Not everyone can be a hero. This phrase, and ones similar to it, have been spoken throughout generations. Teachers, parents, leaders, they have all said it, and everyone has heard it. Not once or twice but a hundred thousand times. If everyone had a super power then what would the world even be? Just a bunch of beefed up super dudes bro fisting each other so hard that they collapse a nearby building. I get it, not everybody is special, but that doesn’t stop us from dreaming. Nobody knows how the heroes came to be, there are the rumors and tinfoil hat theories. Most people? They just don’t care. They go about their normal lives, with some minor hero inconveniences. D…

As the title implies, this is something that I wanted to share. I had a creative paper project that was due for my Arts and Humanities course on Sunday. I was supposed to come up with a monument that I would have erected in my honor and describe why, who I am, and include what I learned from the course this semester. This was a unique project for me, because this is also child abuse awareness month. I found this in a way therapeutic that I could tie my childhood past into this project. This is what I wrote. I cut it off where it starts to turn into boring class crap. As a child, I did not feel much love if any love from my mother and as a young girl who dreams wer…

  5. http://www.amazon.com/Conquered-Clippy-Erotic-Digital-Desires-ebook/dp/B00UJ01WBW/ Yes, someone seriously wrote an erotic fan-fiction digital novella..... about a paperclip. Christie Aackerlund doesn't need help with anything. So when the world's biggest technology company offers to fly her to a remote location and investigate an alien artifact, all by herself, she's all like "I'll do it! But the artifact isn't what it seems, and soon an overly helpful giant living paperclip is getting her all bent out of shape. I'm afraid, very afraid, but I can't wait to check out the user reviews of this in a few weeks once word starts getting around the internet.

These are quotes, not the entire poem “You could tie my tongue My lips, my teeth Split them into surrender Into a foreign language And I would still manage To cough up your name.” - Danielle Shorr, “Let” “They don’t know I only speak in runaway train stations and everybody is always a few minutes too late to the platform. No one has ever gotten the chance to get too close because it is never romantic to fuck the girl who makes love to her own sadness every single night.” - Katelin Wagner, “Disappearing Acts (after Miles Hodges)” Our love is hitchhiking across the California desert and no one is slowing down. Is a lie still a lie if you say it pretty? You’re saying…

  9. Sad news. The original creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books has passed away this previous Sunday at the age of 78. R. A. Montgomery began creating what has now become the 4th best selling childrens series of all time in 1977 with the release of Journey Under the Sea. I have to admit for me this is sad because when I was growing up I friggin' LOVED these books and read them over and over. Sure, I would cheat sometimes and try to backwards figure out the best way to "get through" the books but they were really fun. Anyone else grow up with these books? Did you have any favorites? I loved ones like The Forbidden Castle, The Dragon's Den,…

What happens when the haggling is done and the shops are closed? When the quest has been given, the steeds saddled, and the adventurers are off to their next encounter? They keep the world running, the food cooked, and the horses shoed, yet what adventurer has ever spared a thought or concern for the Non-Player Characters? In the town of Maplebark, four such NPCs settle in for a night of actively ignoring the adventurers drinking in the tavern when things go quickly and fatally awry. Once the dust settles, these four find themselves faced with an impossible choice: pretend to be adventurers undertaking a task of near-certain death or see their town and loved ones destroy…

Anyone have any ideas on how to figure out comic values and/or what they're worth? Been going through a bunch of my dad's old comics that I helped him store and bag and put away when I was a little kid that we all completely forgot about and I ran across this gem .... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You're looking at Avenger's issue #1, original from 1963 and in pretty fantastic condition despite the stupid camera phone picture (picture was taken in low light basement so I had to brighten it up a little). No rips, no tears, all pages intact and unstained, cover in great shape and no stickers (the sticker on the front is on the plastic sleeve, not the com…

Some of you probably do not know that I am big on graphic design and art . I absolutely cherish this subject , but Kilian released his book OBJECT 10 which is a follow up to his OBJECT 5 . The book is a new volume featuring some of the artist’s recent illustration work. He has some of the most creative art work to this date and is someone I am influenced by myself . Soon , I am going to try and get into a college for Art & Graphic Design . Here are some pictures though and a little promotional clip .

May as well post about another graphic novel series that was pretty great. Scott Pilgrim is at times down to earth and fairly serious, while at other times over the top and stylized like a video game. Tons of awesome references in it. I read this series back around the time the movie was coming out, and the movie is yet another great adaptation. The books are even being rereleased in colorized versions. Anyone else ever check these out?

  17. Started by Kevnvek,

I already thought the movie that came out a few years back was awesome, but I just got done reading the first part (8 issues) of the original comic of Kick-Ass and it is pretty great too. I'm definitely going to read Hit Girl and second series before watching the movie of Kick-Ass 2. Has anyone else read these?

So I started reading the seven comic series, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac a few days ago. I just finished reading the fifth one, though there are a couple spin offs featuring different characters. It was created by Jhonen Vasquez, the creator of Invader Zim (which I've never seen much of but would like to check out, also due to it's titular character voicing a character in the Destroy All Humans games). I'd describe it as darkly humorous. It gets kind of messed up at some points but there's always an underlying irony of sorts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_the_Homicidal_Maniac Has anyone else ever read this series?

  21. This is a good read by the writer of the first Borderlands game. http://www.amazon.com/The-Returners-Season-Omnibus-ebook/dp/B00AUA9QV4/ref=pd_sim_kstore_3 Alex Heton is living a second life and so is his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend, Chloe. After a man tries to kill both of them in a restaurant, they reveal to each other that they are the reincarnated bodies and minds of Alexander the Great and Joan of Arc. Before long, they find out that there are many out there like themselves, from Eliot Ness to a thirteen-year-old Albert Einstein. As the group tries to band together and figure out how they have returned, they are hunted by a crazed killer who is just like them: a retu…
