  2. NEW ORLEANS – Radar used in the stealth bomber and to find roadside bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq is moving into the sewers of Louisiana. The aim is finding empty spaces where dirt has seeped into sewers and water pipes before they spread to create huge buttholes or "stinkholes" that can collapse roadways and sidewalks above them. The radar was developed for the Defense Department. Researchers at Louisiana Tech University -- bankrolled by a Florida sewer inspection company -- adapted it to look for potential buttholes before they reach the surface. The system is to be tested in January in Slidell, where a butthole that popped up this fall alongside a major thoroughfare c…

  5. Like Fargo, thousands of other local police departments nationwide have been amassing stockpiles of military-style equipment in the name of homeland security, aided by more than $34 billion in federal grants since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, a Daily Beast investigation conducted by the Center for Investigative Reporting has found. Interactive Map: States Spend Billions on Homeland Security. The buying spree has transformed local police departments into small, army-like forces, and put intimidating equipment into the hands of civilian officers. And that is raising questions about whether the strategy has gone too far, creating a culture and capability that jeopa…

Developer: Zen Studios Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios Distributor: Microsoft Game Studios Platform: Xbox 360 (XBLA) Mode: Single player, Multiplayer I’m going to be honest I’ve never been a huge fan of pinball. I have never been good at it, no matter how hard I try. However, there was something about Pinball FX 2 that caught my eye. Be it the colorful tables, the licensed characters, or hope that this could be the pinball game that finally breaks me out of my funk for pinball. Did it succeed? Read on and let’s find out. It seems that a new You Don't Know Jack game is going to be coming out as a downloadable release (XBLA, PSN, Wii) later this year. I am very excited to hear this, and the game may be one of the few 1200 MS point purchases I make (I can almost guarantee it will be $15). I loved the old YDKJ games, they were funny as hell. Especially the wacky commercials, which will also return in the new game.

  15. ******. Really ******. Those are the words used by Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen to describe the now not so upcoming Super Meat Boy for Wiiware. “There is no way to avoid the fact that if we released a 40MB version of Super Meat Boy it would be a **** version of the game, It’s a lose lose situation, but the fact of the matter is if we release a ****** game, we will have to live with that for the rest of our careers and have to cop to the fact that it is a ****** game.” Team Meat also said that a retail version of Super Meat Boy for the Wii is probably not going to happen either. Sounds like you Wii owners are SOL. via IGN View the full article

Link If this is true. When I intend to buy a "new" game, I intend on getting it "new", not "pre-used". If this is true well, I'm gone from that place.

  23. Oh Look, Rep. Mike Rogers Wife Stands To Benefit Greatly From CISPA Passing... from the no-conflict,-no-interest deptIt would appear that Rep. Mike Rogers, the main person in Congress pushing for CISPA, has kept rather quiet about a very direct conflict of interest that calls into serious question the entire bill. It would appear that Rogers' wife stands to benefit quite a lot from the passage of CISPA, and has helped in the push to get the bill passed. It's somewhat amazing that no one has really covered this part of the story, but it highlights, yet again, the kind of activities by folks in Congress that make the public trust Congress less and less. It has seemed quite…

This is extremely interesting to me: http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=%22violent%20video%20games%22 This graph shows how over the last ten years the rate at which media reports on violent video games rises and falls at exactly the same rate! Every year! It spikes in April, then everyone shuts up for the summer.. then right before Xmas it picks up again. I love stuff like this! It shows how robotic and sheeplike humans are. They just do the same thing over and over forever. I understand why soccer moms aren't interested in taking their children's games away in the summer (lol) but why does it spike in April every year?
