Gamertags that are in use and have been considered abandoned are now being resurrected so that gamers who want a gamertag change can now use them. According to Major Nelson the process will take some time and that gamers should check back regularly to see if a name that they would like is now available, because they are adding newly revived gamertags daily. via Major Nelson Tweet This Post View the full article

  9. Do you like to play open ended sandbox-styled games like [insert any open-ended game here]? According to DICE’s Patrick Bach who is serving as the Executive Producer to Battlefield 3, you are in the minority because sandbox games just plain suck. “In some cases they aren’t, but in most cases sandbox games are hardcore, boring, hard to get into and they are not very popular.” You hear that kiddos? If you play GTA, Saint’s Row, Red Dead Remption, or even Battlefield 2: Bad Company that DICE worked on that is considered “sandboxish” then you are playing a game that is at the bottom of every gaming barrel. via Edge Online Tweet This Post View the full article

  10. The fiscal year ending in March 2011 has proven to be a bloodbath for Nintendo as their loss of earnings has been reported. Nintendo’s shares dropped 66% and according to Joystiq, this marks the third year for profit declines which is not what Nintendo previously predicted. Also reported from Nintendo’s camp is that the previously rumored ”Wii Successor” will be at E3 in the form of a playable model. Nintendo has the new console that is supposedly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 set to launch sometime in 2012. via Nintendo Investors Tweet This Post View the full article

  12. Incinerated partial remains of at least 274 troops were reportedly dumped at landfill between 2004-08 by the largest military mortuary in the US. The Washington Post report was based on data from Dover Air Force Base, the main entry port for US war dead. The newspaper first broke the story last month, but it was not known how many remains were dumped at landfill. Families, who had agreed for the remains to be disposed of respectfully, were unaware of the practice. Pentagon officials did not authorise the procedure, which was reported by whistleblowers. Air Force officials, who have denied a cover-up, said last month they could not estimate the precise number of casualties…

If you've signed up a few weeks ago, the second step is now live. Head to the Microsoft Connect site and log in. From there, go to the upper left and click "Xbox LIVE Update Home". From there, click on "Starting 11/1 - Console Registrations". Now go down and click the first link inside of "Step One". Get your "key", copy it and then input that key into your console. It will prompt a small download (under 2mbs). Once that is finished, run the program and follow the easy and quick instructions. That tool will upload your serial number and other information that you once had to input manually. You're done! Validation and admittance comes within 1 or 2 days. Enjoy.

  15. The unexpected death of conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart just got a whole lot more mysterious. Only two months after Breitbart’s passing, the coroner that investigated the cause of death may have succumbed to arsenic poisoning. Michael Cormier, 61, passed away on April 20, the Los Angeles Times reports this week. Although Cormier’s death is only being publicized now, the timing of actual passing actually came within hours of the release of the preliminary autopsy report of Breitbart. Commenting to the Times on the latest news, Lt. Alan Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department says that investigators have not ruled out foul play in the death of Cormier. Autho…

But, here's the thing: as many of us have been saying for quite some time, the "best ideas" have nothing to do with legislation, because legislation is tackling the wrong problem. No amount of legislation or enforcement stops piracy. That's been shown over and over again. What does help deal with infringement is offering a better service that gives consumers more of what they want in a reasonable and convenient manner. And thus, I can't recommend enough Nat Torkington's brilliant response to "the President's challenge" above by likening it to this old joke:Heavy rains start and a neighbour pulls up in his truck. "Hey Bob, I'm leaving for high ground. Want a lift?" Bob say…

Kameo: Elements of Power, a colorful launch title for the Xbox 360 in 2005 almost had a followup with Kameo 2, but Rare cancelled the game in 2009 before it got off the ground. Artwork has surfaced from the planned sequel that shows Kameo would have gotten a more “womanly” appearance had the game had lived to see a release. via Eurogamer Tweet This Post View the full article

The numbers are in and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold a combined 5.6 million copies on it’s opening day in the US and UK, making Activision not only $360 million, but also very happy. As reported on Eurogamer, Bobby Kotick, Activision’s CEO was extremely pleased with Black Ops first day numbers. “The game’s success underscores the pop culture appeal of the brand. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the finest game that Treyarch has ever made and raises the bar for online gameplay by delivering the deepest and most intense Call of Duty experience yet.” Black Ops has already outsold Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 who managed to make $4.7 million on day one. 21. /facepalm So an 11yr old boy over in the UK spent over a thousand pounds ($1,743.90) over a period of 6 months by purchasing things on Xbox Live. His mother, who claims that "when I put my card details in 18 months ago I thought it was just for his membership to play online with his friends", has gone to great lengths to condemn Microsoft. "It is ridiculous to allow someone of his age to make payments without any checks being done," she says. "When he is in gaming mode he can't be thinking about the money. You can't put all that responsibility on a young boy." The mother has reportedly complained to Microsoft, but claims that the "computer giant is ignoring her". Mi…

  22. After the new Assassin Creed reveal many were left trying to figure out the quick flashes and somewhat blurred image that appeared to be Altair’s blade from the original Assassin’s Creed. Ubisoft has released yet another fuzzy reveal that has further complicated the minds of many, however thanks to one quick thinking Turkish website, the locale for the new Assassin’s Creed game may have been figured out. Oyungezer analyzed the flashing photos down to the numbers and images in the background and discovered that one image appears to be the historic Hagia Sofia, another image that flashes briefly across the screen highly resembles the Ottoman Tughra which the official seal …

But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC,” – Oskari Hakkinen, Head of Franchise Development Instead Alan Wake: Night Springs is rumored to be an Xbox Live Arcade release and according to Eurogamer Remedy was hiring for motion controller experts last year making some wonder if Alan Wake: Night Springs will be Kinect enabled. via E…
