  1. Speaking on his radio show, Hideo Kojima stated that the Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection which contains Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition will not be coming to the current gen version of the Xbox, because it cannot hold the amount of space required to contain the beast that is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. One of the co-hosts pointed out during Kojima's show that MGS4 would need a seven (yes I said seven) DVD's in order to play MGS4 on the Xbox 360 compared to the 50 GB storage of just one blu-ray disc. Kojima did remain optimistic and state that the MGS: Legacy Collection could release on the next gen Xbox, this assuming of course that Microsoft adapts to blu-ray and if they do not, then I'd say they are going to be in worse shape then Nintendo at this point and basically just gave Sony the keys to the kingdom. via Kotaku (translated) and Eurogamer Click here to view the article

  3. The highly anticipated prequel to the God of War series, God of War: Ascension released today, but not without meeting some controversy from overly sensitive reviewers that caused the developers to change the name of a silver trophy titled "Bros Before Hos".This simply named trophy caused a media backlash from reviewers including Adam Sessler who called the trophy "misogynistic" meaning characterized by a hatred of women, during his own review. "This gut punch of misogyny irredeemably sours this game and it's shocking that such a talented developer would traffic in such a contemptible attitude. I have always liked the adult fantasy of the God of War games - that Grand Guignol silliness - and in this moment, it's all reduced to some frat-house joke, making me ashamed that I ever thought it was more than that in the first place." As a result of the unified front against the name of the trophy, Sony Santa Monica confirmed to numerous media outlets including IGN, that they will change the name of the trophy to "Bros Before Foes" via a patch that will be available today. 5. Speaking directly to Edge, Braid developer Jonathan Blow explained why his next indie game, The Witness, will be releasing on the Playstation 4 first as a timed exclusive and Microsoft you better be paying attention."I’ve had a bad time working with Microsoft in the past. Maybe not super bad, but a moderately bad time in terms of business relationships. Other developers who are friends of mine have had a horrible time, so the idea of signing up again with Microsoft isn’t something I’d have ruled out, but there’s a certain amount of dread I have about doing that again. I don’t have that with Sony. Who knows, maybe it’ll turn out to be just as bad at the end! But I don’t think so. The people we’re talking to on a daily basis there are just really good people, and we’re happy to work with them. We’ll see how it goes." Blow went on further to say that the next Xbox "is not strictly about games", that it is not the place to put a highest performing version of his game on, and that it just wasn't the "best choice". Ouch! "Yeah, there were a lot of reasons why it was a good choice, Some were technical – we haven’t officially been disclosed on Microsoft’s next console, but we do see the same leaks as everyone else has, and they seem plausible. To me they talk about a console that is not strictly about games. It’s trying to be the centre of the living room device, which is fine and maybe it’s the right thing for Microsoft to do, business-wise. I don’t know; I actually don’t think it is, but they’ve certainly thought about it more than me! As a place to put the best, highest performing version of our game on, it doesn’t seem as good a choice.” The Witness is a colorful 3D puzzle game set on an island and is labeled for release in 2013. 7. One thing that I don't understand beside that, lol is why they just can't say the series is not cancelled <------Right there, that would end it.
