For the serious or semi-serious. Just don't go off the beaten path.

  1. The unexpected death of conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart just got a whole lot more mysterious. Only two months after Breitbart’s passing, the coroner that investigated the cause of death may have succumbed to arsenic poisoning. Michael Cormier, 61, passed away on April 20, the Los Angeles Times reports this week. Although Cormier’s death is only being publicized now, the timing of actual passing actually came within hours of the release of the preliminary autopsy report of Breitbart. Commenting to the Times on the latest news, Lt. Alan Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department says that investigators have not ruled out foul play in the death of Cormier. Autho…

  4. A "super Moon" will light up Saturday's night sky in a once-a-year cosmic show, overshadowing a meteor shower from remnants of Halley's Comet, the U.S. space agency NASA said. The Moon will seem especially big and bright since it will reach its closest spot to Earth at the same time it is in its full phase, NASA said. The Moon "is a 'super Moon,' as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than other full Moons of 2012," it said in a statement. The scientific term for the phenomenon is "perigee moon." The Moon follows an elliptical path around Earth with one side, or perigee, about 31,000 miles closer than the other, or apogee. The Moon will reach perigee at 11:3…

  5. John McAfee, the man behind the anti-virus name, says he's being bugged by Belize's Gang Suppression Unit. His home was raided by four different arms of armed Belize official organizations, including the GSU and the police. At least that is what is being reported by Channel 5 in Belize. When I say "his home," this appears to consist of nine houses and is the site of the Belize Ecological Foundation. The Belize Gang Suppression Unit's press release declares that McAfee, 66, was there with his 17-year-old girlfriend (referred to as a minor) and five security guards. The GSU reportedly says it discovered 10 firearms and 5 air rifles, all allegedly unlicensed. It also claims …

Just wondering how everyone's weekend went. I had a pretty good one myself. Even though I was called back into work Friday. Can't really complain because it netted me some extra money. Got up Saturday and went to Keeneland to watch the Derby. Ended up only spending around 40 bucks counting drinks and betting so a good day overall. Before the day was over I found my wife and I thoroughly trashed. We were home laughing at how early it was (9pm) and drunk out of our minds before I wake up at 2am thinking it was 2 in the afternoon the next day. Slept off and on (up and down drinking glass after glass of water) until noon Sunday. Meandered around the house until around 1.…

Here's a story for Springsteen's next ballad: A roofer in New Jersey took a dangerous dive into a vat of acid to save a coworker who had just fallen through a roof into the tank 40 feet below Read more here Absolutely incredible, It's amazing what some people will still do to save the life of another. I hope they eventually identify the man and give him the recognition he deserves.

Well, turns out, it's not because they mistook you for a giant beautiful flower (though you are one, special tulip!), or because they're all tuckered out after a long day at the honey factory. It's because they're hungry. And your sadness is their foo Have your ilfe ruined here

This is srs business. I don't want to see this community cease to be nothing, and while I understand we all have busy lives etc etc, we need fresh blood. 90% of the people who come here don't get past the new users hello forums. etc blah blah whatever, this is about a grand idea I had while at work. This is an idea in process, so input is appreciated. I'd like to actually do this, and hopefully bring some life back to our community. Gamercide is going to host an UNO COMPETITION. Why uno? Because it's easy, and anyone can play. It's also a great social game, so we can get to know each other better. And it's a lot of fun. Some of you may remember our uno games in the past.…

  11. In a striking find, archaeologists in Guatemala report the discovery of a small building whose walls display not only a stunningly preserved mural of a brightly adorned Mayan king, but also calendars that destroy any notion that the Mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012. If you live in Australia and you had pre-ordered tomorrow's Diablo 3 from them it's very possible that A) You're not getting the game and You'll never get a cent of the money you put down to pre-order back from the store. 17. America welcomes a new brand of smart street lightning systems: energy-efficient, long-lasting, complete with LED screens to show ads. They can also spy on citizens in a way George Orwell would not have imagined in his worst nightmare. With a price tag of $3,000+ apiece, according to an ABC report, the street lights are now being rolled out in Detroit, Chicago and Pittsburgh, and may soon mushroom all across the country. Part of the Intellistreets systems made by the company Illuminating Concepts, they have a number of “homeland security applications” attached. Each has a microprocessor “essentially similar to an iPhone,” capable of wireless communication. Each can captu…

At a recent telecom conference, a Verizon CFO indicated that there will be no plans going forward to offer unlimited data plans, even to customers (like myself) who have grandfathered contracts. The change will occur when customers upgrade to a LTE device (higher data speeds). Fuuuuuuuu....... I knew it was too good to be true, and my upgrade comes up in July.

  23. Ok so maybe the Big Mac ads aren't coming soon, but it's still kind of making me a little angry knowing it could come to that. Even worse than that. Imagine you're playing a game. Let's say a racing game. You're in the zone, furiously trying to fight for first place. (All following pictures, except the doggy, taken from actual Sony patent application) You go to make a pass in between two other cars and suddenly it's like you're in the Matrix as the gameplay slows down to a crawl. What the ****? I've never seen this before. You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me......... No folks. I'm not kidding about any of this. Sony has patented what they are calling "Ad…
