I'm hell on power cords for my laptops. My wife's cord works with my lappy, so I we can share for a little while, but that sucks. I need a new one, but I don't want to spend a hundred bucks on it. I know some of you guys know where to get a deal on this stuff, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have an HP Pavillion dv6 2155dx. I'm off to work, but I'll try to pop in during a break or something. Thanks guys!

According to a report just published, Bethesda is creating an MMO based on the Elder Scrolls universe. The website Tom's Guide has published an article claiming that an Elder Scrolls MMO is in production, citing an anonymous industry source. The source also told the site that the game would take place a millennium prior to the events of Skyrim, and the author speculates that this would place it in the "Second Era" of Elder Scrolls. This would mean the MMO takes place hundreds of years before any game in the series. The article gives a few more details on the purported MMO, including the plan to have "three playable factions," each represented by an animal -- lion, dragon,…

Introducing new characters to a game like Borderlands 2 so long after launch can be a risky proposition. Most players have made it through the retail game and the available DLC, and the prospect of starting over with a new Vault Hunter might not be terribly appealing. Taking on a challenge like this (and asking players to invest another $10) might seem crazy. Thankfully, so is Krieg, the sixth Vault Hunter. The protagonists of the Borderlands series aren’t traditional heroes. They aren’t in it for helping the little guy (as any Bandit Midget will attest). It’s the fortune and glory that appeals to them, and if that means helping out the local population (and robots) to …

Among The Sleep, that horror game where you play as an infant in really terrifying nightmares, will be releasing an alpha build demo tomorrow. Currently just $15,000 shy of meeting its Kickstarter goal, Among The Sleep certainly looks like a promising title. The demo will go live on Krillbite’s Kickstarter page at 11AM PDT PDT /2PM EDT /8PM CEST. It’s also worth noting that this will be an earlier version of the game and not the same build that some backers will have access to later this summer.

Montague's Mount is a first-person rollercoaster ride through isolation, desolation and one man's tortured mind, set against the bleakness of an isolated Irish island. The player regains consciousness on a windswept beach, with no memory of the past. Exploration and puzzle solving are the keys to finding out what happened – and to escaping the island. Polypusher is a one-man studio based in Ireland; the game blends personal experience with realistic landscapes and makes extensive use of the Gaelic language throughout. Montague’s Mount was first shown to the public at Rezzed! in June and an expanded version will be playable at the upcoming Eurogamer Expo show at London’s…

Paradox Interactive today officially announced Salem, a free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game based in the harsh world of colonial Salem. The game focuses on crafting and player colonies as players discover the new world in a sandbox like environment. The game is being developed by the team at Seatribe and is scheduled to go live in 2011 on the Paradox Connect platform. Salem has already garnered a lot of interest from the gaming community since it was previewed behind closed doors to members of the media in late January. Known for its controversial permanent death feature, an essential game mechanic that introduces risk as players progress in the new world…

Microsoft has reaffirmed that maligned PC service Games for Windows - Live service is here to stay. Can we at least ditch the hyphen? Quizzed by NeoGamr about possible discontinuation (via Rock, Paper, Shotgun), Microsoft responded: "Answer is no." And continued: "Microsoft continues to support the Games for Windows platform, but we are making new investments in Metro style games. To this end, and "for the core PC gamer", Microsoft launched Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight. Count yourselves lucky. So I'm generally pretty good with stuff, but I'm stumped. Here goes. I was downloading things, and like an idiot I gave myself a virus. Now AVG Free was able to detect the file and quarantine it, but the problem is I know it's still on my PC. 1) The windows security center alert is always on. I can NOT turn back on Windows Security (firewalls, blah blah). Everytime I click the button it just errors and says The Windows Security Center service can't be started. 2) because of this also, I cannot download any Windows Updates. It says I have to turn the service on or restart my PC. Again, can't do anything. So yeah, that's where I'm at for the moment. Sy…
