Infinity Ward announced earlier this week that the first of two DLC packs that they will doing for Modern Warfare 2 will be out on March 30th and EA has answered that announcement with one of their own all while taking a shot at Infinity Ward's "Mapathy" ad for "The Stimulus Package" DLC. EA announced that they are putting out DLC maps on March 30th that are free by stating on Battlefield Bad Company 2's website, " We’re dedicated to taking care of this product for a long time – helping you avoid “mapathy” without getting nickel-and-dimed". These so called "free" maps are only available for those that purchased the game new and have access to the VIP in game store or ha…

Infinity Ward's first set of DLC for Modern Warfare 2 might be called, "The Stimulus Package", but there is nothing stimulating about the price. Confirmed today on Major Nelson's podcast is the rather large price tage you will be paying for only five maps. Are you ready for this? 1200 MS points. That's right folks, 1200 MS points is what you will have to pay up for Overgrown, Crash, Storm, Bailout, and Salvage. Are five maps worth a 1200 MS points price tag? I think not, but only you can decide that for yourself. Click here to view the article

It appears that BioWare has something up their sleeve. A countdown timer has appeared on BioWare's website earlier and it is counting down the days and minutes leading up to some kind of an announcement. Just what is the announcement? You can speculate that is has something to do with Mass Effect 2 considering that Shepard and Miranda Lawson are right above the timer and that when you click on the timer it takes you to BioWare's Mass Effect 2 page. However we all know that appearances can be deceiving, so your guess is about as good as mine. Click here to view the article

Japan has found a new a way to train employees working at the fast food chain McDonald's, making learning everyday life skills through trail and error and let's not forget common sense, a thing of the past. Modern Warfare 2's training level "The Pit" has made the jump from your television screen to real life. A British television show, The Gadget Show, built a complete mock up of the level all the way down to the amount of targets, civilians, and distance it takes to get to each target area. Why would a television show do this? To challenge a real life ex special ops soldier to take on the course while host Jason Bradbury plays the 360 version of "The Pit". Who do you think won? Back in the 90s, when fighters reined supreme in the arcades, console conversions could only hope to get all the characters and stages to fit on tiny gray cartridges and skippy, easy-to-scratch CDs. It wasn't until the Dreamcast brought Soul Calibur home in 1999 that consoles had finally proven to be superior to the arcade version in almost every way, and that spelled the death knell for arcades...at least in the U.S. Today, Japanese arcades still thrive, but arcades are all but extinct in the U.S. Two years ago, when Street Fighter 4 was in the preliminary stages of revive the fighting game market, Japan released SF4 in the arcades as a sort of beta test. Now, accord…

Since 2001, I’ve been an avid Halo fan, and some might say, a little too addicted to the entire Halo franchise. Luckily, I’ve been fortunate enough to play the Halo: Reach beta before the general public gets access to it via Halo 3: ODST. Strap your boots on; it’s going to be a hell of a ride! Character CustomizationOnce the Reach menu was shining in all of its glory on my TV, I couldn’t think straight what I immediately wanted to do. Customize my character? Matchmaking? The Arena? I needed to make myself a unique Spartan, so I first headed off to customize my Spartan III. The UI for customizing your Spartan has drastically changed and it’s very impressive. The o…

In a move that really should surprise no one, Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to bring a Mass Effect movie to the big screen. With the success of the game(s), this is no real shocker for anyone. With the likes of Halo, Bioshock, and rumors in the industry of a God of War film, a game with such a deep story could easily be brought to your local cinema. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) has been hired to pen the script. His work hasn't really impressed me thus far, but with him being a more character driven writer, it could be a good thing for this project. Also, if the studio could snag Matthew Fox (Who Commander Shephard's look was modeled after) fresh off his…

The much anticipated release date for Halo: Reach has been announced as September 14th (9/15 in Japan). The pre-order, Limited Edition, and Legendary Edition bonuses have also been announced. Check after the break for screens of the new skins. The Legendary Edition will come with the "Flaming Spartan" skins seen below: While the Limited Edition will get the "Elite Officer" armour for the Covanent: And pre-orders will get the "Spartan Recon Helmet" which has some weird looking antenna or satellite on top of his head: Not bad in this day and age of pre-order and bonus crap for most games. There are 3 Deals of the Week this week on Xbox Live and 2 games coming to XBLA. Lazy Raiders, Band of Bugs and Madballs in Babo: Invasion are all reduced from 800 Microsoft Points to 400 this week, while Avatar Wave Snowball Fight is also available for 80 points. Voodoo Dice will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MS Points. However the biggest news this week is the arrival of Doom II on XBLA. I'm sure this one will come in at 800 MS Points as well, but a price has yet to be confirmed. This is really great news for fans of the Doom series and I assume we can look forward to Doom 3 hitting Games on Demand pretty soon as well. Click here to view the article

After finishing the Green Day: Rock Band demo the above picture shows the standard Rock Band bass, drum, guitar, and mic icons, but as you can see there is also what appears to be a piano icon. What does this mean for the franchise? What will the set list look like for the next game? Only time will tell, but I think Stevie Wonder (Better than has been previously done with this one hopefully), Ray Charles, Elton John, and other great pianist could easily make their way in to the music gaming fray with this new instrument.
