  1. Activision and Treyarch continue to show their love to Call of Duty: Black Ops fans by announcing another DLC pack, Rezurrection. The $15 add on will release on the Xbox 360 on August 23. Playstation 3 and PC will receive it sometime before the end of September. Rezurrection will feature 5 Zombies maps that include 4 remakes from previous levels Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese in Call of Duty: WaW. The 5th map is based on the moon in outer space. Also included in the add on is a Moon theme for the Xbox 360 and zombie theme songs. Gamers who purchased the Hardened or Prestige editions of Black Ops will get the content for free. via GameSpot
  2. The followup to Gearbox's successful 2009 RPG, Borderlands has been confirmed however Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford is not pleased that the details were leaked so soon. According to 1up, Pitchford took to Twitter yesterday to show his unapproval for the early announcement and targeted "shoddy journalism" (Eurogamer?) for the leak. Talk about a verbal beatdown. Eurogamer first announced the leak yesterday claiming that they got the information from an unnamed source. More drama ensued as Ars Technica tried to stand up for Eurogamer and the other gaming websites that carried the story on, however Pitchford was not having it as proven in the previous tweet. via 1up and Ars Technica
  3. Blood, hatchets, chainsaws, body dismemberment, and deranged baddies await your horror loving eyes in the new and extremely bloody trailer for the upcoming exclusive to Kinect horror title, Rise of Nightmares. http://youtu.be/m7c1s7M4zg8 via Lazy Gamer
  4. Sony has changed the launch date of the Playstation Vita in the United States and Europe to early 2012, while Japan will still be getting Vita in late 2011. Sony's soon to be Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment Kazuo Hirai made the announcement and also confirmed that the $249.99 - $299.99 Vita will not see a price drop because of Nintendo's decision to lower the price of their Nintendo 3DS. "We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable. There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price." via MSN

I was watching Jason playing the trial version lastnight and I kept thinking it would be great with Kinect. However he wasn't trying to do anything specific, just kept torturing the people with flooding their villages when they were built
  7. A couple days ago, Nintendo made a shocking announcement that they are already dropping the price of the recently released Nintendo 3DS and that they are no longer turning a profit on the handheld. This announcement was made by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata to investors. Iwata also announced that himself and other top executives have a taken a paycut to the tune of half of their salary as a result of the fall out. Now that everything has sunk in what does Iwata have to say now? Giant Bomb deciphered a letter that Iwata published where he issued another apology, spoke of a 3DS Ambassador Program for those that bought the 3DS prior to this announcement, and asked that fans be patient while waiting for the next Mario games that are coming out on the 3DS in November and December later this year. via Giant Bomb.
  8. Shocking news right here folks. Before you lace up your combat boots and hit the dirt to play Battlefield 3 this fall, you might want to double check which retail store you are planning on pre-ordering it from. Announced today on the Battlefield 3 Blog are little tidbits of information regarding pre-order bonuses that are retail specific. Pre-Order From Gamestop "GameStop’s pre-order includes the Physical Warfare pack, in addition to the Back To Karkand DLC. If you are part of their PowerUp Rewards, you’ll get a free Prima Battlefield 3 strategy guide as well." Pre-Order From Amazon "If you pre-order on Amazon, you’ll receive an exclusive set of dog tags for multiplayer. On top of that, the pre-order includes the Back To Karkand expansion pack." Pre-Order From Best Buy "Best Buy offers the same Limited Edition version with Back To Karkand, plus a set of new multiplayer skins — the SPECACT Kit. You’ll receive a code to unlock 8 new multiplayer skins when the game is released" Does this announcement change your decision in where you are going to pre-order from or are you planning on picking after it releases on October 25, 2011. via Battlefield 3 Blog
  9. Are you willing to shell out an extra $25.00 a year for "early" access to games and DLC courtesy of EA's new money maker, EA Sports Season Ticket? If you answered yes to that, make sure that read the fine print before buying. As pointed out by many websites including Canada Reuters and Joystiq, there are hidden terms in the fine print. Fine Print 1: "Three days before a game's scheduled release, fans will be able to download and play the full version of all five participating titles on Xbox 360 and PS3™**. The digitally downloaded game will time out when the game is available at retail and consumers have the option to purchase the same full game on disc at retail. EA SPORTS Season Ticket subscribers can transfer all achievements earned during the three-day download period to the purchased disc, resulting in an early edge over the competition." Gamers keep in mind that your "early" access will run out and you still have to purchase the full retail game at your local game retailer. Fine Print 2: ' Premium web content extends the game experience beyond the console to a web browser. All participating titles will feature premium web content that will be free to EA SPORTS Season Ticket members beginning with the premium Creation Center packs for FIFA Soccer 12. These packs provide a deeper set of customization tools and abilities within Creation Center to build your own teams and tournaments, and will be available to the consumer until the membership to the program has expired" Your created options will only be available to you until your membership ends. Just speculation, but it sounds like you might lose everything that work on if you choose to end your membership. What have we learned today my fellow gamers? In EA's world, it's all about the dolla yo! Holla! via EA Press Release

