July 17, 201016 yr comment_13927 Friend did it today, what a way to end it. I've been with this kid almost day in and day out for two years, until the pass few months. Sadly, the most recent time I saw him was a gamestop and all we did was glare at each other, no words spoken. The last thing I said to him was "Are you still interested in buying my Nintendo Wii?" I got a response later on saying "I can't afford it thanks for the offer though."He jumped 48feet from a 4 or 5 story parking garage at the college we go too. Broke both ankles, both legs, and pelvic bone. Died from internal bleeding. Only 19 years old, less than a month older than me.RIP - Matt. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13931 That is terrible. Prayers for you and the other people who know him to get through this. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13934 I'm sooo sorry sweetie. ((hugs)) And to die from internal bleeding. Poor guy.I hope you're doing okay. Be sure to take advantage of the counselors at school if you feel the need. That's what they're there for. Well, one of the things that they're there for anyway. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13937 Damn dude. I don't have much to say. "Tragic" is all that comes to mind. Sorry for your loss. Report
July 17, 201016 yr Author comment_13939 Thank you for the words everyone. Matt and I have had classes together since my Junior in high school, dating back to 2008. The kind of person Matt was, top 10% of almost 1,000 graduates. 80-99's in college. Manager at a local pizza shop. I've taken many trips with Matt and his father, such as the lake, Galveston, and San Marcos. The man gave me rides home when I couldn't find a way home, helped me with school and motivated me to finish my work in time. He supported me until Matt and I got into a little argument in late April. The last time I saw him was two-three weeks ago at Gamestop. We just stared at each other, no words were said. Then we both went on our way. He was there when my Uncle and Grandma passed away earlier this year. Went to my softball games, saw me get my first tattoo that says, "Stay Bright Little Fireflies" which represents hope, he helped me design it. He was only 19, born March 7. He was the best advice giver and person you could go to when you had no one else to talk to. He has helped me through break ups, Matt lost a battle with more than demons yesterday afternoon. He lost a battle that no one saw coming. No more pain and suffering, no more worrying for him. His last words were to his ex girlfriend saying "I will always love you and always would have." at 1:24 P.M. yesterday. It's hard to understand why, but knowing what he was going through I believe he over thought everything. He let it get the best of him and didn't realize what he was really doing. In the text messages earlier on, he mentioned no one else would care. I feel as if I'm to blame since I wasn't around but I DO know, nobody can stop a person going through this thought process. I know this isn't a big thing but it's hard to know. He just bought a brand new (well used but 1 owner and it was his girlfriends dads) Ford GT Mustang, light blue. Along with just buying the new Xbox 360 Slim. It hurts to see these things be given away, his dad has already approached me about the car since I myself own a 2003 Mustang V6 that I'm looking to sell. Just knowing that he was logged into Xbox Live, 7/16/2010 playing Soul Caliber, and now...he can't. Hard. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13941 I'm really sorry to hear about this. This is such a terrible thing, he sounded like a great kid. I'm sure he's up at heaven and in peace right now. Death and especially suicide are hard to deal with but one thing to remember while thinking about it is that he's at peace right now. Don't think of him losing the battle, he won and he's in a better place now. RIP.And like Kitty said, go to a counselor if you need to. It's much better to talk to someone in person imo. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13943 that's why suicide is so ******* selfish. it leaves people in it's wake wondering what they could have done. i'm sorry to hear what hapened. but it ain't your fault.i have never known anyone who killed themselves, but i remember talking to my buddy right after his friend did it. i tried to lend support, but he wrote him off already. called him a selfish coward. Everyone does in the end, look out for themselves and obviously...he believed this was the best route to take although it was completely different. If he were still alive, I would be sure to ask him what he thoughts were on the descend because I fully believe he did this out of irrational thinking. He went ahead and deleted his facebook earlier in the day, text messages where sent that were giving signals but weren't noticeable until it actually happened. Report

July 17, 201016 yr comment_13952 Not much we can say rly apart from suicide is a horrible thing to put others through, hope ur holding up as well as can be expected. It's sad that he felt the need to do something like that but hopefully he's at peace from whatever was troubling him. Report
