In Nintendo’s world there are two different types of indie developers. The “Garage” developer who has an idea, but little to no experience that apparently according to this little quote are only envisioning themselves of a developer and are not passionate about their “craft” and then there is the full on “Indie” developer who has a lot of experience and worked with bigger developers and publishers and that is who Nintendo wants to work with. No surprise there Fils-Aime. “We’ve been clear that we want to work with independent developers who understand this business, who have experience in this business. These are people who spent time working with larger publishers and la…

Today’s Fail of the Day is being brought to you by previous Fail of the Week winner, Fox News. Every now and then Fox News decides to take step out of the daily national and worldwide news and try something different, like writing about video games that are considered “controversial”. Take Bulletstorm for example. Fox News claimed that playing Bulletstorm will make you rape women and that the “possibly worst video game ever” is a bad influence on today’s youthful fragile minds. What could be more fail-tacular than their ground breaking study on Bulletstorm? According Fox News, Duke Nukem is taking “sexism” to a whole new level in Duke Nukem Forever and that we should…

Next Generation Storage Media As games and film get bigger, ISP will struggle to find new ways of moving large amounts of data in a timely manner without clogging their servers. Regardless of how fast that industry moves, it will almost always be two, three or four steps behind companies like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and major movie distributors, when looking for the quickest and most cost effective way in getting media out to the consumer. In the future I'm certain the industry standard will be a 3 or 4 terabyte HDD on newer consoles and PCs, but with some games in the current market reaching has high as 40Gb, I don't think it's unreasonable to say in the next 5 or 10 …

I'm off to WLC (Warrior Leader Course) this Tuesday. I'll be gone about 2 1/2 weeks or so. This is supposed to "further my progression towards a career as a Non-commissioned Officer". We'll see. I see it as 2 weeks off of work with all expenses paid lol. Unfortunately I will not have internet access during this time so no Minecraft for me.

This Dumbass of the Day is being brought to you by Bastal, a user on the Bioware’s Dragon Age 2 boards who thought he was speaking for “straight males” everywhere when he complained that Dragon Age 2 is geared more to gays, females don’t play games like Dragon Age, and to top this asinine rant off, Bioware needs to stick with making straight males happy, because that is their main demographic. Unfortunately for Basalt, David Gaider the Senior Writer for Bioware was around and turned his moment of dumbass-ness into one of the best pieces of verbal beatdown that one has every seen. Let’s take a look at what led to this moment when the a know it all gamer gets his diapers…

Wondercon 2011: http://www.comic-con.org/wc/ The Bonnie to my Clyde, the wonderfully talented Karen Krajenbrink is going back to Wondercon this year in San Francisco. Last year I had the awesome ability to go with her to this "little brother" of the larger San Diego Comic-Con. It was a blast. This year she's going to have a table again (look for the Small Press area, SP-17) and I'll be walking the floor, checking out the publishers both large and small, as well as sitting in on (hopefully) some very anticipated panels. These panels include looks at Warner Bros.: Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds and other guests, a screening of the animated Green Lantern: Emerald Knights A…

News about the new under developement title exclusively for the Kinect, Rise of Nightmares has been rather quiet since Sega announced the horror game at the Tokyo Game Show in 2010. Sega can now thank the ESRB for not only letting the plot out of the bag, but also doing so in the “breast” describing way possible. According to the ESRB description of the game, Rise of Nightmare will can contain: “This is a horror-adventure game in which players assume the role of an American tourist who must rescue his wife from a deranged scientist. From a first-person perspective, players use brass knuckles, knives, hatchets, and chainsaws to kill zombie-like creatures and disfigured mo…

Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Children of all ages. Gamercide proudly brings to you an all new site design. If you don't frequent the main site, I urge you to do so and check it out. A lot of work went in to getting it done and setup correctly. I can't thank Dat enough for working so hard on the Live Streaming page. He's done such an awesome job making it match the main site and dealing with all my flighty changes as I've made them. I'm still working on getting the new forum design going to make it match a little better, but for now they look good together and everything should work well. If you run in to any problems, please PM me or post it here. Thanks f…

Gearbox, in a “very special” announcement video, have pushed the release out on Duke Nukem Forever from the original May release to June. See the video below: Some may worry, but we here at Gamercide have full faith in Gearbox and know they need the extra time for making sure this game gets the polish it deserves. It also gives us more time for the impending demo, whenever that comes out. Tweet This Post View the full article

Microsoft, one of the titan’s in the busniess world has brought down the world’s largest spam network, Rustock. Rustock which was formed around 2006, ran from computers running Microsoft Windows and was capable of sending out 25,000 spam messages an hour from an infected PC according to the wiki for the spambot. While working with federal agents, Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit was able to attain some of the machines that were running the virus spreader and were able to work with different countries like China and Netherlands to begin the process of disabling the program that was out of the United States. Microsoft later joined forces with Pfizer, FireEye, and the Unive…

Recently PopCap and The Red Cross teamed up for 48 hours to help raise money for the people of Japan who’s lives were changed after the earthquake struck the region on Friday March 11 causing a Tsunami, several aftershocks, and partial nuclear meltdowns. During the 48 hour markdown of all of PopCap games that are available on the Apple App Store, PopCap raised more than $200,000 with 100% of revenue made from the fundraiser being donated to the International Red Cross in hopes of providing aid to those in Japan who desperately need it right now. The rumor mill is running rampant today after an interview between Italy’s Xbox 360 Magazine and Silent Hill: Downpour developer Vatra Games’ Radek Marek over whether or not the survival horror game that is due to hit shelves sometime in Fall 2011 will have mulitplayer. During the interview that explores the environment and enemies within Silent Hill: Downpour, Italy’s Xbox 360 Magazine asked Marek about the possibility of mulitplayer being included in Downpour. The answer the magazine received is interesting, but also a little confusing. “At the moment there will be no multiplayer modes in Silent Hill: Downpour, but Konami are investigating a separate chapter devoted en…

Those of you hoping to cash in on THQ’s rocky release of their newest title, Homefront, by taking advantadge of the reported price drop by Amazon and Walmart are going to be in for a surprise if you try to go pick up a copy today. THQ issued a statement today in defense of selling Homefront at full price, which basically states that they disapprove of the price drops advertised by Amazon and Walmart: “Amazon and Walmart.com have raised the prices back up and it was a one-day plan to gain market share on the biggest title in the industry right now. THQ did not support this in any way, shape, or form.” There you have it folks. Did you have a chance to pick up Homefront …

The Razer Onza is Razer’s first proper attempt at making a gamepad for consoles. Can this gamepad created by a company known for making some of the fanciest PC gaming peripherals around live up to the hype, or is it not the godly, k/d count enhancing, reaction boosting uber controller that everyone makes it out to be? The Razer Onza comes in two varieties. The first is the $50 Razer Onza Tournament Edition which has everything the standard Xbox 360 controller has (aside from chatpad compatibility), with added features including: two extra multi-function buttons on the shoulder that can be mapped to any other button on the controller (excluding the d-pad), adjustable re…
