  2. Comcast, Time Warner and Verizon are among the ISPs preparing to implement a graduated response to piracy by July, says the music industry's chief lobbyist. The country's largest Internet service providers haven't given up on the idea of becoming copyright cops. Last July, Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon, and Time Warner Cable and other bandwidth providers announced that they had agreed to adopt policies designed to discourage customers from pirating music, movies and software over the Web. Since then, the ISPs have been very quiet about their antipiracy measures. But during a panel discussion here at a gathering of U.S. publishers, Cary Sherman, CEO of the Recording Indust…

by Mona Ibrahim Deus Ex and Disney Epic Mickey creator Warren Spector opened PAX Prime in Seattle, an empowering Gamasutra-attended keynote today, with a call for gamers to look beyond the celebration of geekdom so that the industry as a whole can move toward the mainstream. "After years of facing insecurity and rejection while striving for mainstream acceptance, Spector suggested that game culture has finally reached a 'Golden Age', noting: "Every medium that has lasted has gone through this. It’s gone through what we’re going through today.” Not long ago, he suggested, game culture was largely a collection of adolescent males with a decidedly geeky tilt. Now we see peop…

  5. I can't believe that people are actually SCAMMING the system when it comes to the Humble Indie Bundle and the current Steam Holiday Sale in order to try to work the system to get more entries into the stupid Steam Holiday contest. It makes me VERY angry that people would stoop so low, but of course not a lot surprises me these days. So, I'm giving a big F U to all the asshats out there who ruin all the good things for the rest of us.

  6. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City! Modders sorted through the game's code, and claims to have found a character model of Luke Skywalker along with details on a Hoth mission. The developer was rumoured to have been working on the game back in 2010, so this might be all that's left of their work.

Two women who say they suffered severe medical complications from a generic drug lost their Supreme Court appeal Thursday, essentially ending their separate lawsuits against pharmaceutical manufacturers. The justices in a 5-4 ruling said generic drug companies do not share the same level of responsibility as makers of brand-name equivalents, to update their warning labels when significant new risks emerge. via Fox News "Pittsburgh police say a man tried to carjack a plainclothes officer near filming for the latest Batman movie -- and allegedly told him it was part of the script. Detective Robert DiGiacomo was in an unmarked vehicle around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, looking for a suspect in an assault. That's when police say a man opened the car door, sat down and told the officer to get out. The officer drew his gun and ordered the suspect, 21-year-old Micah Calamosca, out of the car. He says the suspect told him he was part of filming for "The Dark Knight Rises" and that taking the vehicle was in the script. Calamosco was taken into custody and faces a charge of robbery…

The growing list of expensive games that are being added to the XBLA are lacking creativity and not worth the amount of points that they are releasing for. Sure there are some downloadable worthy titles that will keep you busy for hours like Braid, Kingdom for Keflings, Limbo, and Shadow Complex, but what happens when you grow tired of repeatedly playing the same games over and over and want a new arcade game? You are faced with 1200 MS point buys that are not worth even a discounted price of 400 MS points. Here are a list of games that could revamp and save the XBLA from disappearing into the ugly dark hole that it is slowly digging for itself with out of control pri…

So, I'm gonna pop in my Halo 2 disc and play through the singleplayer a bit tonight. But, that's not what I'm here to discuss. What I am going to comment on, however, is the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc that I bought (I saw it when I was looking fr my Halo 2 disc and it got me thinking). I just checked dates on wikipedia and the disc was released on July 5th, 2005 (the full length game was released on November 9th of the previous year, so this was a rather lengthy and well thought out addition). What I also remember was the price of the disc. My brother bought it for $15. The disc came with 9 multiplayer maps as well as some documentary footage. And they were all kick…

The announcement of Modern Warfare 3 made many Call of Duty fans rejoice, but that happiness went away when it was followed by the little fact that Modern Warfare 3 is being handled by two different developers instead of being directly developed by Infinity Ward. Infinity Ward is providing assistance on some level and now rumors are flying that there is a big reveal on the way. No exact details have been released regarding the big reveal rumor other than a huge number 3 in green appearing on the Playstation UK Magazine that says, “The biggest game in the world returns”. Rumors are also on the rise that Infinity Ward will be making a Call of Duty game in the future and …

Incredibly long and not for the faint of heart, but if I was less lazy I'd try it. http://timofiend.blogspot.com/2011/09/hi-there-my-names-timofiend-or-tim-as.html