I was thinking about purchasing it, but I was waiting to see what others said.
  11. The wonderful and creative folks over at Activision have decided to bless us all with another attempt at a hunting game. In Cabela's Survival: Shadows of Katmai, you play as Logan who after his plane crashes in a remote location in Alaska must survive off of the land. Along the way, Logan will find hunting gear and firearms to aid you in your battle of survival against the scariest foes that the Alaskan wilderness has to offer. This highly anticipated game is expected to launch on all consoles on November 1, 2011. I have one question though. Will Les Stroud be bundled with this surviving off the land adventure? via Activision
  12. Nintendo's President, Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Nintendo is no longer making a profit off of the handheld 3DS and as a result him and other top Nintendo Executives were given a pay cut to the tune of half their current salary. Iwata's confirmation comes just days after rumors began swirling that the handheld king was quickly losing money as the 3DS's price drop was announced. "First, since the launch of Nintendo 3DS, one of the things we have learned is that it has taken longer than we had originally expected in order for the appeal of this product to widely spread," Iwata stated while speaking to investors. He later added," I feel greatly accountable for having to make the markdown shortly after the launch, for having damaged our consumers' trust, for having made a significant impact upon the financial forecasts, for the annual dividend now being expected to be significantly less than originally expected and for now forecasting that there will be no interim dividend." Did Nintendo jump the gun with 3D software thinking it would be an instant hit or was the 3DS over priced in the first place? via 1up
  13. Is Valve out to get the industry giant EA or has EA completely lost their mind? EA is once again pointing the finger at Valve after Dragon Age II was taken off of Valve's downloadable service, Steam. Last month Crysis 2 disappeared off of the download list and Alice: Madness Returns was late to appear on Steam after it released. Since then EA has been on the defensive saying that this is Valve's doing and has nothing to do with EA's online EA Store. via 1up

  15. Xbox 360 gamers who are anxiously awaiting to get their grubby little hands on CD Projekt RED's The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will have to wait beyond the end of this year. CD Projekt RED is currently in a lawsuit against Namco Bandai over the game's distribution rights in several countries. via IGN
  16. Have you grown tired of seeing someone rushing towards you in Modern Warfare 2 and as you are emptying your clip into them, they lunge and end up killing you with a knife kill? If you said no, then you are lying. The Commando perk that many Modern Warfare fans have been outraged about has been removed from Modern Warfare 3 altogether according to a tweet made by Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward's Creative Strategist. Breaking news....tissues and diapers have been in great supply as gamers who use the "Marathon, Light Weight, and Commando" perks go into a baby rage.

  20. File this piece of news under your "oh hell no!" radar for the day. Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 may have only released this past February, but that didn't stop Capcom from deciding to release an "Ultimate" version of the game this November. The "mid-ranged priced" fighting game will feature 8 new stages, observation mode, and tweleve new characters. Four of those characters that have been announced are Ghost Rider, Strider, Firebrand from Ghosts & Goblins, and Hawkeye. Gears of War 3 releases September 20, 2011.