  8. EA is denying a report that went public over the weekend claiming that the money hungry publisher of the survival horror series Dead Space not only ceased production on Dead Space 4, but also canned the whole entire series due to sluggish sales of Dead Space 3.The report being pushed around the internet began on online gaming news website, VideoGamer.com where they claimed a credible source spoke directly to them stating that Dead Space 4 was in pre-production with Visceral Games' Montreal. However, plans changed after EA made a visit to the small studio this past February and it was announced that pre-production on Dead Space 4 was to be stopped. To further complicate matters, EA closed Visceral Games' Montreal later in February on February 21st due to "restructuring". EA's Peter Moore fired back at this report on GamesIndustry, calling the report "shoddy website journalism". "Standard, shoddy website journalism recipe, born out of a desperate need to increase click-thru rates to support advertising revenue. Fabricate a story using an 'unnamed source,' post it first thing in the morning, add the letters 'EA' to the story (oh, and link it to micro-transactions - always a fan favourite) and then stand back and enjoy the vitriol which you turn into revenue. Rinse and repeat... My comments were fairly and squarely aimed at Videogamer. My issue is not the rejection of community feedback (we get that in bucketloads all day long and we learn from it in real time), rather it was the fabrication of a story in order to generate controversy and ultimately readership." VideoGamer.com is standing by their source and their report stating that EA had prior knowledge of their report going live and that EA UK even asked for them to wait an extra day before posting the report so that they could come up with a proper response with EA here stateside. EA released the usual "we do not comment on rumor or speculation". However, once the report went live, EA changed their minds and sent a message to GameSpot saying that the report was "patently false". According to Eurogamer, VideoGamer checked with EA UK to see what had happened and as it would turn out EA's Coporate Communications Teams sent the "patently false" statements out upon media request. VideoGamer.com has released their own statement since the backlash. "VideoGamer.com would never publish information from a source whose identity could not be verified, or that we do not believe to be accurate. We carried out internal checks to verify the validity of the comments made by our source - and while we have a duty of care to protect their identity - we stand by the comments made in the original story. We would also like to reiterate that we ran the story in good faith, taking the necessary steps with both EA and our source to ensure that the story was as accurate, fair, and well-represented as possible. We find it perplexing as to why EA changed its stance on its decision not to comment on rumours and speculation, especially given the opportunities that the publisher had to clarify the situation before and after VideoGamer.com published the story. We firmly deny any accusations of fabrication on our part." Interestingly enough, despite EA calling the report false there has yet to be one confirmed response that the Dead Space series has not been cancelled. Click here to view the article

  11. The puzzle and oh so naughty title, Catherine is set to release in a few weeks. However if you cannot wait to get your hands on Catherine, Atlus has announced that a demo will go live on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on July 12. In Atlus's newest title, you play as Vincent who is stuck between choosing his blondish brunette (possibly pregnant) fiance Katherine or the blonde and curvacious Catherine that he may or may not have had a one night stand with. After the possible one night stand, Vincent begins having nightmares and may have died. Confused yet? 13. Last week a pair of quick eyes spied an "Xbox 720" logo in the trailer for the movie based on a 1956 short story, "Real Steel" causing rumors to run rampent on the internet regarding the next Xbox since Microsoft had to plunk down a pretty penny to get that advertisement to appear in the movie. As more news is surfacing regarding Microsoft's new supposed console, many are now wondering the console may already be in development. According to Gamezone, several Microsoft employees LinkedIn profiles changed at the beginning of 2011 to reflect working on a new console and a new entertainment experience. Jeff Faulkner ~ "Xbox Next Gen Creative Designer" since January 2011. "Guides the vision for Xbox's User Experience Design across Social Media, User Experience, Entertainment, Gesture and Voice Input, Information Design and Brand and Visual Design". Jonathan Harris ~ "Senior Creative Director for Xbox". According Gamezone he has been designing the next generation of entertainment since September of 2010. The descriptions for the other employees including Microsoft staff working on Xbox hardware and advertising for the next gen Xbox have also changed. Are the job descriptions, profile changes, and the advertising for the Xbox 720 in a movie set in 2020 just a mere coincidence or is the next generation Xbox on the horizon? via Gamezone and Tom's Guide Click here to view the article
