The announcement of Modern Warfare 3 made many Call of Duty fans rejoice, but that happiness went away when it was followed by the little fact that Modern Warfare 3 is being handled by two different developers instead of being directly developed by Infinity Ward. Infinity Ward is providing assistance on some level and now rumors are flying that there is a big reveal on the way. No exact details have been released regarding the big reveal rumor other than a huge number 3 in green appearing on the Playstation UK Magazine that says, "The biggest game in the world returns". According to 1up, Pitchford took to Twitter yesterday to show his unapproval for the early announcement and targeted “shoddy journalism” (Eurogamer?) for the leak. “I have long maintained that we will do more with Borderlands. Shoddy journalism is not an announcement.” Randy Pitchford via Twitter Talk about a verbal beatdown. One of the main competitors in the fighting game market, Dead or Alive, will be adding another sequel to its roster, Dead or Alive 5. To make the game’s presence known, a short demo featuring a fight between Ryu Hayabusa and an original DoA ninja character, Hayate. The gameplay demo seems to emphasize the use of counter-attacks to break the enemy’s concentration, and to utilize the surrounding environments, as was demonstrated by the exploding barrels and Ryu dangling off the edge of the skyscraper. via Game Informer and Gamingeverything Written By: Cru Hunter Tweet This Post Post to Facebook View the full article

While the jury is still out regarding Heavy Rain's playability (is it just a CG version of the full motion video games of the mid-90s peppered with quicktime events?), its packaging for the Europe-only special edition evokes the fun meta connectivity of the PC adventure games of the late 80s and early 90s. Sure, some games' pack-in manuals have had a good meta quality to them (Grand Theft Auto's manuals are brochures highlighting that particular city's hot spots) and limited editions come with the occasional soundtrack or figure, but Heavy Rain's European edition really takes the cake (which may or may not be a lie). Perhaps a letter-dipping sequence a la the NES classi…

Square and IO are promising fans of the long running Hitman series a more personal and darker look into the life of their favortie bar coded and bald hitman, Agent 47 all while he is on the run in 2012′s release Hitman: Absolution. In the latest teaser trailer, it appears that 47 has the upper hand on the metro PD as they run around yelling like morons while trying to find him. Needless to say, 47 is doing what he does best. via Gamersheep and Tweet This Post Post to Facebook View the full article

During GDC 2011, Gamasutra Editor in Chief, Brandon Sheffield and Game Developer Magazine held a discussion with some of the most successful Xbox Live Indie Game developers including James Silva, Robert Boyd, Nathan Fouts, and Ian Stoker. They all provided insight and a little bit of ranting about the games that they create for the indie lineup. According to James Silva who created the 2009 successful indie title, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT!!!1 which has sold 308,000 copies since it's release in 2009, the developers are not allowed to create games involving killing things like Nazi's and hunting people. Fans waiting to get their hands on Gears of 3 in April 2011, will just have to wait a little bit longer. Epic Games and Microsoft announced that Gears of War 3 has been delayed by 5 months pushing it into the 2011 holiday season. Epic's executive producer Rob Fergusson said the following regarding the set back. "I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue. Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall. Next week we…

Xbox 360 users who own the motion based Kinect are in for a treat today. An update for Netflix has gone live allowing Kinect users to their hands and voice to navigate through the many menus of the popular movie and television show database. Do not get to excited yet to toss your controller aside and cuddle up on the couch with a bubbly beverage of your choice. According a Microsoft Representative who spoke with Joystiq, while all of the titles are Kinect enabled now, there are only a select number of titles that are available from the Netflix Kinect dashboard that can use both voice command and hand gestures. Fans who have anxiously been waiting on a remake of Square Enix’s 1997 Final Fantasy VII are going to be waiting tad bit longer. Speaking to Famitsu, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura told the Japanese magazine that a FFVII remake is not a priority at this time. “There are a lot of people who want a remake of Final Fantasy VII. However, new titles take precedence. We work our hardest to make something that might be even better than Final Fantasy VII. The new Final Fantasy must overcome the Final Fantasy of the past.” While Square is focusing on their current release, FFXIII-2 with followup DLC and a possible rumored FFXIII-3, they are also working on Final Fantasy X HD re…

Sony CEO Jack Tretton made his Sony fanbase a huge promise that turns out might just be a big pile of poo. Tretton made the announcement at this year’s E3, regarding exclusive Saint’s Row: The Third multiplayer content that only the PS3 was getting. He promised users that they would be receiving an “over the top exclusive mulitplayer game mode.”. According to the fine fellows over at Joystiq both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions are the same and that there are no differences in either version. Joystiq did reach out to THQ and received a big fat, “no comment.”. Many websites are speculating that Tretton was speaking about Whored Mode, however the PC, Xbox 360, an…

We at Gamercide had a chance to talk to the guys over at Nice Technology about their upcoming free to play MMO, Picaroon. It's supposed to be a sort of semi-futuristic piratey MMO RTS, but isn't as complicated as it sounds. Just read on to see what Nice Tech had to say. Q – Can you give us a brief history of Nice Technology? Nice Technology was formed in 2009 when it got together with Toby Simpson the developer of AliceServer the MMOG engine (unique, we believe, in having an agent based architecture) to develop the software further and self publish games made with it. Nice Technology has worked on two titles, one Tronji an MMOG for children developed for BBCW and Ra…

Following my review of Inside a Star-filled Sky, I had a chance to talk with the developer, Jason Rohrer about some aspects of the game. He answered some of the questions I had and was able to provide some insights into the game's design. The following are some excerpts of the chat that I had with him, edited into Q&A format. Q: Any survival tips? Q: The game has a very unique concept, but I had some trouble in later levels. Q: I really do like the idea of it, but it is indeed more of an "art game" than something you can just play indefinitely like Geometry Wars or something. Q: Ever consider something like a shield power up, or maybe a bullet effect that makes y…

Last week we posted one of the gameplay videos for Megaman Universe. It evoked classic Mega Man gameplay...almost a bit TOO classic, as the stages seemed to resemble remixes of stages from Mega Man 2. And we still had no clue about the special characters that would guest star (Ryu and American Box Art Man). Well, Capcom Unity has revealed the nature of Mega Man Universe. The people behind the new stages and characters won't be the Capcom designers but the Mega Man Universe players. Taking cues from Little Big Planet, Mega Man Universe will allow players to not only customize and create their own unique robotic hero from various parts of classic, new, and guest charact…

While Assassins-in-Training maybe mourning the lack of achievements/trophies in the Battle of Forli DLC (out Jan. 28), the trailer highlights some of the story potential that the Memory Segment 12 offers. And while this might not be "Episodes of Renaissance" like GTAIV's DLC, the potential for such expansive DLC is there. Via Kotaku Click here to view the article
