Fanboys get ready to give your favorite console a hug, because GameStop released their annual report regarding who is coming out on top in console sales in the United States and Europe since December 2010. In the US, Nintendo takes the top two spots with the DS selling 47.3 million and the Wii selling 34.2 million units. The number three spot goes to the Xbox 360 which moved 25.4 million consoles. Rounding out fourth and fifth place is the PSP selling 19 million and the PS3 selling 15.4 million units. So I've been reading lately that Gamestop has been in talks about their pre-order business plans that would make this whole "exclusive content" shenanigans incredibly worse. Pretty much the idea is that Gamestop wants to move further into this territory by entering into talks with developers before the game even releases so that whole parts of the game are only available to people who pre-order and purchase through them. So we're talking much more than a weapon or character skin here. Oh wow! That new game-mode looks fantastic! Only available if you buy it at Gamestop. Etc, etc. Thoughts?

So is this the test run of Gamestops used game program? Seems a bit excessive, I would not be trading in games if they wanted to finger print me. http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/08/01/new-philadelphia-gamestop-policy-requires-customer-fingerprints-when-trading-in-games/ and I know they wont go to this just interesting what some stores will do.

So I'm looking into getting some gaming headphones, or maybe asking for them for my birthday, and I wanted to get some recommendations. So far it looks like it's mainly between Turtle Beaches (x41s?) and Trittons (Ax720s or AxPros?). I don't want an entry level one, I would like some in full 5.1 surround, but I also don't really want to spend over $200 at the most ($180 or less, really lol). So I guess Trittons and Turtle Beaches aren't TOO different, but some TBs are wireless requiring AAAs (24 packs being purchasable for $10, probably last a couple months) and Trittons have an AC adapter to plug in (kind of like the idea of not needing batteries better). Does anyone hav…

Joystiq, a gaming site that has existed for a whole bunch of years now, was purchased by AOL back in 2005. It's being reported now, rumor or no, that AOL has plans to close down the website after traffic has declined 18% in the past year. Both Kotaku and Joystiq are reporting the story, but at this time AOL and Joystiq have no comment on speculation (although Joystiq seems aware that it's pretty much bound to happen). Kind of sad, I always enjoyed checking out Joystiq every couple days and also looking out for reviews on their site as well (since I appreciate differing viewpoints)

Going to break the rule of no Destructoid links on this forum, since they brought this touching story to light. Go there and read about Michael John Mamaril. http://www.destructoid.com/gearbox-to-honor-late-fan-as-an-npc-in-borderlands-2-215160.phtml Proud of both Gearbox and Destructoid for making this happen. Peace and well wishes to the family of Michael John Mamaril.

So, I decided spending a lot of money would be a good idea... (regardless of what my wife really wanted) Anyhow! I want it. I haven't upgraded video cards in about 3 years and finally decided it was time again. AND, I managed to find one in stock on NewEgg yesterday and ordered it right up! I should have that bad boy by Thursday. I'm excited

Two women who say they suffered severe medical complications from a generic drug lost their Supreme Court appeal Thursday, essentially ending their separate lawsuits against pharmaceutical manufacturers. The justices in a 5-4 ruling said generic drug companies do not share the same level of responsibility as makers of brand-name equivalents, to update their warning labels when significant new risks emerge. There’s more than one way to stick it to The Man. There’s civil disobedience, subversive propaganda, political art, outright violent revolt--each possessing its own degree of difficulty and consequence. In a decidedly 21st-century twist, team of German hackers bent on fighting the powers that be has chosen a rather ambitious means of taking the power back: building a hacker-owned and -operated space program, complete with a constellation of communications satellites beaming uncensored Internet to users on the ground. The Hackerspace Global Grid was borne out of a call to action at the Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin, where hackers of all stripes gather to mull the …

It should come as no surprise that the 2 million dollar seller on the Wii, Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition is doing so well. After all, Mario is not only a fan favorite of every age, but he is also one of Nintendo’s flag ship characters. However it might come as a surprise to some fans that despite selling well since it’s release in December of last year, Nintendo is going to stop shipping the game to North American retailers on March 13. Costing $30, fans of the series can get their hands on all of the Mario classics including Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 3, as well as a book that explains …