  14. How does 26 Verizon Fios channels on the Xbox 360 sound for starting at $89.99 a month? What if I add that they are throwing in a free one year Gold subscription of Xbox Live and a free copy of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary? Didn't think so. Microsoft announced those details in a brief explanation of how the Verizon services will tie into their upcoming Xbox Live TV service. Unfortunately the details are disappointing. Besides the 26 channels and the high prices, this offer is only available to customers who use Verizon Fios internet and TV services and the 26 channels will be based on the "customer's TV package". The unnamed channels will be Kinect enabled meaning everything can be controlled using voice and hand movements. via IGN Click here to view the article
  15. The creative minds behind the desks at Bethesda have been busy, because today the 1.4 update for Skyrim went live across Steam and Xbox Live. Bethesda is waiting to hear back from Sony regarding the Playstation 3 patch, but they remain hopeful that it will release today. The patch fixes several bugs, quests issues, and adds support for Skyrim Workshop for the PC. For a complete list of the fixes, head on over to Bethesda Blog. Click here to view the article
  16. Yet another rumor has entered the rumor mill surrounding the hush hush next Xbox that Microsoft still has yet to announce other than it appearing on their employees resumes. Xbox World Magazine is claiming that sources are saying that the next console from Microsoft will feature a HD touchscreen controller with buttons and analog sticks and that the controller will supposedly function like a TV remote when you are watching television, be a browser for the internet, and will allow you to take the game with you to play when you are traveling or you know...taking care of business in the john. Again I must stress that this another rumor and without Microsoft confirming or denying anything, who knows if this or any of the other rumors are true. Maybe the next Xbox will be a unicorn that can shoot arrows and poop rainbows. via IGN Click here to view the article

  18. Xbox 360 users who own the motion based Kinect are in for a treat today. An update for Netflix has gone live allowing Kinect users to their hands and voice to navigate through the many menus of the popular movie and television show database. Do not get to excited yet to toss your controller aside and cuddle up on the couch with a bubbly beverage of your choice. According a Microsoft Representative who spoke with Joystiq, while all of the titles are Kinect enabled now, there are only a select number of titles that are available from the Netflix Kinect dashboard that can use both voice command and hand gestures. You can find these as "recommended" movies and shows. via Joystiq Click here to view the article
  19. "Predator", an Xbox Live hacker who claims he has had over 35 console bans and hacked his way into Trixie360's account last year, has released a new video on Youtube showcasing his latest hacking victim, Xbox Live's Policy Enforcement Lead, Stephen "Stepto" Toulouse and in his video states that Toulouse had it coming. "Predator" who spoke to Joystiq about hacking into Toulouse's account claims that this proves that everybody's account is open for hacking and that he only wants to help. "I'm simply letting them know I'm willing to help them secure accounts from future hackers. All accounts are open for hacking." Besides hacking into Toulouse's and Trixie360's accounts he also claims that he has done many "illegal things" and "nothing has happened to him yet". "I've done many illegal things on Xbox -- I've taken Trixie360's account, 15 Original Gamertags, 4 H3 Pro's [Halo 3 pros], and a few randoms." The comments on the Youtube page has been full of not surprising negative and hateful remarks towards "Predator" with one person even calling him out and placing his supposed name, address, and phone number for all to see. via Joystiq Click here to view the article

  22. Back in 2008, Microsoft was facing a public relations worse nightmare, "RROD". "RROD" which stands for Red Ring of Death, was the name that was given to the Xbox 360 by it's outraged buyers after the Xbox 360 would overheat and cause a failure requiring the system to be sent in for repairs or else the gamer spending more money on a brand new console. What does that have to do with Marines? In 2008, an angry group of Marines decided to take their frustration out on their Xbox 360 that "RROD'd" three times. 25. Fans waiting to get their hands on Gears of 3 in April 2011, will just have to wait a little bit longer. Epic Games and Microsoft announced that Gears of War 3 has been delayed by 5 months pushing it into the 2011 holiday season. Epic's executive producer Rob Fergusson said the following regarding the set back. "I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue. Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall. Next week we have a major multiplayer press visit at Epic HQ, and I'm really looking forward to the fans seeing and hearing about Gears 3 versus multiplayer for the first time. Lots more exciting news to come." Click here to view the article
