EA has aquired one of the most successful social and causal gaming companies in the video game industry, PopCap Games. Announced late in the day on July 12, EA paid around $650 million in cash for the company and gave $100 million in shares to certain PopCap shareholders. The aquisition is expected to close at the end of August. No news on what EA’s plans are for PopCap who is responsible for such hits as Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled, and Bookworm. 2010′s GoldenEye 007 that came out on the Nintendo Wii will be getting a HD remake for the the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Activision made the announcement after several ongoing rumors were spreading that the company would announce the game at this year’s Comic Con. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is being built with a new game engine to deliver better graphics and better game play than the Wii version. Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Nintendo is no longer making a profit off of the handheld 3DS and as a result him and other top Nintendo Executive were given a pay cut to the tune of half their current salary.
