  2. With everything in the news being doom and gloom, I thought I would post something a bit more cheery and inspiring. via Fox News READFIELD, Maine -- A 10-year-old boy who earned a spot in a national penmanship contest despite being born without hands is in a league of his own, contest organizers say. Fifth-grader Nicholas Maxim, who writes by holding a pencil between his arms, impressed the judges enough that they created a new category for students with disabilities. Maxim received the first Nicholas Maxim Special Award for Excellent Penmanship this week at a school assembly. The student at Readfield Elementary School is known for his penmanship, even though it's not ea…

So I recently renewed my gift of a year's subscription to my mom for her favorite cooking magazine. I tried sending them a "feedback" message. This is what I wrote. "Hi there! My mother loves your magazine, she has been buying your magazine for about 15 years now, and reads it and enjoys it. I think it is fantastic she finds cooking and recipes so fascinating! Boy, there must be something magical in the pages of your magazine to compel her to read it daily! Unfortunately, that magic has not made it's way on to your website. First of all, I go to your website and it does not tell me I am logged in, nor does it show anywhere my username on the screen. It does show a "log ou…

The "nuclear weapons tests" conducted on home soil were officially for research purposes. In reality, each explosion was the military equivalent of punching your fist into your open hand and pointing at the guy whose *** is totally grass. Anyone close enough to wonder why it was suddenly so windy and blinding were told the explosions were being set off at a safe distance. For instance, Area 51, the army base in the middle of the Nevada desert (where conspiracy theorists believe the Army is reverse-engineering UFOs), was actually one of …

I swear... this company's support line is absolutely worthless, I have wasted half of my day dealing with these asshats... Anyway, I'm about to move over to my knew apartment and wanted to get cable internet started so I had internet when I go down there. I first go to comcast website to sign up for service. When I go to shop for internet it asks for my address. I enter the address to my apartment and then the page comes up with an error saying that I have entered a commercial address and that I have to go to the comcast business site to sign up for internet. Um... this is a residence we are dealing with here... So that brings my first call to 1800COMCAST. Support …

  24. The lovely scent of cut grass is the reek of plant anguish: When attacked, plants release airborne chemical compounds. Now scientists say plants can use these compounds almost like language, notifying nearby creatures who can "rescue" them from insect attacks. A group of German scientists studying a wild tobacco plant noticed that the compounds it released - called green leaf volatiles or GLVs - were very specific. When the plants were infested by caterpillars, the plants released a distress GLV that attracted predatory bugs who like to eat the caterpillars in question. According to Science, where the researchers published their study today: They found that when these pl…
