Cannabis officially became legal last week in Alaska and Washington, D.C. Despite warnings from the prohibitionists, the sky didn't fall in either place, but some extreme members of Congress wouldn't let it go. They warned the mayor of D.C. with jail time for going ahead with legalization — a disgrace when you consider that it won 70 percent of the vote in November. So I've been writing my entire life, as most of you who've known me already know. Usually I share it with a few people but never really put myself out there. I finally sucked it up and started sending out short stories to lit magazines to see if I could get any bites. I collected a handful of things I had written recently, had some other inspiring author friends pick their favorite and sent it out to a couple lit magazines. I just got my first rejection. I anticipated being rejected, these magazines have really shit/low acceptation rates. but it doesn't lessen the sting of it any less. Well, I don't live in Boston, but we had our share of too much snow here in KY. However, I have to be proud of our neighborhood today. We started with this. And after banding together with shovels, one neighbor who's dad brought a snow blower and a girl who's boyfriend who did a quick pass with a plow on the road. We have this: Plus several neighbors brought out shine and other various goodies. Was a great day to be snowed in. Rare to say I love my neighbors, but there it is. Hope everyone is staying warm.
