. The “Just For Kids” section not only seperates Netflix’s standard movie and television genres, but also allows the user to search by characters which can be found without having to type in the character’s name and is located on the main area of the new section. This feature makes it easy for young children who cannot read yet to shout out the names of their favorite characters that they want to watch. Case in point, my living roo…

What’s the story behind your gamertag My gamertag used to be AudaciousKevin from early 2007 onwards when I got my Xbox 360 and made an account. The suggestions all showed AdjectiveNoun so I made up a cool one with my name, emphasizing my carefree play style. I eventually got tired of having a fairly long name with an adjective in it and recently changed it to Kevnvek. I did a lot of Googling of variegations of my name to see what came up with the fewest results and eventually ended up on a cool rotatable pallindrome that’s basically my name forwards and backwards with one ‘n’ and no ‘i’s. What game are you currently playing? I just started playing Darksiders II last n…

What’s a developer to do when their third installment of their popular series, Resistance sells rather poorly in the United States? Go on the defensive of course. Insomniac Game’s Resistance 3 was not as huge of a hit as they might have hoped here in the United States. The followup to 2008′s hit Resistance 2, only managed to sell a meger 180,00 copies during it’s first month release compared to Resistance 2 which sold 385,000. GamersMint who posted an article detailing their let down first month sales, compared Resistance 3′s sales to Dead Island’s first month sales which released on the same day. Dead Island happened to move over 2 million copies. So what did Insomni…

Talk about embarassing. EA has announced that Battlefield 3 will have a day one update that gamers will be required to install in order to play the game and that all media reviews of the shooter be held off until a week after it’s release. EA has also added that Xbox 360 gamers will have to download the game to their hard drive in order to see the graphics at their best representation. What is EA’s reasoning behind the day one update? DICE are perfectionists of course! “DICE are perfectionists — they will not stop polishing the game until it is in your hands” claimed EA. Why yes, gamers across the board will accept that giberish especially after the horrible, cheat fi…

The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings Developed by: CD Projekt RED Published by: CD Projekt RED Platforms: PC (Coming Soon to XBOX 360 ) Players: 1 I’m currently in the process of playing The Witcher 2 with full intentions of writing a full review when I finish. However, the game is long, and I feel the need to write a few of my impressions now, instead of waiting to do it all at once. Let me start by saying the game is absolutely beautiful. I am nearing the end of Act I, and I still find myself just gazing at the landscape, characters, and creatures in awe. Everything is superbly crafted, and I cannot wait to see more. Word’s can’t do the game as much justice visuall…

Those of you who have yet to install Bethesda’s recent patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on your Xbox 360 might want to wait. Gamers have flocked to the Skyrim forums and are expressing their outrage after many have discovered their game is just about unplayable after installing the update. Patch 1.2 went live yesterday and since then gamers have been complaining of bugs, quests not advancing, dragons still flying backwards, spells not working, not being able to play saved games, and the list goes on. One gamer on the forums stated, “it was working fine for me before the 1.2 patch” and another titled their thread, “Thank you bethesda” where they expressed their than…

The tree is trimmed, the stockings have been hung by the fireplace, garland has been placed around doorways, and your neighbor’s yard is decorated with guady things that appear to have been made in the 80′s. All of this can only mean one thing, Gamercide’s Grim Reaper is on his way to share lots of toys and goodies for all of the naughty kids on his list this year! Let’s see what his picks are for the 2011 holiday season. Portal 2 Plush Turret With Sound This adorable 14.5 inch plush Portal turret speaks when an “enemy” walks by or if the turret is knocked over just like in the beloved Portal series. Today’s Fail of the Day is being brought to you by the parents who choose to be uneducated about video games and the associates at a Best Buy who are just plain stupid. Naturally with Christmas comes lists for Santa that are filled with video game requests from little gamers all across the country. It should come as no surprise that Modern Warfare 3 is topping those lists this year. For one news website based in Virginia this “violent” video game is causing some parents concern, because they and what a shocker here, know nothing about it. According to WHSV.com, the mature rating is causing parents to be cautious and they decided to ask the gamer know it alls at a local…

Perhaps one of the most interesting rumors surrounding the still rumored and not confirmed next Xbox is a recent rumor that the next console will not allow the useage of used games. This nasty little rumor began on Kotaku when they cited their sources that claimed that whenever the Xbox 720 is released, the console will automatically say a big fat no when the user puts a used game into the tray. Before the subscribers of Gamefly and lovers of used games at Gamestop get their panties into a bunch, the Xbox 720 itself hasn’t even been confirmed or mentioned by Microsoft, let alone this little rumor. So take a big deep breath and go back to playing. via IGN Tweet This Po…

Be sure to get your hands on the July issue of OXM. They are releasing some hot details thanks to 343 Industries on Halo 4 including an explanation of the “two” single player campaigns that mesh into not only co-op with your friends but also Master Chief’s story. 343 Industries explains the Infinity in Halo 4 as a way for your own “persistent Spartan IV” who is on board the UNSC Infinity to feed into the main storyline spawning a “second campaign”. How are they doing this you ask? After Halo 4 releases, 343 will be releasing four short CGI mini-episodes each week starring the four new Spartan IV’s. Your Spartan IV’s story can be played with your co-op friends online an…

Like a politician, Square Enix has flopped their opinion of a Final Fantasy VII remake and instead they are now stating that they a Final Fantasy VII remake will happen when another Final Fantasy title can exceed the quality of Final Fantasy VII. I personally can think of one Final Fantasy that has already done that a long ago, but that’s beside the point. This announcement comes one month after Square said that a Final Fantasy VII “is not a priority” and that “new titles take precedence” despite the fact that a Final Fantasy X HD remake was confirmed back in 2011′s Tokyo Game Show. I believe someone needs to cast Esuna on Square Enix because they are completely blind…

Speaking directly to Edge, Braid developer Jonathan Blow explained why his next indie game, The Witness, will be releasing on the Playstation 4 first as a timed exclusive and Microsoft you better be paying attention."I’ve had a bad time working with Microsoft in the past. Maybe not super bad, but a moderately bad time in terms of business relationships. Other developers who are friends of mine have had a horrible time, so the idea of signing up again with Microsoft isn’t something I’d have ruled out, but there’s a certain amount of dread I have about doing that again. I don’t have that with Sony. Who knows, maybe it’ll turn out to be just as bad at the end! But I don’t th…

While speaking directly to Eurogamer, Phil Harrison attempted to clear up some ugly rumors and conflicting reports that surfaced since Microsoft's reveal of Xbox One.One of those conflicting reports that Harrison was quick to dispel was the report that the Xbox One will require a constant connection to the internet. "Some bits of the system will work offline. I think the key point to make is that Xbox One requires an internet connection, but it does not need to be connected all the time..." Just to repeat that, THE XBOX ONE DOES NOT REQUIRE A CONSTANT INTERNET CONNECTION MMMKAY? Another rumor that Harrison attempted to clear up was used games and digital permissions. "So,…

Nvidia released the specs for Call of Duty: Ghosts on the PC and surprisingly the game is going to be massive, literally. If you are planning on picking up the next entry into Call of Duty series; Call of Duty: Ghosts plan on making space on your PC if you are lacking in storage space. Nvidia claims that it will take up 50 GB on your hard drive and you will also need 6 GB of RAM in order to play at minimum specifications. Eurogamer cites that a possible reason for the increased need for storage on the PC may be due to the textures in Call of Duty: Ghosts and that Nvidia has been pushing for a "flawless" 4K experience according to Nvidia's Andrew Burnes. "Of course, to p…
