Lionhead Studios announced that Fable Anniversary; the HD remastered audio and graphic rendition of the original Fable that started it all has been given an official release date. Fable Anniversary will be available on the Xbox 360 for $39.99 beginning on February 4th, 2014 in North America, February 6th, 2014 in Asia, and February 7th, 2014 in Europe. Lionhead has also announced that there will be limited edition "first copies" of Fable Anniversary available that will include a code for launch day weapons and outfits. NSA and GCHQ Listening to Online Private Chats on Xbox Live; World of Warcraft and Second Life also Targeted
The Guardian has released documents from Edward Snowden that show that UK and US spies are listening in on conversations and interactions going on popular games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life. The leaked documents also show that the NSA and GCHQ are listening to your private Xbox Live chats. Both spy agencies for the US and UK reportedly "have built mass-collection capabilities against the Xbox Live console network". To date, there are over 48 million Xbox Live users. Both agencies have also used World of Warcraft and Second Life by creating characters as a means to gain information from users' buddy lists, monitor interactions, and recruit potential informants. There are over 36 million registered Second Life players and according to a report in July, World of Warcraft is down to 7.7 million active players. In the 2008 NSA document, "Exploiting Terrorist Use of Games & Virtual Environments", the NSA and GCHQ speak about how they believe online gaming and online chats present opportunities for terrorists to discuss future attacks and also their plans further describing the online gaming community as a "target-rich communications network". The report also claims that terrorist group Al-Qaeda and other possible terrorists associate themselves with XBL, Second Life, and World of Warcraft. "Al-Qaida terrorist target selectors and … have been found associated with Xbox Live, Second Life, World of Warcraft, and other GVEs [games and virtual environments]. Other targets include Chinese hackers, an Iranian nuclear scientist, Hizballah, and Hamas members." Perhaps most interestingly mentioned by The Guardian is how the GCHQ requested the NSA to begin using World of Warcraft in a "deliberate effort to extract metadata" and link "accounts, characters and guilds" to Islamic extremism and arms dealing efforts." It was later claimed that within World of Warcraft active subscribers they found "telecom engineers, embassy drivers, scientists, the military and other intelligence agencies". Soon after the infiltration of World of Warcraft, Xbox Live followed. The FBI, CIA, and Defense Humint Service were also mentioned in the report as using Second Life to gain intelligence. Blizzard Entertainment; the developer behind World of Warcraft is speaking out about the report and claim that they did not know about the spying. "We are unaware of any surveillance taking place. If it was, it would have been done without our knowledge or permission." Both Microsoft and the founder of Second Life Philip Rosedale declined to comment. The NSA has also declined to comment on the report and GCHQ has not confirmed or denied the report, but did say "in accordance with a strict legal and policy framework which ensures that its activities are authorised, necessary and proportionate, and there is rigorous oversight, including from the secretary of state, the interception and intelligence services commissioners and the Intelligence and Security Committee". via The Guardian Click here to view the article

Black Friday Video Game Deals
Battlefield 4 is just about broken on the PC, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One so I am assuming that sale was to actually get people to play this sorry excuse of a game. I can't even play Commander mode without problems and our copy on the Xbox One is just about unplayable. The multiplayer has a whole slew of issues that makes me wonder how it even got released. DICE did an awful job with this game and I a huge Battlefield fan so this is a major let down.

DICE Responds to Xbox One Battlefield 4 Users About Much Needed Patch
The multiplayer is almost unplayable for Jason and I on the xbox one since we picked it up. We can barely get a round in and it crashes and kicks us back to the dashboard. Well that's if we can join a game anyway. I've been playing Commander mode on my tablet in the meantime until a patch gets released.

DICE Responds to Xbox One Battlefield 4 Users About Much Needed Patch
DICE has released a statement regarding several problems with the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 and admits that they are not "proud" of the issues that many are experiencing. DICE's studio manager Karl Magnus Troedsson released a statement telling Xbox One users that they are committed to fixing the ongoing problems. "At DICE, we are committed to you, the fans, and view the game as a live service. I am extremely proud of the people at DICE and everyone across EA that contributed to the development of Battlefield 4. However, I am less proud to see that the game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period. While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do." Troedsson did not mention when the patch will be released, however did state DICE is holding a double XP week for Battlefield 4 users beginning on November 28th and lasting until December 5th. On December 5th, Battlefield 4 users who log in to the game will be receive the M1911 pistol scope which was previously only for DICE developers. The scope features a 3x zoom. The Xbox One version is not the only version to be experiencing multiple problems. DICE released a patch for the PS4 earlier today that fixes crashing, bugs, and corrupted single player save files. DICE also has an Xbox 360 patch that will be released soon and DICE acknowledged that they are going to begin working on a patch for the PC as well. via Videogamer Click here to view the article

DICE Releases Battlefield 4 PS4 Patch
DICE has released a single player and multiplayer patch for Battlefield 4 on the PS4 that fixes numerous problems that gamers have been plagued with since it's release. The patch fixes regular crashing issues and also crashing issues associated with changing weapons and maps and crashes occurring from resuming the single player campaign. Other fixes included in the patch are the reduction of the probability that you will get a corrupt save file in single player, a bug has been fixed that caused a connection error when accessing Playstation Plus, and improved performance when a player shoots at destroying Levolution objects. DICE is also in the final testing phase of a patch for the Xbox 360 which will be released soon and also a new update is in the works for the PC version of Battlefield 4. No word on when a patch will be released for the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 where many users are complaining on the Battlefield 4 Battlelog forum of crashing during multiplayer games that kicks you back to the Xbox One dashboard frequently, joining multiplayer game connectivity issues, and reported lag. DICE had issued a statement on November 23rd that the crashing problems were reportedly fixed, however as users are posting on the Battlefield 4 forum frequent game crashing is still an ongoing issue. via Eurogamer and Battlefield 4 Battlelog Forum Click here to view the article

Xbox One Users With Malfunctioning Units Receiving Free Game
Microsoft is giving users with malfunctioning Xbox One's a free game of their choosing as they wait for the arrival of their replacement Xbox One. Microsoft made the announcement that users who have to send their faulty Xbox One in and are waiting to receive a replacement Xbox One console get to choose from either Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, or Zoo Tycoon in the form of a digital download. Microsoft acknowledged that the Xbox One disc drive is malfunctioning for some users on Monday and are quickly trying to replace those units by mailing out new Xbox One's before the user sends their faulty console in. "We're working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers." Users can expect their new Xbox One within a matter of days of reporting the issue to support. "Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running." Microsoft has not released the official numbers of those effected by the faulty disc drive, however they have said a "very small number" of Xbox One's are having the issue. via CNET Click here to view the article
