No one will see this until after the upgrade is done, but I’m going to try to push to v5. I’m migrating over to Gamercide.com and will setup .org as a redirect once I’m done. This will probably take me forever, and it’ll probably still be unused, but I don’t care. If nothing else, it’ll stand as a historical archive, with a bit of a new face.

I've been trying to keep us as up to date in the web world as possible. So, I've been wanting to enable secure connections for a long time. SSL or https://gamercide.org is now live and is now the default connection for everyone. You can only access the website through the secure connection now. However, there are a few things you should know. You WILL get a prompt or icon showing this page to be not secure on many of the threads and posts you visit. This is due to the nature of the forum. We will still accept pictures, and videos, and all sorts of embeds that may not be through a secure connection. In the future, as we post content, if you make sure to use…

Well, I have been attempting to upgrade the server all day, but I'm not having much luck. I have restored us back to where we were before I started. I will likely be trying this again, but I have to call it a night for now.

  5. Ok guys. It's time to put it all out there. I can't remember when I took over running the forums, but since day one I've been covering all the hosting costs. Don't get me wrong, until recently it hasn't been a big deal. Our shared hosting account is only $6.95 a month. We got that rate because I went ahead and prepaid for 5 years of hosting in April of 2011. So, no true worries because we have, at minimum, a shared hosting account until April 2016. Plus 9.99 a year to keep our domain name. On to the bad news. You all know the site, up until recently, had been getting more and more sluggish. Slow to load, slow to post, slow to do everything. This is due to the fact t…

  6. Hey everyone. I'm working on a replacement for Wordpress again. Instead of trying to import the full current Wordpress skin I am just mimicking the color scheme and layout a bit. I need some input. I've currently finished what would be the basic layout of the main page when you went to Gamercide.org If you all think it's a step in the right direction, I'm going to keep at it. This is a lot easier than the other route I was going before, but I don't want to go too much further if it's something you all don't like. Oh, and you can ignore the sidebar content. That stuff will change. It's just filler for styling right now. http://www.gamercide.org/test/

Ok everyone. I'm going to have a major overhaul of the main site done in the near future. Here is your chance to place your input. The reason is the site performance. Running a major forum back end and a wordpress front end is just a waste of resources. I plan on ditching word press and integrating everything into IPBoard ( The forum software ) . This will allow for complete site/forum integration. Article comments will be forum posts, and forum posts will be promotable to articles. Now, here's the deal, I don't have the time or knowledge to do the major legwork of the redesign. So, I'm going to be paying a professional skinner to design everything for us. It's g…

Twitter has already been integrated into the forums. New users can create an account using their twitter login. Current members can go to their settings and authorize twitter for Gamercide. If you do you can have your status on Gamercide be tweeted or your tweets update your status. You will also have the option to tweet any new topics you make. Facebook integration will come later if it's not too intrusive. Neither will be required.

Forum Font and Color settings can now be set and saved on a per user basis. These font settings are system wide so all of your posts will reflect changes when you change it. HOW TO This is how you can personalize your posts:

Open My Setting in the drop down list with your login name in top left or go to your profile and click edit your profile
Then Click on Customize Posts.
Simply select the settings you want and click Save Changes.
DOWNSIDES It works well, but here are the downsides:

You WILL NOT see the font settings when you click preview post. They will not replace your avatars! You still need to decide what avatar photo you wish to use and upload it in your profile. However, you can now use any gamer card that you wish to use. This includes Steam, Xbox, and PSN. Here is an example of sites: Steam Card Site Xbox Card [url="http:…

  11. Hello everyone. I believe I have been around here long enough to not need any introduction, but I do believe a little explanation is in order. Spawn has officially stepped down as administrator of these forums and this site. His reasons are his own, and I will leave it up to him to share them. He has done so much for this site that there aren't enough to words to thank him. He has handed the reigns over to me, and I will do everything in my power to keep things running well. Spawns help will be greatly missed, but at least we will still have his company. I am honored to take the burden off his shoulders and give him a chance to just enjoy this place instead of const…

Three plus years ago, a handful of gamers from the xbox.com forums, decided they wanted a place of their own (ATC), to discuss whatever they liked without posting off topic to the xbox forums. Years later, they wanted to dip their hand into the gaming news world and created Gamercide. This is where you are, now. You are here X. Okay, okay. There is more to this story, but it'd bore you to tears. Honestly. What you want to know, is, who are the people here? What are they like? Will I make a good fit? I will do my best to answer those questions for you. Know this, though. If this didn't answer what you were looking for, either PM me or any of the staff, or reply to this thr…
