April 5, 201214 yr comment_55805 In an attempt to try and please the angry Mass Effect fans who went bananas after seeing how Commander Shepard’s story ended, Bioware has announced that later this summer Mass Effect 3 will get Extended Cut DLC.The content will be for free and will contain extending endings and Bioware promises further clarity in regards to the end of Shepard’s story. Executive Producer Casey Hudson says, ”We have reprioritised our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalised for each player.”via Xbox 360 Achievements Tweet This Post Post to FacebookView the full article Report

April 6, 201214 yr comment_55865 I'll download it because it's free obviously. But, Bioware is in a damned if you do situation with their fans. There is absolutely no way they're going to appease everyone in this situation. I've seen so many people upset because from the description it's not a full fledge DLC with gameplay, but rather a simple clarification cutscene.Either way I couldn't care less. The ending didn't really have any impact on me. I loved the franchise and I just didn't have any real opinion on the ending, it was a meh moment for me. Report
April 6, 201214 yr comment_55867 Meh. I bet it changes nothing, but simply tells a little more about what's going on. Not needed. i dont know dat, when you end your game on a dream and require a lot of outside knowledge of the game to even comprehend what happened. they need to explain what happened at the end. you cant just say you win and call it a good story Report
April 8, 201214 yr comment_55915 I don't think it required a lot of outside information. I've been smacked down before for saying to use your imagination, but I'll say it again. It's really one of those things were you either liked it and got it or you didn't. As, Elite Effect said, damned if they do damned if they don't. ME3 itself was an ending. The entire game. I met old acquaintances and settled old scores as I went along. By the end I was left with a choice of how to leave the galaxy. It's not how I wanted to leave it as it meant my end, but when I made my choice I was left knowing that I did the best I could for the galaxy I loved. Afterwards, I consider myself lucky to have a premonition of things to come, considering I'm dead and my story ends with that death. Report
April 9, 201214 yr comment_55955 i can debate for this for a while so let me ask you this, because as of now (meaning none of the new stuff that has been leaked for the new ending) there are two possible endings. The first is everything you see happened (so shepard was indoctrinated) and in the end you chose what to do about the reapers. So you chose to control them, destroy them, or merged all the life forms. So you would think that each option would have its own significant meaning? But all the choices you made in the end mean nothing as all that changes is the color of your explosion. The cycle still ends and all the relays blow up. I dont see how that was much of a choice, in all three cases all the tech blows up, stranding all the fleets in the process. I think that the only thing that is different between the options you choose is who walks off the ship at the very end when joker is flying away.now option 2 is the indoctrination theory. so you get shot at by the reaper and pass out. (or i have seen some that suggest that everything up until you enter the top of the citadel with the catalyst is real, but in either case your now in a head game with the reapers) You get offered three choices that you can choose from, in this version 2 options seem like the good way to choose since you (shepard) believe its all real still. or you pick the red option that says blow it all up and let chaos run a muck through the galaxy. If you pick the "peaceful" options shepard is then fully indoctrinated and you lose. Or you pick the thrid option to blow them up and you broke free from their grasp on your mind. Now this is the one that requires some outside information, because after hearing about this theory i learned things that reapers make that horn noise when they fail at taking control and thats why you hear that in the beginning, yet i do not recall ever hearing that in the game. as well as something about a mass relay blowing up before and when it did it took out that entire sector of space, again i dont recall that part being mentioned along the way. But it is possible that i may have missed it some how or just dont recall it because it was mentioned ages ago in the game. That aside, lets assume you break the reaper control and pick the red. Well what happens then? Nothing, or atleast not for you. You dont know what exactly happened when the crucible went off, or (depending on when you think the mental games started) what really happened when you got on the citadel to open the arms, Nope, instead you pick red and get told you won. Thats just not a good way to end a game in my books. I could understand a cinematic after you broke free maybe and you watched shepard do it (although playing through one final assault on the top would be fun), but you just dont say good job you won.while i had a few flaws with the game as i played through it i genuinely loved the game. But I cant over look and ending like this, it just felt lazily donesorry for the wall of text, didnt seem that long at first Edited April 9, 201214 yr by StealthyShadows Report
April 9, 201214 yr comment_55956 It's still not liking the choices given. The video was a stock video, but the choices you made were wildly different. The kid/AI explains the different choices, not the video. Report
April 9, 201214 yr comment_55959 the kids gievs a brief explination of the choices yes, but they arent different at all. or maybe im missing something about them, and if thats the case id love to hear what made them all so different Report
April 9, 201214 yr comment_55972 I believe we will disagree regardless, but I'll write up the differences as I saw them when I get home. They all reflect the same goal, and though it doesn't show it the differences are substantial to me. There is one that leaves a lot to be wondered, but for the most part I get the idea. Report
April 10, 201214 yr comment_55994 The quick summary of the end options as I took them:Spoiler tags even though everyone probably knows the end already. You can merge human and synthetic DNA/molecules/whatever. This is the next step in evolution. The process destroys the relays, but it sends waves out through the galaxy and starts the cycle anew. This time however you can hope and assume that there will be no AI rise up to destroy life. Fairly huge implications as to where this would go. It can be assumed that with the reapers purpose gone they would help rebuild the relays and life could quickly be back to where it was minus all the synthetic wars etc. You can destroy the reapers. This will also destroy almost all modern technology and AI. So, this leaves the galaxy stranded in their respective systems and basically resets the cycle clock without any real progress being made. Through time the synthetics will be made again and rebel once more. Possibly repeating itself and creating new reapers or possible with synthetics destroying all biological life. It's the choice I would never have made since it would left life as it was known completely in shambles. A quick throw back into a dark age with nothing but a doomed future to look forward to.You can take control of the reapers. This is the choice I have the hardest time understanding. You obviously force them back into the dark reaches of space, but who knows. Maybe with the knowledge and power you simply are able to see what the AI kid saw and it's overwhelming. So you revert back into this cycle of kill biologic races etc . Or maybe you use the reapers to be the harbinger of doom in the galaxy and rule all with an iron fist. Possibly, you use them to rebuild the relays and things go back to the way they were except you share the knowledge. This path truly had a lot of open endings because you can only decide what you would do with that power. Or, it could be possible that you did it and had just enough control to drive them away before the power of it all overwhelmed the station and you and everything went to hell. Pretty much a million ways to look at this one.All in all I felt the idea behind the choices were explained, and that they were different. I do feel however that it was largely left up to you to decide what went on afterwards. Didn't need the game to tell me. Report
April 10, 201214 yr comment_56009 Well dat you were right, i still disagree with you. however unlike most people i have talked to about it you were able to defend your point. so i guess ill continue to see it my way and you will continue to see yours Report
April 10, 201214 yr comment_56018 The healthy way to have a discussion. I have to admit I am curious to know what the DLC brings. Report
