CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon, apologized on Wednesday for publicly opposing marijuana legalization, saying science was clearly on the side of the drug. “I think we have been terribly and systematically misled in this country for some time, and I did part of that misleading,” he told CNN host Piers Morgan. http://youtu.be/1Tqg2y3yYR0 http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/08/07/cnns-sanjay-gupta-americans-terribly-and-systematically-misled-about-marijuana/

Edward Snowden email host Lavabit shuts down rather than continuing to comply with secret US gag orders. https://lavabit.com/ My Fellow Users, I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit. After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations. I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot. I feel you deserve to know what’s going on--the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this. Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say…

This is so fucking sad. Not only did he post about it, but he seriously put a picture up on his wall of her dead body. He claims that she had been punching him and that he wasn't going to take the abuse anymore. A 10 year old child was also in the home (safe) when police arrived. Link to story His Facebook page has been deleted, but some sick bastards have been re-uploaded her dead body picture to imgur. Stuff like this makes me sad for humanity. Not only that, but of course this is in Florida. Why does all the bad stuff seem to happen there lately?

http://youtu.be/3fDrMal-qes CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta cuts through the smoke and travels around the world to uncover the highs and lows of cannabis. This is an important documentary, since it'll open other doctors and researcher's eyes. Cannabis has a stigma that blinds even professional people in the medical field.

Elon Musk, the South African-born scientist who also oversees operations of the Tesla electric car, revealed on Monday the most information yet about his Hyperloop project, a transportation system that he previously said could move people from Los Angeles, California to San Francisco in half an hour. Details about Musk’s most elusive endeavor have been scarce until now, but on Monday he disclosed plans that could help push the project towards becoming a reality sometime soon. Musk’s concept, which came along with futuristic renderings of sleek aluminum passenger pods, the Hyperloop system would travel in an enclosed environment shielded by steel tubes, mounted on pyl…

Posting this since a firestorm of activity has recently lit up social media. People in the game industry, big and small have been taking sides and weighing their opinions. I happen to think it's a discussion worth having.

This is bullshit of the highest caliber. This judge needs to be removed from not only the bench, but any career within our law system. http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/28/justice/montana-teacher-rape-sentence/index.html My opinion may be crude and disgusting, but I think any man who rapes a child should have to

So I got a kilt. I posted a couple dorky pics in another thread, but here they are again. This Sunday I went to the 148th Annual Scottish Highland Gathering and Games in Pleasanton, CA and I used that kilt to participate in The Kilted Mile. I got fourth with a time of about 6:11, while the winner finished in 5:03. Pretty good, I'd say. My brother recorded this video for me, but only the first and last parts really matter because the track is so big that you can't see anyone once they get to the other side: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=665601880136386&saved

Russia to monitor 'all communications' at Winter Olympics in Sochi: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/06/russia-monitor-communications-sochi-winter-olympics So Russia's idea is to take in Snowden, then pull this crap? What next? We going to go through all my phone contacts and text messages before I go to an event? This crap is already way out of hand...

Don't want this glossed over, so I'm not going to put a small snippet form the article in this post. Read the whole thing here http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2013/10/shutdown-salmonella/

Chime in. How did he do?

Hey just got a console today . Was wondering if any one had a 48 hour XBL code to spare ? Would be real kind .

What an awesome message we're being given. If you're law enforcement, act any way you want. If it's perceived as bad by the media and masses, we'll suspend you with pay. Later down the road, you can then sue the place that was paying you to do nothing saying you suffered depression and anxiety. Oh, you received death threats? That is indeed terrible, however, none of that would have happened if you didn't coat the faces of non-violent protestors. The other video I posted of the cop in the videos section, just wait a year from now. I bet anything he receives a similar outcome. Paid leave and eventually a settlement from the sports bar where it happened.
