Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the addition of an Early Access section to Steam's library of over 2,000 titles. Steam Early Access titles allow the community to get involved early and play select titles during their development. The goal of Early Access is to provide gamers with the chance to "go behind the scenes" and experience the development cycle firsthand and, more importantly, have a chance to interact with the developers by providing them feedback while the title is still being created. …

Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster--but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue. Broken Age development began when we asked our community if they would help us create a classic-style adventure game without needing to rely on traditional publishers. It turns out they did. And ever since day one, 2 Player Productions has been recording the whole process…

Diablo 3 has two auction houses - one which deals in real money and another in in-game gold - through which players can buy and sell in-game items. It was expected, Wilson noted during a GDC talk (via Joystiq), that a legitimate auction feature would reduce the use of fraud and black market sales, and that only a small number of players would use them. The developer was wrong on both accounts, admitted Wilson. Almost every Diablo 3 player, he said, has used an auction house at some point, and over half of them on a regular basis. This "damaged item rewards", he added, and the pursuit of money has detracted from what should be the game's real motivator - its campaign. …

The video made me laugh my ass off to begin with, but the game itself is worth playing just for the levels they've given. I guess it's for the whole month of April. IT'S AMAZING. STOP THE GRAPHICS!!!

Thirty Flights of Loving This first-person interactive short story will have you hooked from beginning to end and leave you wondering what just happened. Driven by a strong narrative and dizzying action, Thirty Flights of Loving (the sequel to Gravity Bone) will require you to piece together the story of a heist. However, we don’t want to give away too much, so you’ll just have to figure out the story yourself! Thirty Flights of Loving was nominated for the 2013 Independent Games Festival Excellence in Narrative and received Honorable Mentions for the Nuovo Award and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. Yet another F2P MMO. Ugh, we're just saturating the market at this point, but the idea of a solid kung fu MMO intrigues me a little. I may check it out a bit. Anyone try it while in beta?

https://www.themightyquest.com/en This game flew under my radar I suppose. Never heard about it until I read an article on RockPaperShotgun. It's a game from Ubisoft and from what I gather it's like some sort of weird hybrid of Dungeonland. The game is basically split into two parts, raiding other player's castles to get loot and experience while also maintaining and customizing your own castle full of traps and monsters to destroy any other players attempting to raid yours. Both your character AND your castle apparently level up seperately. Seems like it could be pretty awesome for a F2P game and I'm always looking to try stuff out. Here is the article from …

http://hexus.net/tech/news/software/54153-code-leaked-windows-81-reveals-boot-desktop-option/ Microsoft’s Windows Blue (Windows 8.1 for PCs) update may well bring with it an option to boot straight to the desktop. This built-in option would be popular with a vociferous section of PC users who see the new Start Screen as inferior to the old Start Menu and don’t even want to see it once per reboot. A Russian website called Microsoft Portal first revealed the “boot to desktop” code, which is found inside a system file called twinui.dll. These changes are seen in one of the recent leaked builds of Windows Blue/Windows 8.1. However if you have one of these test versions of …