July 17, 201016 yr comment_13959 I'm terribly sorry to hear about this. I've been through this and I know it's very rough. Try the best to not place any blame on yourself, because by no means is it YOUR fault. Don't bottle your emotions and talk to people about it, with time it will heal. You know you've got a huge family here at GC and all of us are available to help you through this. Stay strong Report
July 18, 201016 yr Author comment_13997 I've volunteered my services to the family to be a pallbearer and to give a speech at his funeral. It's looking like it will be either Tuesday or later on this coming week. Man, this is just a horrible thing. This makes you realize that if you ever had a good buddy and you two argued over something stupid...it's worth trying to fix things up. Report
July 19, 201016 yr comment_14056 Did you go to the funeral? I can imagine it was pretty emotional. If you want to talk, we're here for you. Report
July 19, 201016 yr comment_14082 I know saying sorry doesn't take away the hurt, confusion, anger, and pain that you are feeling, so I'm sending tons of e-hugs your way. Remember the good times when you two talked and try not to focus on the "why" or "what ifs". Report

July 22, 201016 yr Author comment_14399 For those who don’t know me, I’m Matt Brown, a great friend to Matthew. There’s a quote I would like to share with all of you “it is easier to remember than to forget.” Memories are simply something you can’t just erase out of your mind. Although we lost a friend, a son, a nephew, a cousin, a role model, a class act worker, and a technology guru there are some memories I would like to relive for just a moment. Matt, I remember those times in Mrs. V's class where we built websites while also learning how to use Photoshop, something we both had a great interest in. Never in my life up until that point have I asked for help from someone other than a teacher or Google. If you didn’t know how to make or build it, we figured out a way to make it happen. If it wasn’t for this class we probably would have never gotten to know each other as well as we did. Speaking of school, we met in our Junior Year at Klein High School and had a class for half the day during the 2007-2008 school year. I came to you when I needed that extra motivation to finish the last paragraph in an English paper or to get me through the day in our awesome History 1301 class. We took it even further and took classes this past Fall at Lonestar. There is no doubt we were brothers with the way we acted and the similar interest we had, these classes proved it. We would sit in History 1301 talking to each other on AIM and Facebook waiting for 11:00 AM to come so we could go home because the Lectures were so boring. You always gave me a ride home when I didn’t have one, you reviewed my school papers, and you offered to buy me a meal every now and then. That’s a true best friend would do. I thank you for doing so. You were a true “life-line.” for me. We both loved to play Video games, especially on our Xbox 360’s. So many nights would we stay up until the early morning trying to gain achievements or to just play online with each other. Along with many nights where you would invited about 12 of us to your house and we would scream, yell, holler and cause chaos because of the excitement it caused. Playing Rock Band 2 and being told to turn the sound down because your dad could hear it, we always were having a good time jamming.Outside of Video Gaming our trips to San Marcos, to Galveston, and to Lake Conroe. I remember telling your dad that “I’m going to throw Matt off this Jet Ski, I guarantee it.” Your dad replied “By all means, please do so.” Well, instead I ended up tossing myself off and you were able to sit and laugh as I swam to get back on the Jet Ski. I’ll miss moments like this. We understood each other’s humor when others would take a long time to catch on. There is something everyone needs to know about you, when you spoke, you spoke in volumes. Also, you were there for many of big milestones in my life that others can’t say they were. About 5 weeks ago was the last time I really spoke to you and I will never forget your last words “Wish I could buy it but I don’t have the money right now. Thanks for offering me.” I offered you my Nintendo Wii since you wanted one to spice up your room with more electronic goodies. Lastly, I know you are already working miracles for me…I know you told Apple to give me a call for a job interview.I’m going to miss my Gaming buddy, my college school partner, and my best friend. I love you Matthew always will you be in my heart. I still can’t believe you’re gone. That's what I wrote. Hope you guys read that. I broke down once I got to the last 2 sentences. Report
July 23, 201016 yr comment_14506 I'm so sorry for your loss. Your eulogy is beautiful and I'm glad that you are remembering pieces of love and joy for your relationship with him. He sounded like a very good friend. Report
January 26, 201115 yr Author comment_28893 I don't want to bring an old thread up but I believe I've been granted permission to give thus speech in my public speaking class. I'm not sure if I can get through it again. I find it very risky a teacher would allow me too. What do you guys think? Should I go through with it? 5-7 minute speech? Report
