  1. Bioware’s Michael Gamble announced that the Mass Effect 3 downloadable content “From Ashes” will be available as a separate download for gamers who choose not plunk down the change for the Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition. The extra DLC that was leaked prematurely onto the Xbox Live Marketplace yesterday includes a Prothean squad member, side story, and new outfits for your squad, and a new weapon. It will cost non-CE buyers an extra $10.00 or 800 MS points. What’s the story behind your gamertag Well I use to be Dr. Japolty, which was a name I used when prank calling people. I used it for my gamer tag but everyone made fun of me because I spelled chipotle wrong. So I switched it to Slapajap, after a few weeks everyone was calling me a racist, even though I didn’t mean Japanese, so I was listening to a song by Three Six Mafia, and I heard the word green grenades, thought it sounded good and used it. What game are you currently playing? Nothing specific really, I suppose Crysis 2 will be next in line since I just got it on sale, and it shouldn’t take long to beat. What game are you looking forward to that has yet to release? Gr…

Developed by: Techland Published by: Deep Silver Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PS3 Players: 1-4 Rated M for Mature by the ESRB It’s the zombie apocalypse and you’re trapped in paradise, or is it hell? Regardless, you must fend for yourself and meet up with other survivors to get through this calamity. Fortunately, you’ve brought some friends. Dead Island is a four player cooperative open world zombie role-playing game. That’s certainly a mouthful, but it makes for a surprisingly fresh concept considering how oversaturated the market for zombie games is. There are plenty of zombie games, and even more RPGs, but surprisingly few hybrids of the two, not counting RPGs t…

    1. What’s the story behind your gamertag? It’s actually quite a complicated story. Bacon when I first got Xbox Live, I was bwler263, which is what most people here first knew me as. I soon outgrew that gamertag, and became CivilizedBacon. Yes, I do love bacon so I didn’t hesitate in making that my tag. AFter a while with that as my gamertag, I was tired of having it as something so long, so I changed my name to Sabaid, which means fight is Scottish Gaelic. I was bored of that, so I finally switched to Bacon v3 a few years back. It’s v3 because it’s my 3rd iteration of my newer gamertags, and I kept around my love of bacon. I told you it was complicated. 2. What game are …

  10. Developed by: Arrowhead Game Studios Published by: Paradox Interactive Platforms: PC Players: 1-4 Magicka has come a long way with all of the new updates and DLCs, but aside from the Magicka: Vietnam DLC, they’ve only been robes, items, and levels for the arena and versus modes. Now finally a true addition to the Adventure mode has been released. This isn’t a quick, challenging little map like Magicka: Vietnam either. There are three full chapters with checkpoints, bosses, and cutscenes. All the signature humor is there, with various areas, new and old, to explore. You start with none of your spellbook spells from the main adventure, but a few new ones await, such a…

  13. There are a few things that I have learned about Activision from a recent pompous and arrogance filled interview between MCV and Activision’s Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg. These “things” are not directly about their video games, brand, or even where they see themselves in the next five years. I have learned that Activision has an over inflatuated opinion of themselves and coming from a company who reported a $233 million loss in the fourth quarter of 2010 is never a good thing. “When you are in the number one position you have a lot of people gunning for you,” – Eric Hirshberg, Activision’s Publishing CEO via MCV I find that statement reeking of wrongs considering t…

What’s the story behind your gamertag My gamertag used to be AudaciousKevin from early 2007 onwards when I got my Xbox 360 and made an account. The suggestions all showed AdjectiveNoun so I made up a cool one with my name, emphasizing my carefree play style. I eventually got tired of having a fairly long name with an adjective in it and recently changed it to Kevnvek. I did a lot of Googling of variegations of my name to see what came up with the fewest results and eventually ended up on a cool rotatable pallindrome that’s basically my name forwards and backwards with one ‘n’ and no ‘i’s. What game are you currently playing? I just started playing Darksiders II last n…

Developed by: Cold Beam Games Published by: Cold Beam Games Platforms: PC, PS3 Players: 1-2, online and offline Rated E for Everyone by the ESRB Beat Hazard in itself was an extremely fun music visualizer slash space shooter often compared to Geometry Wars. Rightly so, as the basic gameplay is much the same, with the onslaughts of enemies coming at your omnidirectionally firing ship, equipped with devastating, screen clearing bombs. The twist is that the gameplay is powered by your music. Your firepower is immediately influenced by the intensity of a song, while enemy and boss spawn patterns are determined by various factors throughout the entire song. Every song g…

Zuma's Revenge for Xbox Live Arcade Developer/Publisher: PopCap Games Genre: Puzzle, Adventure Price: 800 MSP Online: None, except leaderboards and score challenge mode Zuma's Revenge is a puzzle game first and foremost. I played the first Zuma game a while back, maybe one or two levels in the demo, and I'm pretty sure I was turned off by it immediately. I am not big on puzzle games, never have been, though I was a sucker for a couple of the old school puzzle games, such as Tetris and Dr. Mario, and this game is very similar to it, albeit 20 years after those games came out, it's the same premise. There's not much room for evolution of the match-the-colour puzzle game, b…

The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings Developed by: CD Projekt RED Published by: CD Projekt RED Platforms: PC (Coming Soon to XBOX 360 ) Players: 1 The Witcher 2 starts with Geralt coming awake to find himself in a dungeon facing execution for the murder of a king. From there he is interrogated by Vernon Roche to recall the details of the last battle and how the king died. The story is recalled in pieces and The Prologue unfolds this way. I would love to tell you more , but so much of the game revolves around the excellent story that anything I could tell would be spoiling the fun. Instead, I’ll cover the overview of it. The story is fluid and compelling, but not without …

  20. When I first got the email offering to review a Hatsune Miku game, I had to go out and see what Hatsune Miku games were. Looking at screenshots, I realized they were generally Dance Dance Revolution or Beatmania style games. So, I decided to give it a go. Let's get in to this thing and see what I signed up for in my time with Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone.
