Faliszek revealed a new downloadable content pack, dubbed "The Sacrifice," is coming to both the original Left 4 Dead and its sequel, Left 4 Dead 2. A precursor to the previous DLC "The Passing," the upcoming pack will tell the story of how the original Left 4 Dead team lost one of its team members to the zombie outbreak. Since Valve was already busy bringing the original team to Left 4 Dead 2 in order to tell the story in "Sacrifice," Faliszek said the team decided to bring a fan favorite campaign from the original game into its sequel. "No Mercy" will be included in the upcoming DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 players, adding the sequel's game mechanics to the popular or…

Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance which has seen three different designs since it’s release in 2001 is officially on it’s way out as Gamestop announces that they will no longer be accepting Game Boy Advance handheld devices or games. According to Joystiq, on April 2 the gaming retail giant will no longer be taking anything that has to do with the 11 year old handheld. All this hacking crap is really starting to get old. Got this email last night... --- An important message about your BioWare account. Aaryn Flynn GM BioWare Edmonton <bioware@em.ea.com> Thu, Jun 23, 2011 at 11:25 PM To: skylark95@live.com We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our invest…

An international team of scientists said on Thursday they had recorded sub-atomic particles traveling faster than light -- a finding that could overturn one of Einstein's long-accepted fundamental laws of the universe. Antonio Ereditato, spokesman for the researchers, told Reuters that measurements taken over three years showed neutrinos pumped from CERN near Geneva to Gran Sasso in Italy had arrived 60 nanoseconds quicker than light would have done. "We have high confidence in our results. We have checked and rechecked for anything that could have distorted our measurements but we found nothing," he said. "We now want colleagues to check them independently." If confirmed…

Also, I'm in favor of Gamercide going black tomorrow for the CISPA blackout. A day without the forums would keep CISPA in my thoughts all day. I lied. Here's a short quip from the article. But most of the web giants like Google and Facebook which opposed SOPA are now supporting CISPA. Why? Probably because SOPA would have held them responsible for their users’ actions, while CISPA won’t make the web giants responsible. In other words, they don’t have skin in the game this time around.…

  12. Internal government documents obtained by the Electronic Privacy Information Center have revealed that the US Department of Justice is secretly helping AT&T and other service providers evade wiretapping laws so that the US government can conduct surveillance on parts of their networks. The legal immunity comes from authorizations granted by the Justice Department through special "2511" letters that absolve carriers in the event that the surveillance is found to run afoul of federal law. The authorization program began as a narrow cybersecurity effort to monitor government defense contractors, but has been expanded to cover critical infrastructure like energy, financ…

In what will go down in history as one of the biggest ****-moves in the video game industry, THQ has fired its San Diego team right when E3 was going on. According to Kristan Reed from Pocket Gamer, they hoped that with all this E3 news going on, the recent sacking of an entire team would get buried under it. Let’s hope it doesn’t. “THQ fired everyone at THQ San Diego today Dan. They did it on an E3 day to bury the news. Bad form.” Sources here Here

Edward Snowden email host Lavabit shuts down rather than continuing to comply with secret US gag orders. https://lavabit.com/ My Fellow Users, I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit. After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations. I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot. I feel you deserve to know what’s going on--the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this. Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say…

I found this article and found it a very interesting read. To summarize, 200 students in a Strategic management class at the University of Central Florida were accused of cheating by their professor since they used online materials (a test bank) provided by the publisher to study and/or cheat on the exam. It is unknown to me if this was publicly available on the website (article seems to claim it was), but reguardless of that, would you consider this a form of cheating? Is the professor right in the action that he is taking? If you have time, be sure and take a look at the article, it explains it much better along with the videos than I do. http://www.techdirt.com/arti…
